Aleera grips the front of my shirt as I lean over Kalen, trying to make him come back to the present with us. Tobias can usually compel him to follow before we douse him in our magic to cleanse the darkness away, and he finally releases it to us. The medication helps him, but something has set him off. I haven’t seen him like this since his last suicide attempt.
Darius catches her movement and reacts by gripping her throat. We all are on edge, thinking she will attack. Why wouldn’t she? This is her chance to escape us again.
