“You look so beautiful in this dress, even without makeup Ma’am. I think your groom will be flattered seeing you.” The makeup artist cooed the bride.
Daisy looked at the mirror infront of her. Yes. They were right. The dress really complimented her and normally that should make her happy. But sadly, the situation she was in right now was hardly allowing her to breath.
First of all this marriage wasn’t the one fixed with her consent rather it is a forced one. She was being used as a string to merge two business enterprises apparently one is at loss and that one is none other than her one and only dad’s company. Like every other girls Daisy also wanted to marry someone who adored her, loved her, understood her, not someone whom she barely know. Sighing she lowly muttered a ‘thankyou’ to the woman who complimented her.
Flashback
It was an another evening after a hectic day at class. Daisy and her friends gathered at the café near her university. “Yah Jack. Where is your treat?” Birdy asked nudging his stomach with her elbow.
“Congratulations Jack. I’m so happy for you. Atlast your hard work paid off. How do you feel being the captain of the basketball team?” Daisy asked hhim
“I’m the happiest now. So today’s food is on me as a treat. Order whatever you want” he said making everybody scream in happiness.
Just then her phone rang. She excused yourself to attend the call. “Yes, Mom?”
“Daise honey, you’ve to return home by 5pm. We have to meet someone by 7pm.” Upon hearing her mom you squinted her eyes in confusion.
“Okay Mom. But why should I reach there 2 hours early. I mean the meeting is by 7 right? And besides I have a small party to attend.” She said looking at her group having fun at the Riverside of the café.
“No buts Daisy. You should come early and this is very important meeting. Be here at home by 5pm. Okay then, Bye.”
“But-“ her mom cut off the call before she could even utter a word. Sighing she went back to her friends. “Guys something came up, I gotta go”, Daisy said to her friends.
“Whyy?” Everybody whined.
“Is it that important? You can go later Daisy!, Come, join us” Allen, one of her other friends said.
“No guys, it’s something important. Jack you should treat me another day. Okay?” Jack nodded understanding you. “Okay you guys enjoy. I’ll see you tomorrow. Bye” with that Daisy her bid goodbye to her friends and drove back to home.
At home
“What are you even saying Mom. I don’t wanna get married to someone I don’t even know and that too next week. I’m just 22 Mom. Just 22.” Daisy yelled at her Mom.
“Daisy Flower. Stop yelling at me and get ready. We are getting late.” She yelled back at her. Daisy huffed in annoyance.
“No”, Daisy shouted.
“What’s happening here?” Her Dad came into the scene.
“Dad, what is this? You’ve fixed my marriage without asking me! Why?” Daisy asked as a lone tear slipped out of her eyes.
“Honey, you know right…our company is facing a huge financial crisis and we are doing our best to restore the company. Just then, the Shega Enterprises offered to help us. They asked for your hand in marriage with their son, Hades. He along with his father runs the company. He is a very polite and hardworking young man. I’m sure he can make you happy. And they also promised that you can continue your studies after marriage.” Her father said with hopeful eyes. She probably can’t disappoint her Dad because he has been a great support to her life and the best Dad she could ever ask for. So this is something she can do for her Dad. She slowly nodded her head as another tear flowed down her cheeks. “Don’t cry honey. Everything will be fine. Go get ready please” Again she nodded her head and went inside her room.
She wore the dress and heels told by her mom which was placed on her bed. A navy blue dress that reached till her knees and a pair of matching heels. She did her hair and sat on the bed thinking how her life crashed down Infront of her eyes. Her dream of establishing her own company, supporting her Dad, everything went in drain. Maybe that wasn’t written in her destiny. That’s what she told herself. She heard a soft knock on her door with a voice following it. “Bun, are you done?” Her brother, Sage, asked behind the door. She opened the door and hugged him. He hugged back. “Sage, I don’t want to get married!” he pulled away from the hug and placed his palms over her shoulders caressing it.
“Don’t worry Daise. Everything will be fine. As far as I’ve heard, Hades is a very smart young man and I hope he can make you happy. If he is not making you happy, just give me a call and I’ll handle him. Your brother is a superhero right?” He tried to lighten Daisy’s upset mood.
“Of course you are my superhero” she warmly smiled at him.
“Okay now I want a brighter and bigger smile on your face” and with that he started tickling her. Daisy laughed wholeheartedly showing off her beautiful set of teeth and begged for him to stop in between her giggles, “Now I want this smile to be present on your face. Everytime.” Daisy nodded smiling at him. “So let’s go” he pulled her hands and walked downstairs.
At the restaurant
Getting out of the car, Daisy’s mom turned towards you and fixed her hair “You look so beautiful, honey!”, Daisy forced a smile at her. She knew that it wasn’t a genuine smile, so she smile back an apologetic smile. All the four of them walked into the luxurious Restaurant where they’ve arranged the dinner. The whole restaurant was empty except the workers. So this only meant that they rented the whole restaurant. At the VIP section, you saw a couple in their fifties sitting across a large round heavily decorated table at the centre of the huge hall. As soon as Daisy and her family approached them, they stood up from their place and greeted all of you with a sweet smile plastered on their faces. “Aww Daisy, you’re so pretty. I’m sure my son will like you” Mrs. Shega cooed. Daisy smiled nodding at them and muttered “Thank you Mrs. Shega.”
“Hades got a little busy with work, He’ll be here in few minutes.” Mr. Shega said looking at all of you apologetically. “And talking about him, here he is. Hades, this is Mr. and Mrs. Evans along with their son Sage and daughter Daisy.” Daisy felt someone’s presence behind her.
