Some cathedrals soared into the sky, capturing the glory of God and reflecting it back to heaven. Kölner Dom, the Cathedral Church of St Peter in Cologne, was not one of those places. At least it wasn’t in the gloom of an approaching rainstorm under heavy clouds that bruised the winter sky. Morgan and Jake stood in Domplatte surrounded by busy commuters heading home. Grey offices around the edge of the square echoed the shades of smoke and steel that peppered the concrete blocks under their feet.
