Chapter 6

1714 Words
Alexander The sound of my alarm beeping at six-thirty in the morning woke me up from my sleep. I was having an intense headache that I mostly get after drinking a little too much alcohol. I sat down on my bed as my mind slowly drifted to the previous night's encounter with the slave girl whom I have asked to become my mate. I have been thinking about it for so long. With time running out on me, I can't afford to lose sight of the throne. It is my inheritance and I deserve to sit on it. It is safe to say that she is the only one that kept bumping into my mind all the time I was thinking about whom to have as a mate. I'm not so sure she would make a perfect luna since she is wolfless, but I will try to teach her everything she will need to know for the time being. I do feel, however, that I have made the right decision, and as it stands, I do not know much about her. Not that it is important to know her much, as she would be gone after a year. I just need her to help me become king, and even though I have failed to mention it to her, I intend to compensate her for what she is about to do for me. I got out of bed and walked over to the fridge to get some water to help with the pounding in my head. Today is the deal day and there is no backing down from it. I intend to mark her right there in front of everyone. I was headed to the bathroom when I heard a knock at the door. I wondered who could be there at this early hour. "Come in," I said to the person, furrowing my brows in anticipation. The door opened and Jessica walked in, she is looking somewhat sad and the reason is not far-fetched. I had left her last night to go after Ashley, and that may have upset her, especially since I didn't bother returning to the party after I ensured that Ashley was safe. And that took a whole lot of time, as I had to wait till the party was dismissed before I returned to my room. I couldn't leave Ashley alone at the clinic as there were few or no people around to ensure that she was safe. So I hung around the woods surrounding the clinic to ensure her safety. I don't understand why I feel I have so much connection with her, as I have never felt this way about anyone. And, from all that I am feeling, one could easily say that perhaps she is my mate. But that is where it gets complicated. My wolf has not said anything about her being my mate. It's no doubt that my human part likes her a lot, but with my wolf not claiming her, it means that she is not his mate. "Where did you go to, that you had to leave me alone at the party?" Jessica asked after some time staring at me. I apologize that I needed to go check on something and I thought that I could make it back in time, but I'm sorry I didn't," I said, running my hand through my head multiple times. "By something, you mean someone," she inquired sadly. I let out a deep sigh, wondering how she became so obsessed with me. Jessica was a sweet, loving girl while growing up. But something about her has changed, and it freaks me out. There was a time I could tell her almost anything. I could trust her with my life. But these days, especially after the last battle, I can't exactly place my hands on what is wrong. First of all, as she rightly stated, I did not invite her on that mission. To see her suddenly behind me came as a shock. And then she suddenly left without informing me, which also seemed awkward. I hate to think that my suspicion about her is right. "Are you seeing someone?" she asked while keeping steady eye contact with me in a controlled rage. I thought for a moment if I should just put her off or let her into my plans. But with what has been going on around here lately, it's difficult to even trust me. "Yes," I said reluctantly, not wanting it to come as a surprise to her when she sees or hears that I have marked Ashley. "Who is she?" she questions, trying hard to control her emotions. But her countenance gave her away. I hate the fact that she might be hurt by this new development, but the truth is that I have never romantically liked her. I very much appreciate her as my best friend, and I wish we could just leave it at that. "You will meet her sooner than you expect," I said, and paused for a while before adding. Jessica, I know you are probably hurt as I truly understand how you feel right now. But the truth is that marriage is not something you go into just because you pity someone. "If I give you what you want, what type of life do you think we are going to have?" I said to her calmly. "Is she your mate?" she asked. "Yes," I admitted. "Who is the slave girl?" "Ashley," "Who is Ashley?" "She is a new slave at the clinic," "The same girl I saw in your room last time," "Yes," She sighed deeply before walking out of the door. My first instinct was to go after her, but I kicked against it as she would need time to get a grasp on all I had just told her. ******* Jessica Maybe I should have just let him die in that battle. I regret the fact that I didn't. How could I have allowed my emotions to get the better of me? With him getting his mate, my days of hanging around him are numbered. I can't believe that after all these years, he still can't love me or fall in love with me. How foolish I was to think that he would come to love me with time. My entire life dream has always been to become the leader of the pack. I have trained tirelessly till I became the best. Still, he is about to pick a slave girl over me. My heart is more than broken. I should have taken care of that stupid girl from the onset. Now it is too late, as all fingers would point towards me easily. I have been so dumb, but not anymore. I can't sit back and watch a little miss take my rightful place as the luna of this pack. To hell with the mate bullshit. After walking for some time, I came to a stop, staring at a door. I pushed the door open and entered the house. It was still early in the morning, and as such, the servants were yet to start moving around the house. I took the stairs and walked up till I got to my destination. With a deep sigh, I knocked on the door, after which I opened the door to enter the room. The room was dark with little or no light flickering through it. I checked the bed to see that it was empty. I wondered where he had gone that early in the morning. "Looking for me?" I heard his voice call out from behind me. I turned around to face him. Even though it was dark in the room, his voice was unmistakable. I could also see that his upper body was bare, with just bare boxers hanging around his waist. "What do I own this visit?" Derrick asked as he closed the gap between us. I could almost smell his lustful desire as I felt his eyes botch their holes through my body. Before now, I would be disgusted by his lustful advances, but now I don't seem to mind. "He has found his mate," I said, not daring to look at him in the face as I didn't want him to see my hurt. I hate to be pitied by anyone, and most certainly not by Derrick. "That's not possible. He can't have a mate. I cursed him never to have one," Derrick said, brushing aside what I had just said. "He told me himself, he has found his mate," I insisted as I lifted my eyes to meet those of Derrick. I could sense his surprise as he looked a bit startled by my information. But he quickly dismisses it as he returns his gaze to me. "So is that why you have come this early to see me?" he questioned teasingly. "You know why I am here," I said, hoping there was another way I could become the luna. Only two people in the entire kingdom are eligible to become the next alpha king. I was initially sticking with Alex with the hope that he would one day make me his mate, so I could fulfill my ultimate desire of becoming the luna. But it seems that that plan is dead on arrival, and the only available option is to become Derrick's mistress, since his wife is long dead. I know that he has his eyes on the throne, and if his plans come through, he would be my ticket to the throne. He had previously promised to make me his second chance mate once he became king, but I had refused him because of my stupid affection towards Alex. But not anymore. "Yes, but I want you to say it," Derrick said teasingly, into my ears as his warm breath tingled. "I want to become the luna and that is all that is important to me," "Hmmm, so I am to assume you have also agreed to my terms and conditions," he said, hovering around me. "I will do whatever it takes," "That's my girl," he said, running his fingers over my shoulder seductively. "Now go on your knees," he said, positioning himself and gently guarding my face against his c**k.
