*CONNOR POV*

“She’s human!”
I don’t get shocked very often, but f**k! Out of all the excuses….. I thought she was just a simple servant! And ever since Amelia revealed this human being as her daughter, I haven’t kept my eyes off of her. My anger and shock blend into a confusing emotion, battling together and attempting to calm the wolf down, but the harsh truth to her previous words still ring in the background.
She’s clearly terrified of me, and has refused to look back at me, but once her mother and another help her to her feet, she finally gathers the courage to look at me in the eyes. She sees the monster people talk about, and, as sick as it sounds, my c**k twitches by the sight of her tossed up look.
When she first entered the library, she didn’t know she wasn’t alone, and I kept silent, watching her body language in the dark. I was intrigued almost immediately by her presence and her body, dressed in small, tight clothes, that a proper lady would never wear. Something drew me to her and it fascinated me that I actually wanted to keep to myself to study her, to want to get to know her.
Then she started talking to herself, and I found her voice alluring, even though she was going on a rant about me being early. I laughed to myself at her crude mouth. I decided I wanted to hear more, but even more so, to actually speak to me. When I scared her, my wolf smiled wickedly. He loves when there’s a little fear in the system. It makes the scent of a woman intensify oh so sweetly.
Then she just had to bend over, showing the globes of her ass in those tight shorts… Part of me wondered if she knew what she was doing- presenting her ass to a wolf, which is why I assumed she was another servant…I’ve heard the rumors, and most are true, but it would take more than that to get me to f**k a random woman.
No wonder she was so ignorant of my alpha presence!
When she asked for my name, I withheld at first, not wanting her to change her tone of voice when talking to me. I hadn’t had a normal conversation with anyone in a long time besides my beta, and I wasn’t going to miss my opportunity now. But when she let down her hair, her scent surrounded me, and my informal name just rolled off my tongue, shocking the s**t out me.
I found her smile enchanting and she had a brat characteristic about her, which I would’ve loved to explore and play around with, but with what came out of her mouth was something I didn’t want to hear, not with everything going on right now, so I acted out of instincts. I couldn’t believe she would stoop so low to minimize the bond of my dead mate, and question my role as king!
But it made much more sense now. She’s just a silly human.
Looking at her face, I can see how the bruise is forming, and it won’t go away in a matter of hours like it would for an enchanted. The rare emotion of guilt begins to take hold in my chest, but I can’t get over her exotic beauty. She has the traditional Carroway traits with the heart shaped face and pouty lips, yet her hair is dark brown, almost black, compared to that of her blonde family. She also exudes a wildness in her aura, unlike that of a witch, which only adds to her pure sensuality.
But once I found her eyes, I became stupefied. They were two different colors; Carroway blue in one, and the other, an umber colored surrounded by a vivid green. I’ve never seen such eyes and could easily spend hours looking into them, diving into the secrets of their depths. When she feels me staring directly at them, she glances downward as if ashamed, breaking me of the trance that I found myself in.
“Lincoln, meet Constatinos Paxton, King of the Werewolves.” I see her eyes enlarge, letting me know she has at least heard of me, but she just nods her head. “Tink, take Lincoln upstairs and draw her a healing bath, I have things to discuss with his highness,” Amelia says with a snare.
The brownie bows her head, and ushers Lincoln away, but not before she glances back with sadness and regret in her eyes. It almost wants to make me go make sure she’s okay…..
…. almost.
I watch them climb the stairs slowly, and only when she is out of sight, I turn to the host, and Amelia is looking at me expectantly, arms crossed, which is in her right. This is her home and I put my hands on her offspring. “I apologize for being early, but there is reason….” She narrows her eyes and starts tapping her foot. Damned woman. “Maybe we can discuss this somewhere with not so many ears?” I drawl out.
With a quick clap of her hands, she quickly dismisses everyone and turns in the direction of her meeting room without any words, obviously showing me the disrespect that I have shown her. I can still feel her magic in the air as we each take a seat. Amelia may have only been in her new position for a short period of time, but she has the authority that her father held, one that I respect. Her anger is still high, but so is mine. It’s time to get back down to business.
“There have been sightings of Marlbrooke the past few weeks, in the surrounding territories of your land.” I see her about to interrupt, just like all the others have. “We must take this seriously, Amelia. I believe we should cancel the celebration this year.”
She huffs out a haughty laugh. “Dear, dear, Constatinos, he’s always being sighted around the solstice festival- has been for over thirty years, and yet he does nothing! What makes you think this year will be any different?” I go to open my mouth but she cuts me off quickly, earning a glare from me. “No, we will not cancel it. This is the first year I have been allowed to host in my family’s home, and it’s the blood, full moon solstice. It’s too important to cancel, just because some dog has been seen pissing on a tree,” she states flatly.
