The Earl shook his head.
“The Arabs like young, untouched, innocent girls in their harems and you cannot prevent them obtaining what they require from the countries of Europe.”
“It still frightens me to think about it,” Dalma said. “But I do agree it is something we had better leave alone, although I think that you should speak to those who run the Ports and increase inspections of the ships that might be spiriting the girls away.”
“I will speak to the Prime Minister about it and I am sure he will be very sympathetic.”
Dalma thought the Prime Minister would doubtless give the problem to her father and in some way she might become involved.
So she changed the subject and asked the Earl,
