KILLER WITHIN EPISODE TWO

Martin was scared out of his mind but he had to attend to her. Who had she killed,he had no idea but she was in a terrible state. He slowly moved towards her and got her up from the floor. He had her sit on the toilet seat as he wiped her tears away.

Lexi: I'm sorry I had to kill him.

She said covering her face with both hands and crying like she had been hurt.

Martin: you need a bath.

He said as he got up, walked to the tub and opened the taps to fill the water in the bathtub, then he got the shower gel and some new towels and after that he helped her undress.

Martin: are you feeling any better?

Lexi: yes, thank you.

He nodded then watched her for a few seconds and looked away. He didn't know what to think. This was someone that could have died seventy two hours ago but here she was, very alive..

Lexi: why are you doing this for me?

Martin looked up and their eyes met.

Martin: you are my fiancee Lexi, I'm supposed to do this and more.

Lexi: I killed someone.

Martin: yes, you have mentioned that. How did you leave the hospital Lexi, I have been looking everywhere for you.

He stopped scrubbing her and was now looking at her reaction. She didn't seem to care about his concern. Something about her was different.

Lexi: what, I'm not some lost pet that you would go looking for. I found my way here didn't I?

Martin didn't respond. He got away from the tub, took a small towel and wrapped the knife that she had dropped in it then left the bathroom and when Lexi saw that, she quickly got out of the bathtub, grabbed a towel and wrapped it around her then followed Martin with her soapy self..

Lexi: where are you going?

She shouted behind him but he didn't bother to respond and that got her angry. She picked a flower pot by Martin's bedroom door and smashed it in the floor and Martin turned to look at her.

Lexi: do I have your attention now?

She asked throwing her arms in the air and he walked back to her. He took a hold of her and led her to the bedroom, he found sweatpants and one of his buggy T-shirts and threw them on the bed.

Martin: get dressed. I'm dropping you at your mother's.

Lexi: I'm not going anywhere.

Martin: I asked you a simple question Lexi and you were rude to me. I don't know what's going on with you but I don't want to be a part of it.

She said calming down and grabbing his shirt and pulling him to her. He tried to pull away from her but she wouldn't let him go.

Lexi: I'm sorry.

Martin: how did you get out that fast, in a blink of an eye, you were gone..

Lexi: I didn't...I took the pipes off me and a nurse found me in the process and attempted to shout. I attacked her before she could scream the hospital down and after I hit her, I took her clothes then pushed her under the bed and walked out only to hear you and the other nurse hurry back. I hid at one of the corners then found my way to the washrooms to properly get dressed but when I got out, I heard the nurse at the reception call and tell the guards to check all the vehicles that were driving out. I found my way out but didn't leave immediately.

She said drawing tiny circles on his chest as her fingers did a bit or caressing too.

Martin: how did you get out?

Lexi: I pushed the CCTV by the parking go face somewhere else then I hid under some car and when the owner drove out of the hospital and stopped for a few minutes waiting to get on the road I let go and fell then quickly crawled from under the car and hurriedly walked away before I got noticed by anyone.

Martin was shocked that he had to slightly move to take a good look at her..

Martin: you did what?

Lexi: can we sleep and talk about it tomorrow?

Martin: yeah I need to pee..

He got out of the bed and walked butt baked to the washrooms and the next thing she heard was the shower running..

Was she going to blame him for wanting to cool of after an intense love making session?..

She smiled and turned over to catch some sleep....

Martin was stuck in the shower for a while trying to digest everything that Lexi had told him. Was she being serious? He held the bathroom wall with both hands and let the water fall on his back. He didnt know how to handle the information Lexi had given him, was it even real and if it wasn't, how would he explain her getting out of the hospital before her time and where did she get all that energy to run around?..

Martin: what's going on with her?

He asked closing the tap and walking back to the room with a small towel in his hand so that Lexi could use it to wipe herself but she was sound asleep.

He wiped the mess off her then wore his sweatpants and left the room for the kitchen to prepare himself something as his stomach was rumbling. He had not eaten the entire day from all the tention and the worry created by Lexi that day..

Martin was uneasy as the sight of Lexi with the knife in her hand kept flashing in his eyes.. he stop whisking the eggs he had broken and walked to the trash bin where he had dumped the knife and picked it again and unwrapped it from the towel.

Martin: this is real blood... But who did she kill?

He asked himself placing the knife on the kitchen counter and staring at it..

Martin thought of calling Gloria but it was late in the night, could Gloria have been aware of what was going on with Lexi, had she visited her mother first before going to see Martin and why was Gloria so calm even after Martin mention that Lexi had been missing at the hospital?

