Mike called Carmen later Friday night and told her that they went to the doctor and were having triplets. She was so excited for him that it made me smile. She wanted her brother to be happy and this definitely did it.
I was a little disappointed when the waitress told me one of the women was pregnant and it wasn’t Carmen. I knew we had to wait and plan, but a baby sounded nice. Instead, it looked like I’d have three little nieces or nephews, or a mix, to give my attention to.
They would probably be extra tiny, not like troll babies. I wondered how tiny my baby with Carmen would be. The idea of something so small, soft, and possibly fragile, made me nervous in a way I never had been before.
