Chapter 8 Pinecone, with the patience of an old school master, likely wondered what had gotten Davenport freaked out. Belle knew he’d take care of Julie. How many times had their childhood adventures been disrupted by surprised wildlife? They’d even once been chased off by a very unfriendly tom turkey. The snow fluffy enough to be Hollywood fake and a path already trudged through it, Davenport cut quickly across the field, breaking out of the tree line. The farmhouse and barn came into view.
