Chapter Three,
Silence lingered in the atmosphere throughout the ride towards Daisy’s soon to be shared mansion aka Daisy’s soon to be home. Neither of them spoke. About some ten minutes later, the blurry view of the gigantic mansion came up, that stood alone at the center of a massive plot. Trees and bushes surrounded the whole place, and a beautiful garden with a giant fountain was present in front of the mansion.
The driver stopped the car by its long front-entry porch. Hades jumped out of the car as soon as both of them reached the mansion. Without sparing a glance at Daisy, he strode hastily into the huge living room. The wedding dress was really heavy, and the high heels weren’t even doing good to her. She let out a frustrated huff.
“Ah at least be a gentleman Sir, even if you don’t like me!, jerk”, Daisy murmured under her breath looking at the retreating figure of her newly-wed husband. The driver came out of the car and opened the door for her as if he heard her talking to herself. Mumbling a ‘thank-you’ to him, she slowly moved out of the car.
Entering the mansion, her jaws dropped at its grandeur. The living room was lavish, with a gigantic chandelier hanging out from the high ceiling. The mansion was elegant from outside and splendid from inside, but one thing that makes a house a home wasn’t present. The warmth one should feel in a house lacked here. It felt like she entered a prison, a beautiful, lavish prison.
“His father already have a massive mansion like this, then why would he live here all alone? Ugh, I can’t even breathe properly in a silent place. This is suffocating me. How will I survive the rest of my life here!” Daisy exclaimed to herself while glancing the surrounding.
Just then, a lady in her early forties came walking towards her. She stood before her and bowed. “Hello Mrs. Shega. I’m Mary. I take care of this mansion, and its surroundings.” She brightly smiled at Daisy. At least someone here is smiling at me, phew!, Daisy thought.
“Hello Daisy. I’m Daisy Flower Evans. You can call me Daisy or even better, call me Daise, I love when people call me that”, She said smiling at her. She nodded, smiling and mumbled an ‘okay’.
“Okay I’ll take you to your room” she said and guided Daisy to her bedroom. “What? My room! If I’m not wrong, married people share a room. What is with him? Does he hate me to that extent where he can’t stay with me in the same room!”, Even though Daisy had already expected things like this, but many questions like this filled in her mind which were apparently answerless.
“Miss Daisy, all your belongings are kept here and this is the dress Mrs. Shega has bought for you. She told me to inform you that she expects you to wear this one for the wedding reception, which will be held in the evening.” She said, pointing at the beautiful red dress that was neatly placed on the soft mattress. Mary then walked out of the room after bowing at Daisy. She stopped by the door and turned around. “And Miss, Mr. Shega doesn’t like his privacy being disturbed. He will inform you once he’s comfortable.” She said and walked out of the room.
Comfortable with whom? Me! Then why did he agree to marry me in the first place. Damn, I am so done, already.
Meanwhile, Hades slammed the door behind him. He leaned on the closed door and heaved out a sigh of frustration as he rubbed his forehead and dragged himself towards his big, comfy bed. Flashbacks rewound inside his head, those thoughts already giving him a nasty headache. Oh! How he wish he never married anyone in this life. His hands groped for his wallet inside the pockets of his pants. He took it out once his hands caught it and sat on the cold mattress, which kind of gives him solace through the nightmares. Opening the wallet, he glanced at her photo that he saved from being discarded by his Dad. His fingertips grazed her alluring features. Even in this mere photograph, she looked breathtaking. The girl whom he once addressed as his woman and he will forever address as “mine”. “I will not allow anyone else to take your position in my heart, love. No one in this world.”, He talked to her photo as a lone tear broke into his cheek from his left eye.