“He is not one to be underestimated Amelia. With all due respect, you were not alive during his reign, and you don’t understand the horrors he created.” I have to live through the nightmares constantly.
“And with all due respect, your highness, he hasn’t caused a fuss in over 300 years. Absolutely nothing. It would be different if there were actual proof of something sinister going on, but there’s nothing! And unless my queen tells me otherwise, events will continue as scheduled…”
I nod my head, although I don’t agree with her. Most of the council members have made the same statements, meaning I can’t do s**t to stop anything. “I would still like to have my men patrol the border from now until the end of the festival. If you’ll allow us to stay, that is….”
“As you wish. I don’t see any harm coming from that.” I exhale a breath of relief. At least I’ll have that sense of security. “Now….. about my daughter…” Her tone is civil, but I know it’s anything but, and I do my best to control my own temper.
“I apologize for hurting her, but from my point of view, I thought she was a mere servant, speaking out of her place.” My fists ball up, trying to get her words out of my head. I can’t remember the last time I struck someone, let alone a woman, but it seemed as if the wounds of the first 100 years after Mira’s death sliced open again, and there was nothing I could do to stop the anger.
“What did she say?” she asks cautiously.
I let out a deep sigh, and a growl vibrates through my chest, hating to have to repeat it. “She said I used my mate’s death as an excuse to act the way that I do. She questioned my role as king.” I close my eyes, not wanting to repeat how Mira would have been disappointed in my actions, but I slowly get those words out as well. “She didn’t know she was speaking to the same person she was talking about, but I acted purely out of instincts.”
Amelia reaches over and gracefully puts her hand on top of mine- a sign of respect and pity. I f*****g hate pity. I look up and she shares sympathy in her eyes. “She’s been sheltered from our world, Constatinos. I apologize on her behalf. She knows nothing about the bond of mates, hell, I don’t even think she’s been in a serious relationship in her own realm,” she laughs humorlessly, attempting to lighten the mood. “I was going to give her a crash course into what to expect, but,” waving her hand in the air, clearly pointing at me, “things happen.” I nod and stand up, concluding our meeting. Everything that needed to be said, has been said, although, nothing was accomplished.
“That doesn’t mean you’re off the hook your highness.” I turn and face her with a glare. What the hell does she mean? “You will apologize to Lincoln, for putting marks on her.” She then forms a sinister smile, one that I don’t like. “And I think I found the perfect person to educate her while I tend to the festival duties….”
“You’re a crazy b***h if you think that it’s me. I am a f*****g king, Amelia!”
Her smile doesn’t waver as she walks up to me and pats my shoulder like a child. “And you have nothing to do except border patrols. You came two days early, and I have a lot to get done before the rest of our guests arrive. It would only be an hour or two a day. It won’t kill you.”
“And what makes you think I would agree?” I say with a sneer.
Her eyes glow white, making me swallow my damn pride. “Don’t piss me off, King Constatinos. You may be older and stronger than I, but I assure you, there’s nothing more frightening than a pissed off mother when you have hurt her youngest and most defenseless daughter.” Her eyes dim down back to normal. “Plus, I know deep inside, you don’t want to leave that impression on her, as a king…”
I nod and she exits the room, taking her magical aura with her.

Walking towards the stables to help my team unload the rest of the carts, I think of all the things I should’ve said to Amelia, but she’s right. With Lincoln being human, she is defenseless, and, clearly, ignorant of our world, and even as angry as she made me, seeing the bruises on her did stir something uneasy inside of me.
I remember small rumors of Amelia having another child, but with our families rarely intermingling, I rubbed if off as unimportant. Now I wish I paid more attention to our new host for the week.
“Great first impression Connor. The one other witch with enough power to help out if and when Marlbrooke comes back, you f*****g hurt her daughter,” my Beta, Acker, grumbles off as he throws me a travel pack, catching me off guard.
“Well that news travels fast,” I spit out.
He barks out a small laugh. “Brownies… you gotta love them. So, how bad is it?” He tosses another pack to me, which I throw in a pile next to us.
“She won’t cancel the festival, but said we can patrol…. And I have to play educator to the girl.”
He stops and lets out a deep laugh. “Educator? You?” I glare at him while he doesn’t even try to compose himself. I don’t even know why I call him a friend. “Why would a witch need education from a were?”
I let out a breath, feeling the dread for the next two days. “Apparently, she’s not a witch. She’s human.” Her face pops up in my memory.
“No s**t?” He sports on a dumfounded look. “A witch as powerful as Amelia… with a human offspring?”
