Every night, I spend the night in their room, unable to return to mine. Darius still believes wholeheartedly that I’m trying to escape. And I’m not going to tell him differently for the sake of Ryze, whose new home is in the attic. Tobias was right. Even healed, Ryze never left. I notice, though, with each passing day when Tobias sneaks me up to see him and feed him, that he gets a bit larger each day which is concerning because he will soon not fit through the hole in the roof. I still can’t bring myself to feed him the mice. I’ve tried giving him frozen ones, even thawed-out ones, but he likes them alive.
