9 Tobias followed Carolyn back inside, the big Newfie trotting alongside them. His hand throbbed from the strain of keeping the dog's teeth from closing around it. But he would do it again, to see that expression on Carolyn's face—pure, awed gratitude. It made him feel like a hero. But he was no hero, all he could think about was crowding her against that kitchen island and feeling her body against his.