He asked himself all those questions but couldn't find an answer so he wrapped up the knife again and this time hid it in the top shelf in one of the cabinets..

He then continued making his eggs and got a few slices of bread then left for the living room to sort his stomach.

Later that morning Martin went to bed and slept heavily and the following day being on a Saturday, he had no stuff to attend to so he thought he would extend sleep a bit then maybe take Lexi home to see her mother and maybe have a word with her on the strange thing that happened to her daughter.

He turned to Lexi's side of the bed and when he opened his eyes, the sunlight rays hit his face and he realized it was morning already but Lexi was not in bed.

He slowly got up and checked his phone for any calls or messages but there was none. He put his phone on the lamp stand and walked to the washroom. He peed then walked to the sink and washed his face and brushed his hand over his head before walking out, picking his phone and heading to the living room.

Martin: babe!

He called but there was no response..

He walked to the kitchen hoping he would find her there but she wasn't..

Martin looked around the house and when he made sure she was not in, he scrolled through his phone to get Gloria's number then called her and after a few beeps, she picked..

Gloria: Martin... Good morning.

Martin: good morning.. is she there?

Gloria: my daughter, no. Did she come home?

Martin: yes. She came home and was pretty messed up.

Gloria: did she tell you what happened at the hospital?

Martin: she did but mum, Lexi needs help.

Gloria: what kind of help Martin, what's happening with my daughter?

He took a deep breath and just before he started explaining how Lexi looked when she got home, the door opened and in walked Lexi with two bags of shopping.

Lexi: morning babe?

He was baffled and didn't know whether to stop explaining to Gloria or continue with the talk.

Gloria: hello...

There was silence as Lexi put down the bags and walked towards him. She kissed him on the lips then took the phone from him and put it away then started kissing and caressing him.

Martin: Lexi stop!

He said in a soft tone pushing her back but she had a tight grip on him. How could she be so strong.

Martin: I said stop it.

This time in a more firm tone and she stopped and looked at him.

Lexi: what! Can't I kiss my fiance anymore?

There was silence as Martin was still trying to find words for her. He needed to know what was going on with Lexy but he couldn't get it out of her if he continued petting her and letting her blackmail him with kisses and s*x.

She got off him and sat beside him.

Lexi: are you mad because I got into your wallet and took money for the shopping, I wanted to surprise you with breakfast in bed but there was nothing in the house and I didn't want to wake you.

Martin: you know I don't care about the money Lexi this is about you...

Lexi: what about me?

Martin: you came home messed up last night. You had a knife in your hand..

Lexi: a knife?

Martin: don't do that.

Lexi: don't do what?

Martin: you had a knife in your hand and it had blood on it. You told me you killed someone.

Lexi looked at him like she didn't know what he was talking about.. it's either she was acting real good or she was completely clueless of what he was talking about.

She got up then stood there facing him.

Lexi: how did I get here?

Martin: what?

Lexi: no, I'm serious Martin, how did I get here because the last thing I remember is lying on that hospital bed and seeing you walking in then suddenly you started shouting and after that, nothing!

Martin was more confused way more than Lexi was. Who had he been taking to the previous night, who confessed murder right in front of him and who did he make love to the previous night?

He took her hand and led her to the kitchen then got the knife from the top shelf and showed it to her..

Martin: this knife.... This is what you walked in holding in your hand last night.

She took a good look at the knife then shook her head..

Lexi: I have never seen that knife before. I didn't kill anyone and I don't know what you are talking about..

She walked out of the kitchen and left him. Standing there with the knife in his hand and just as he was wrapping the knife and putting it back on the shelf, He heard the door bang and he rushed to the livingroom but when he didn't see Lexi, he opened the door and caught up with her outside heading down the steps..

Martin: Lexi wait...

Lexi didn't stop.

Martin: Lexi!

She stopped and looked at him.

Lexi: Lexi huh!

Martin: I meant baby..

He said closing in on her..

Martin: I'm sorry okay...where are you going?

Lexi: home. At least my mother will not accuse me of being a murderer.

He got even closer and took her hand and pulled her in a hug and wrapped his arms tightly around her.

Martin: I'm sorry, please don't leave. I must have been in a terrible dream please stay with me.

She hugged him back then gave her a kiss on the forehead and they walked hand in hand climbing up the stairs as Lexi smiled to herself. Martin knew the only way to keep track of Lexi especially then that he didn't know who she was, was to keep her under his watch..

When they got to the door, Martin walked in with Lexi following right from behind and before he could get to the living room, Lexi took a vase that had some flowers in it and broke it on his head and Martin dropped on the floor...

Lexi jumped over him,got to the kitchen, picked the knife and ran off leaving Martin unconscious....
