CHAPTER 13

A couple was sitting in the restaurant, taking the window seat to admire the scenery from that view. Charlesrange has beautiful spots in the entire state, that’s why it has a huge crowd of tourists around here. The amazing valley and breathtaking mountain peaks, the rainy days which makes the entire town shine after a heavy rainfall.

The early morning, Luna wakes up and rushes to her college hastily. She was busy completing her assignments last night, she slept late and obviously, woke up late too. Now she is in a hurry to reach college in time. Luckily, she found a bus in time and took the last seat in the corner. Admiring the beauty out from the window, her eyes fell on the couple sitting in the restaurant.

The bus had stopped at the red light and she was keeping her eyes on that couple. There was no sense of jealousy but the couple reminded her of the pain of being lonely. Now Luna doesn't have support from her parents, and Lucas is avoiding her too, she thought of making a boyfriend but scared of Lucas’s temper. He might go all crazy and beat the s**t of the guy she will eye.

Sometimes, this attitude confuses her a lot, though Lucas is her step brother, he doesn’t act like that. She felt that Lucas is more possessive and protective towards her, and when she doesn’t listen to his hat, he shows his ugly side to her. All this just made her sad and lost in the thoughts again.

The light turned green and the bus moved. Soon, Luna was roaming in the campus. When she was in her class, she got those familiar stares from the classmates, but now she is immune to their toxic taunts and stares. She was trying to focus on her studies. Maybe one day, she will be a better place from where she is now.

Soon after, the clases went smoothly and she submitted her assignment without interruptions. Glad she didn’t have to face any difficulty today, she was expecting that but when Luna was ready to leave for home, some boys from her class approached her.

“Hey, Bancroft!” one guy stopped her moving away.

“What?” she noticed the way he was acting.

“Have you seen any new dead bodies? There are many murders happening around here, right?” he chuckled while staring at her.

“Leave me alone!!’ she hissed and tried to move.

“Why so scared? Do you have any involvement in those cases?” they were trying to tease her.

“I said, leave me alone!!” Luan was getting annoyed by their behaviour but none of them were easy to leave her.

“Wait! Where are you going? We haven’t finished!” the guy grabbed her wrist and pulled her closer.

Since they were outside the college campus, no one can interfere as it appeared a personal matter.

“Let me go, Kyle! Or i…” Luna was scared but facing them boldly.

“Or what? You will convert me into a dead body too?” Kyle laughed and so does everyone.

“Let us have a little fun with you, Bancroft. You are alone and need company, I can be your companion in this loneliness. Do you wanna watch netflix and chill?” those boys were teasing her which made her furious but helpless.

Suddenly, a strong hand grabbed the wrist of Kyle and jerked his hands of Luna. he was fuming and glaring at the person who dared to interfere in his business.

“Looks like you want some beats.” Lyle snaps his joints and faces an angry Peter.

“When a lady says no, consider that as a no!!” Peter stated before punching Kyle's face.

Kyle fell on his butt and his nose was bleeding. Luna’s eyes were widened in shock and she was gasping on the brawl. The other guys attacked Peter but Peter handled everyone of them like a toothpick. He is a champion of martial arts and laid everyone on the ground within a few minutes.

“Next time when you tease a girl, remind this brutal punch on your face and if you want to tease a girl, start with your mother and sister.” Peter glared each and every one of them before taking Luna’s hand and took her into his car.

He drove away from the college and silent till the entire way.

“Peter! I didn’t know you are a martial art champion.” Luna was really impressed.

“Luna! Don’t change the topic! I am mad at you. How could you let those guys tease you? You should have stepped up for yourself. I might have saved you today but that won’t happen next time, who knows? Those boys needed a lesson, and it would have been better if you taught them.” Peter was mad.

“I know but it’s just, I can't pull myself when I face such a situation. I felt numb and my senses stopped working. I was scared when they blocked my way.” Luna explained.

“Okay! I got your point but at least, you should have called the security or dialed 911 for an emergency. And from the next time, I will pick you up and drop you home from your college.” Peter declared.

“There is no need. I really don’t want to bother you.” Luna politely refused his offer.

“I am not going to hear a no! I just saw what happened here and apart from that, it is dangerous outside. Who knows that killer might keep his eyes on you.” Peter frowned.

“Really? That’s ridiculous!” Luna stated.

Peter applied brakes and looked at Luna, “nothing seems ridiculous when the death is hanging on your head, Luna. you should really be aware of your surroundings!” Peter said and exited the vehicle.

He opened the door for Luna and she was confused to see the same restaurant she saw the couple earlier.

“Why are we here?” she asked.

“To have dinner! It’s my treat and you can’t say no, now! We are friends after all.” Peter dragged her inside the restaurant. 

Luna took the same seat where she saw that couple sitting. They ordered some courses and drinks. While waiting, Peter excused himself to attend a call and Luna was looking out from the window. 

She was busy noticing the capturing beauty of the place when something odd appeared in her sight. A shadow, not an ordinary one but a figure, dressed in all belack, staring at her.

She couldn’t see the figure proper;y but she got a sense that the figure was staring at her thoroughly, which made her uncomfortable. She kept looking when the waiter served the drinks and Luna’s focus shifted.

When she turned to look back at the place, she found the shadow gone. Now, this and others are more uncomfortable.
