The Rose Garden

1340 Words
Hannah's POV Okay maybe I was wrong about not wanting to come here because... WOW! This place is spectacular. I didn't get the chance to tour the grounds last time I was here. "How much was this house again?" Linda asked with ewe. Whilst everyone was entertaining themselves inside, I decided to take a walk around the gardens. I couldn't leave Linda behind because she was my plus one, wherever I went, she had to follow without question. "Well I didn't say but I heard that this was a $200 000 000 estate Lindz, Look at the water fountain." Unlike most water fountains that are made out of stone, theirs was Marble. It was shaped like to dolphins kissing with the water coming out in between them and flowing through their tails. They had so many flowers and roses, the garden smelled like a dream with different tones from different flowers. "look over there Lindz, There's a bench over there, we could sit and take enjoy the garden for a bit" There was a beautiful wooden bench right on the corner, under an apple tree. " You read my mind, These shoes are killing me plus I need to check my Instagram." Well I'm sure she meant that she wanted to post pictures that she took whilst we where still inside the house. I don't blame her though, it was a night to remember, pity I'm not a fan of social media platforms. Nonetheless we had to get out a bit for some air. Even though I went all out and brought designer shoes and dress, I could still feel the stares as people looked at me. It was just like the last time I was here, I hope they don't remember what happened the last time. I have had such a wonderful time I wouldn't want anything to spoil the memory of today. "Hey beautiful..." looks like I spoke too soon. It was my boss's brother again. I had spent the entire night trying to avoid him. Now he looks like he might have followed me all the way out here, what a douche! can't this guy just leave me alone for a change? There's plenty of other women in there, I'm sure he can find someone else to bother tonight. He walks towards me whilst Linda is busy doing whatever on her phone that she doesn't even notice that someone is coming our way. Oh it was Damon for sure. I could never mistake that voice or his walk for anyone else's. He walked towards us with three glasses of champagne on his hands. great, now he wants to get me drunk, he probably put roofies in those drinks. Probably not. Despite the fact that he is a total asshole, he is very handsome. He is tall and looks like he has gained some weight over the last few years. Not in bad way though, he has more more muscles than the last time I saw him. He looks even more handsome now that he is not drunk out of his mind. Last time he tried to buy me, he offered me an insane amount of money to spend a night with me. I bet that he probably has all sort of women falling at his feet so I just felt disrespected if anything else. He was throwing his wealth in my face like I was supposed to be impressed by that. I might have not been born with a silver spoon in my mouth, but I'll be damned if I sold myself. Damon Heights might be wealthy and handsome but he is a class A prick. I don't ever see myself being with someone like that. "Oh, look who's here, and he comes bearing gifts. I like it..." Of course Linda would say that. that's the exact type of thing she could say. In turn Damon looked like he was pleased with himself. "Yes, I wouldn't want you two beautiful ladies to get thirsty whilst you're enjoying the garden scenery." I took the drink and had a sip of it immediately. That's because he was looking at me like he wanted me to say something. I wanted to say thank you but I feared that he would turn it into something weird so I kept quiet, it seemed to be going well until Linda thanked him for bringing us drinks. Now if I don't say "thank you" I'll be the one acting like a spoilt prick tonight. "Thank you Damon, for the drinks..." "perhaps a peck on the lips to show some appreciation?" Damon said. See what I mean? He just knows how to spoil a good moment. Everytime he opened his mouth, he says something stupid. "God! You're impossible!" I decided to walk away before I embarrass myself and him again. Though this time we wouldn't have an audience to watch. "I'm kidding Hannah! " Doesn't matter if he was playing, I'm not going to entertain all his madness. I'm so done with this guy. "Is she always like this?" I could hear him asking Linda about me, I wasn't about to wait and see. She likes him so much, she can stay with him. I think I've overstayed my welcome. I have to go and say my goodbye's to Vivian and her parents. I went back inside the house and the party was still on, a lot of people where still partying like it was still early whilst it was well after midnight. Good thing that Vivian was occupied with a gentleman that arrived with her brother. She seemed so relaxed around him. Something that I have never seen in her. She's always stressing about one thing or the other, if it's not the editors it's the writers. Her hair was down, her shoulders where relaxed and she was laughing, not pretend laughing like she always does, but she was laughing a happy laugh. I couldn't imagine what a big guy like that was saying that would make her laugh so hard. Why can't I have someone who makes me laugh like that? "Hey, we're leaving already?" great Linda is back and guess who's with her? Damon Heights. I just can't seem to catch a break from this guy. I just wanna go home to my nice and cormfy bed wearing my oversized Harvard T-shirt. "Leaving so soon?" Why did he have to talk to me though? Why didn't Damon just walk away. I'm tired. "Yes I've called an Uber, it will be here in 5 minutes. " "An Uber? I can't let you go home with a stranger, I'll get my driver to drop you off at your place." Why is he being so nice to me tonight? He must want something, they all do, all the time. "We'll be fine, I use Ubers all the time, they're safe." I wasn't about to let his driver find out where I was living. He looked like the type that would show up unannounced at my house. "Okay then, have it your way, At least let me walk you to the gate." Why won't this guy just leave me alone! And why did he just let it go so easily? Whatever it was I had no time for it. I wasn't about to disturb Vivian so I pulled Linda and we walked out the door. we had to walk quickly because the ride was only a few minutes away. Linda and I stood outside for a few minutes and then our ride arrived. She was going to spend the night at my place. Whilst standing there we saw a lot of cars leaving the premises, I guess the party was coming to an end. Our ride arrived and I couldn't wait to jump in, I didn't want Damon to walk out and find me waiting on his driveway. I didn't say anything to Linda the whole time in the car, I had a lot on my mind and Damon was at the top of my list.