Then, she felt someone taking the seat next to her, maybe because that was the only seat left in that table. She looked up to see the man who will be her future husband. Her eyes widened in shock, it was him. The man whom she saw three years before and felled in love at first sight, but what was he doing here?, wouldn’t he’d be already married. If she remembered correct the time when she saw him first she was mesmerized by his aura so she did some research on him and sadly she found that he was soon to get married. He still looked devilishly handsome. That’s the only word she could use to describe him. His bewitching chocolate brown orbs looked into hers with almost no emotion. His beautiful nose had a mole at the tip of it adding beauty to his already handsome face. His rosy demanding lips glided whenever he talked. His jaw sharp as knife, his raven hair jelled and swept on either sides of his head with forehead exposed. Everything about him screamed perfection. He cleared his throat. That is when Daisy realized that she were shamelessly staring at him like some weird creep. Her cheeks burned in embarrassment. She fake coughed and darted her eyes on her hands placed on her thighs. Throughout the whole dinner, he had his blank expression embracing his handsome face and only talked when asked about one thing or other thing. Mrs. Shega and her mother were in their own world talking about some random things.
Mr. Shega, Hades, Daisy’s dad and her brother were talking something related to business. While she was sitting there feeling lonely, practically jobless, so she just sat there poking the food with fork since playing with her phone would be impolite in front of elders and that too in a ‘family’ dinner.
“Daisy and Hades, don’t you wanna talk and know more about each other?” Mr. Shega asked looking at Daisy and Hades.
Before Daisy could even open her mouth, Hades replied. “No it’s okay. I don’t have anything to talk, you’ve already arranged it right?” He asked his father.
“Yeah but still, Daisy, honey don’t you want to have a word with him” Mr. Shega asked her.
She knew that there is no use in talking to him because it will most probably be like you are talking to a wall. “No it’s okay” she forced a smile at him. Hade’s cold aura lingered the atmosphere around him, making Daisy suffocate because this was probably not what she expected. Yes, it was correct that she fell for him first but it was three years before. Many things had changed in pass three years and one of those things were that Hades was not her type.
He completely opposite of her and definitely not her “Cup of tea.”
“So just as we fixed, the marriage will be held on next week”, Daisy’s father said. Then after a few more talks and her family bid goodbye to the Shega’s and parted their ways.
Two days after that awkward gathering Mrs. Shega called Daisy’s mom and asked her if she okay to send Daisy with Hades to by Daisy’s wedding dress. And as expected Daisy’s mom was more than sure.
Meanwhile Daisy was in her room working on her assignments. “Daisy, honey!”, her mom called from downstairs. “Yes, mom coming”, answering her she rushed downstairs to her mother.
“Honey get ready, Hades will be here at any minute”, her mom told her.
“May I ask why is that man coming?”, Daisy raised her brow.
“That man?!, Daisy Evans be careful with your choice of words he’s your soon to be husband, now go and get ready you are going to buy your wedding dress”, Daisy’s mom scolded her.
Daisy without saying a word went upstairs because she knew that there was no point in arguing with her. She quickly got ready and sat on bed staring blankly at the white wall. “What am I even doing?”, she asked herself. She was lost in her thoughts until she heard a horn outside her home. He must be here she thought and quickly went downstairs.
She quietly sat on his car and pretended that she was invisible to make it less awkward. After a drive of nearly 15 Minutes Hades pulled over near a luxury boutique.
Daisy and Hades both entered in that luxury boutique.
“Please show us the dresses which my mother booked yesterday”, Hades asked.
The lady asked them to rest on the couch till she brought those pretty dresses.
Daisy’s eyes widened when she saw those dresses, they were indeed very pretty.
“Can I have your cell phone?”, Hades suddenly asked Daisy.
Daisy nodded and handed Hades her cell phone, Hades typed something in it and returned it back to her with a black card.
“Shop whatever you like and call me when you are done”. He said coldly.
“Can’t you wait, I wouldn’t take much if your time”, Daisy pleaded.
“Why would I ?”, Hades asked.
“May be because I am your soon t be wife”, Daisy answered this time her tone getting shades of anger.
“I DON’T CARE”, Hades replied back pronouncing every word slowly and clearly. With that he left.
“Jerk”, Daisy murmured.
After finalizing the dress Daisy made her way out of the boutique and walked towards the road to catch a cab. She didn’t wanted to call that jerk who left her all on her own. She was walking towards the road while being lost thinking about a number of things. She didn’t notice the truck coming towards her, the time she noticed was already too late. She looked at her left side and saw the truck coming towards her soon to hit her. She wanted to move but she just couldn’t it seemed like her legs were dead. The truck was just about to hit Daisy but somebody pulled her backwards. Daisy eyes were tightly shut, she was shivering in fear.
“Am I dead?”, Daisy murmured to herself still shivering.
“No you aren’t”, a known voice answered. Daisy looked up to see the owner of the voice.
It was Hades.
There eyes met for a minute which felt like eternity. When Daisy came back to her senses she harshly pushed Hades away.
“Stay away from me”, she said her voice stiff.
Hades just ignored her words and grabbed her wrist.
“I’ll drop you home”, he announced.
“Not need mister someone who left me alone in the big shop”, Daisy mimicked wiggling her wrist to get free from Hades tight grip.
Listening her words Hades looked at her for a second and pulled her right close to him. So close that Daisy could hear his heartbeat.
“Look lady, I have no intentions to argue with you nor I have a tiny bit of interest in you, the thing is that you are my responsibility right now and I need to take you home back, ALIVE” Hades said with an icy tone.
“I am capable of going home myself so please,” Daisy argued.
“Do you want me to pick you up and shove you in the car Ms. Evans”, Hades said with a dreadful voice making Daisy eyes widened.
“Okay, let’s go”.
