Dinner with the cowboys and crew was a dream come true for the store clerk. Chad never imagined he would be in the company of so many men direct from his fantasies. He listened with rapt attention to their stories of life with the show, their teasing and joking, and tales of their lives before joining Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show. They whetted his appetite for fulfilling his desire to become one of them.
After the meal, Bo said, “Come on, time for chores. You’re gonna help.”
Chad followed Bo and several other men to the area where the cattle, horses, and bison were penned. Several Indians were already there feeding their horses.
