As soon as we were sure, the five of us started to sneak through the flames and cautiously ascend the steps one at a time. We did this until we reached the top. As soon as we started climbing, all of a sudden, we were engulfed in flames and dense smoke from the fire that was in the adjacent area. The instruction was issued to the lieutenant by the chief, who then made a hand motion toward the sky and stated, "Let's go." We began ascending the stairs carefully, being sure to put as little weight as possible on each step, and we were very careful not to make any noise.
