Beside the spears stood shields painted black and blue, featuring various individual designs. Brennus and Cyprian ate with the men and those women who were to fight alongside them, and after a great deal of hugging and arm-gripping, they left the hut to join the others who were congregating by the gate. When it came time to leave, the blue men and women exited and turned left, while Brennus and Cyprian walked straight ahead, both of them carrying bundles that contained food, flint, a knife, a pot, and a beaker, as well as a large animal pelt each, for protection