I nod my head, looking around, seeing the men and women on my team continuing to unpack. There does seem to be something special about her though. I can’t get those eyes out of my head. Hopefully, if it all goes well, I can get Amelia and her family on board to join us in a treaty. Her parents didn’t want to, but hopefully we can convince her. If tutoring her daughter for the next two days appeases her, I’ll do it.” Amelia’s father didn’t see Marlbrooke as a threat with his silence, but the fact that he’s getting bolder with his appearances, maybe she will see that working together will be a good thing, and keep him underground, if not captured.
Being stuck with the human wouldn’t be so bad, will it? Images of her bent over in those damned shorts make a reappearance in my mind, and I internally groan. Why is thinking about her getting to me like this? Yes, she’s sexy as hell, but I’ve met a lot of women who meet that criteria.
“s**t, you’re… smiling…. What she look like?”
I snap back, realizing Acker is giving me a look of curiosity, and I pull on a mask of nothingness. “Get back to work,” I grumble out, turning to my side as I contemplate what the hell is going on in my head at this moment. Damn, I need to get laid- that has to be it. I’ve already scared the pitiful being. I can’t approach her if all I have is s*x on the brain. That would really get her to hate me if my animal instincts take over.
I look around and see the woman just for the job, getting the last pack off her wagon. Thank god I have female warriors on my team. My beta shakes his head as I walk over and slide up into her personal space, pressing her front into the wagon. I guide my arms slowly on top of hers, traveling down until I light graze her ass. “You smell lovely today, Evette.”
She gives me a sultry laugh. “Oh, my king…. Don’t play with nice words. If you want to f**k, all you have to do is ask. It’s not like we’re strangers in that department.” She turns her body and strokes her hand down from my chest to the erection just dying to get out of my pants.
I growl with approval, but my wolf isn’t on board like he usually is. Weres are s****l creatures, so random f*****g is the norm, well, except when you have a mate. I give my head a slight shake, not wanting to think about the loss of my mate, yet again tonight. Now, all I need to focus on is getting inside this woman’s heat, and a certain human out of my mind.
We leave the group as we head into the Amelia’s mansion. I almost want laugh as a brownie leads us to the servant corridors. Amelia must be really pissed not to have her help rush to get our rooms ready. No matter. A bed is all I need for tonight.
As soon as we get into the room, Evette doesn’t hesitate to push me onto the bed. She strips off my pants as I discard my shirt. She shoves her pants off and slowly starts crawling on top of me, leaving her shirt on like the tease she is.
Once we’re at face level, her lips start to descend, but I quickly grab her hair in a fistful, asserting my dominance. “Don’t push it, pup. You know the rules.” Her glare could level out a whole company, hence why she is on my traveling team. The woman is a warrior to the bone, but she knows not to touch my lips, just like all of the others I bed do.
Her moment of pissed off is quickly gone as she sits up and takes off her tunic. Her luscious breasts bounce and I quickly pull her to me to capture a n****e between my teeth. I nip and suck until her dark skin is flushed with red, earning sexy noises from her throat. After I repeat the same process to the other one, I look at my handy work.
Pleasure doesn’t come like it usually does when I look at the nips on her skin, and it’s really starting to bother me. I flip her under me and continue my assault on her. As I take in her curvaceous body, mental images start blurring her with that of a certain Carroway…. A human Carroway.
Shit, this isn’t going to work.
I roughly flip her on all fours and quickly slam into from behind. I grunt as she cries from the forceful connection. Her heat encases me like it has countless of times, but nothing is getting rid of Lincoln’s face in my mind. I want to hear her cries and screams. I want to hear her breath panting as she loses control over her own body. I want it to be her who comes all over my d**k, screaming my name.
Over and over I slam my c**k into Evette, trying to focus on my task, which is a first for me. I close my eyes tightly, f*****g Evette faster and harder, trying to physically push that girl out of my head.
“Oh f**k! CONSTATINOS!” she roars, squeezing her walls around my c**k. But it wasn’t her damn voice I wanted to hear.
“f**k!” I roar, pounding harder and harder, trying to regain any control over my own thoughts. I hear Evette’s screams of pleasures from the aftershocks, but it’s making me angrier that they aren’t Lincoln’s. I keep up the punishing pace until I finally find release, and pull out of her, falling into the bed with a ragged breath.
“Holy s**t…..” she pants out in a half laugh. “No offense to the previous times, but that was something else.”
I feel the bed dip as she attempts to cuddle up on my side, and I quickly sit up. “I think it’s time for you to go to your own room, Evette.” My tone wasn’t harsh, but the authority is still there. She can be pissed all she wants, but she knows that once the deed is done, we part ways.
That was the weirdest f**k session I’ve ever had. Even though I found release, it felt so damn lacking. I have to find a way to get rid of this… thing... this desire… to have the human.
I have a feeling that the next two days are going to be hell on me.
