Chapter 2

LEONARDO’S POV. “That voice, I can never mix it up with another woman’s.” I say to my best friend, Brad. Who is seated on the rugged floor of my new apartment with a cup containing scotch in his hand and he raise a brow. “You mean Brie’s?” He asks and I frown. “Yes, but don’t ever call her Brie. It is Gabi for you. I am the only one who has the right to call her Brie.” I say and gives out a bitter laugh. “Anyone who hears you now will think you got along with her and loved her.” He says and I sit on the sofa and bury my face in my palms. “Who said I didn’t love her? It only took me so much time to find out how much I love her. The last I saw of her was her tears stricken face that afternoon five years ago before she took her car ended up in a planned accident. The fact that I was with a b***h I didn’t even care about that day hurts me so much. She loved me and I knew it. She had my child in her and all I could offer her was my ruthlessness. I should have showered my naive wife with so much love, be a happy man and grow a happy family with her, but no I was…” “An asshole.” He says cutting me off and I let the tears I have been holding back since fall. After the cops reported to me that my wife’s accident was planned, they tried to find the hoodlums that planned the accident but couldn’t find them. As for Aurora, she is still there but there is no relationship between me and her other than pure a business relationship. Gabriela’s body wasn’t found and I was given a lot of hope that maybe she isn’t dead, but they still have not been able to find her. If Brie was alive, she would have tried to find me. Won’t she? “Don’t think too much. You have left your reputable office for acting because Gabi was an actress and we are still searching for her. If she is alive we will surely find her and there is a possibility that she will be looking for you too.” He says and I shake my head. “I am not hard to find. If she is still alive, she must have given up on me. After all, I wasn’t a loving husband to her. She doesn’t know how much I love her and miss her. How she has been the only woman since she signed that contract five years ago.” I reply and he stands up hand over a glass of scotch to me. “We will find her and you can win her heart again if she is still alive. Now, tell me about the lady you said have the same voice as Brie… sorry, Gabi.” He says and I sigh. “She is my supposed partner in this upcoming movie.” “Tell me more. Is she beautiful? Does she have the curves in the right place?” He asks and I shake my head. “I thought you became a good boy after Laura.” I say. “Don’t mention Laura’s name again. She broke my heart. I thought she was different from other girls. Although, she is different but the fact that she was looking for Gabi and her head was messed up doesn’t mean she should break up things between us. I should have gotten her pregnant then.” He says, sadness hinted in his voice as he speaks. “You two might still get back together later.” I say and he gives out a bitter laugh. “I hope so. That is if she hasn’t found another man in Seattle.” He says bitterly and gulp down the rest of the scotch in his glass. “She loved you and just like Brie, she is a good woman.” I say. “Right. Now, tell me why you said she gave you the type of feeling you had the first time you met Gabi.” He says and I nod. “Apart from the fact that she has the same voice as Brie, she also has her eyes. Also, her shirt opened when she tripped exposing her cleavage to me.” “You must have gotten a serious hard on.” He interrupts. “I should have, but no. That was the exact opposite. Instead of getting a boner, I couldn’t get the image of the mark on her cleavage out of my mine. It is the exact mark I made on Brie’s cleavage with a knife in the bathroom five years ago to mark her as mine.” I tell him. “She must be Gabi.” He says and I give out a bitter laugh. “I wished so, but she isn’t my Brie. She doesn’t even look like her.” I say. “I would have said she is Gabi, with a change of face. Maybe a plastic surgery was done, but did she recognize you?” He asks. “No. Instead, she put out her hand for a handshake and hope to see me around.” I say remembering her words in the office earlier. “Then she is not Gabi, what is her name?” He asks. “Isabella.” I reply.   ISABELLA’S POV. “Lady Ann.” I say with enthusiasm and she smiles richly. “Isabella dear.” She says and give me a brief hug. “Where is Marianna?” I ask and she gestures to the play ground. Where, Mari is playing with the other orphanage kids. “She just completed her assignment.” Lady Ann tells me and I give Mari, who isn’t looking at my side a smile. “I will go and talk to her now. I got chocolates, from the store where I got the baking powder.” I say and she shakes her head. “Chocolates aren’t good for children.” “No, Lady Ann. She loves it and she will always get it. I just adore her so much. She doesn’t know who her parents are, yet she does not let it weigh her down.” I look at a happy Mari who is laughing with her friends. “Her mother maybe closer than you think.” Lady Ann says dreamily. “If her mother is close, then she must be the biggest fool to leave such an adorable girl by herself to grow without a mother or her father.” I say and wipe the lone tear that rolls down my cheek. “We can’t say. Tell me more about your next movie.” She says with a small laugh. “My legs are killing me from wearing this stupid killer stilettos for hours.” I reply. “Let us go in then.” She says and we both walk in, but not before I give a quick glance at Mari. Tugging off the stilettos, I sit on the sofa next to Lady Ann and enjoy the feel of the fluffy rug beneath my feet. “For reasons best known to Nicholas, I had to stay extra thirty minutes after our closing hour and every minute counted because I have to bake Mari’s cake.” I tell her and she nods. “Tell me more.” She says. “Old lady.” I say teasing her and she adjusts her spectacle. “Are you not going to date? It has been more than five years now, it is going to six years.” She says. “I just haven’t found the perfect guy.” I tell her honestly. “What’s your kind of guy, maybe I should set you up for blind dates?” She suggests. “No, I am an actress. If I need a guy, I will find one immediately.” I tell her. “What about the new guy?” She asks. “You mean Leonardo?” “Yes.” She replies. “No. No man has been able to meet up to my expectations and he doesn’t look like someone I will end up with. He looks like the hard type and I look like a fake happy woman with a lot of health issues.” I say. “The doctor said you will be fine.” She encourages me. “That is if I don’t step into an elevator or a totally enclosed area.” I reply. “Mommy!” Mari’s voice booms in the hall way as she gets to the door and smile richly at me, making me open my mouth in shock. “Mommy?”
