Chapter 4Lsabella's pov :
I returned to my residence and took my tired mind to the bathroom to take a shower.
The warm water gently caressed my body, which made me feel better.
"Do you remember when you first picked Xavier up?"
Nut jumped in at this point, opening the conversation abruptly.
"Of course I remember," I closed my eyes in the water and recalled that time: "He was malnourished, looked very skinny and was covered in bruises, and he was going to be eaten by wild animals when I came one step late.
He looked like he had suffered a huge trauma, his eyes were empty and numb, but he didn't say anything when you asked him. The wolf doctor said he must not survive, but I looked at his poor face and just didn't want to give up on him."
Nut lounged leisurely with her paws on, her words were few and far between, mostly listening and only making a few comments on the rare occasions.
"The good thing is that Xavier is recovering well."
"Yes, at that time I insisted on feeding him every day, and when he had recovered a bit, I dragged him to train. He was half a head shorter than me then, and now he's already so much taller than me, it's really emotional when you think about it."
Nut nodded thoughtfully: "Now Xavier is so strong, but still willing to stay in the Blood Moon Pack as Beta, it is also very rare."
"When he was first rescued, he was not happy to stay in the Blood Moon Pack, I guess he just had no place to go, otherwise he would have escaped.
I don't know what's going on, but now he's so strong that he's perfectly capable of serving as the Alpha of a clan, yet he's still willing to stay by my side. But I'm sure I'm grateful to him, I'm surrounded by enemies now, and it's a good thing I have him with me, otherwise, it would be a hard time for me."
"Yes," Nut calmly spat out, "you were just a little one at that time, but you fought to save Xavier and placed him in the wolf pack despite the clan's opposition. This incident is still a beautiful story of the wolf pack to this day, and I think Xavier will be touched by you."
Which wolf pack would circulate such a beautiful story, I was a little ashamed: "It was the wolves who exaggerated things."
"But with the intuition of a wolf, I always feel that Xavier has another purpose for staying by your side so faithfully."
The nut is my life coach, but Xavier is also my most important friend in life: "But Xavier and I grew up together, and I think these ten years together have made me know him well enough that I know and trust him as a person."
A hot shower could only bring a moment of peace to my mind. I sat on the couch, remembering the recent events, and fell back into anguish. I didn't know where the way out for our pack was, and what could I do to break the ice with my pack?
"You can go to Jasper, he is your MATE, won't he help you?"
This was the only time I felt Nut's advice was unreliable: "Jasper simply despises me, and his sidekick Charlotte is also counting on me, I'm not jumping into a trap by myself by going to him?"
The sudden ringing of the doorbell interrupted my argument with Nut.
"Xavier?" I called out to my Beta, but he seemed to have gone out.
I got up and opened the door and there was a Beta standing outside the door.
"Hello, Miss Lsabella. I'm Beta from Blue Moon Pack. Mr. Jasper sent me to invite you over and he said you know the topic of tonight's conversation."
Jasper really sent me an invitation, so it was very necessary for me to meet him tonight.
"Okay, I got it, I'll change my clothes and go over."
Although I had heard before that there were differences in the residences of the Alpha's, I didn't expect such a big difference.
Jasper's residence was glorious like a palace, with a row of couches displayed in the huge living room, and he was sitting on the middlemost couch, with a pile of closed papers and half a glass of wine on the table in front of him.
Not having seen Charlotte, I wondered if she would kill it midway.
I focused my gaze on the man in front of me, my MATE, whom the moon goddess had chosen for us despite our previous unhappy encounters. I could smell that faint scent again, and I figured he should smell it too.
I sat down on the couch across from Jasper.
He stared at me from the moment I entered the room until I was seated and he finally spoke, "Do you know why I came to see you?"
"Of course, you came to me to settle our MATE relationship."
"And do you know what a MATE relationship is?"
"It's a mate chosen for us by the goddess of the moon."
"Wrong," he smiled coldly, "a MATE relationship is an affiliation, a shortcut for a woman to get reasonably close to a powerful man."
I did my best to suppress the anger in my chest and resist the urge to punch him on the spot.
He turned out to really despise me at all and continued to humiliate me even when he found out I was his MATE.
"That's a real jerk." The nut couldn't help but spit in my head as well.
I couldn't stay here any longer, I stood up: "So Jasper-san found me here just to humiliate me, if you don't see me, just dissolve the relationship with me directly, why make things difficult for each other?"
I didn't wait for Jasper's answer and was about to leave. The moment I walked around the sofa towards the door, he suddenly got up and grabbed my arm, pulling me in his direction.
I lose my weight and fall backward as he presses over, trapping me in a corner of the long couch.
I was running out of patience, my eyes flashing green: "Let go of me!"
But my wolf eyes didn't deter her.
"As long as you dare to leave, I will exterminate your wolf pack."
He actually threatened me with this?
This threat was deadly to me, but I couldn't understand what Jasper's motive was. He despised me and didn't want me to be her MATE, but he wouldn't allow me to leave either.
"What the hell do you want me to do!"
Jasper's face was close in front of my eyes, he looked my face up and down, then his gaze went all the way down and finally landed on my chest, and I saw the obscure, unintelligible glint in his eyes.
"Just two months, you come back to Blue Moon Pack with me for two months, and I promise to leave your wolves alone."
Jasper let go of me, and he took a few steps back, his gaze still falling on mine, but his thoughts seemed to drift away.
"I need to know why."
He smiled coldly, returning to the tone and demeanor that had annoyed me before, "You don't need to know why, the weak only need to follow orders."
Jasper wasn't wrong, I was indeed a weakling, but I was still furious when he told me this truth. I kicked in the carved wooden door of his villa.
There was a loud bang and the door shook twice and cracked open a huge gap.
Jasper's Pov:
Set condemned my actions in my head, "Why did you hurt your mate? She was the choice of the moon goddess."
My eyes swept over the shattered carved wooden door, following the gap all the way down before my eyes finally rested on the huge crack underneath it.
I thought again of her last night in the moonlight after transforming into her form, when she bit off an Alpha's arm with one bite.
"That's a funny woman."
"What?"
"I said...I just needed one thing from her. But she just happened to be my MATE, and that's just asking for it."
Set sighed in my head, "You'll pay for what you did."
I sneered, "Have I ever been afraid of a price?"
Xavier's Pov:
Lsabella came back from outside and I saw that she didn't look too good.
"What happened?" I walked over to her and tried to comfort her.
Just a moment closer to her, a wolf's scent caught me.
It was a strange smell, and my chest instantly welled up with annoyance that some strange man was near Lsabella.
Lsabella didn't notice my sudden abnormality, she was so exhausted that she slumped on the sofa and didn't even have the strength to look up at me: "Something did happen, but I don't know how to tell you."
I forced myself to calm down, it was important to calm Lsabella first.
I poured her a glass of wine and handed it to her, "You can drink some wine to calm her down."
Lsabella drank the whole glass of wine in one gulp, and her face looked much more soothed.
I squatted down in front of her and looked up at Lsabella: "Now can you tell me what happened?"
"I went to see Jasper-Adolf, the Alpha of the Blue Moon Pack."
Hearing that name, my hand that took the glass shook and a few drops of dark red liquid dripped on Lsabella's white dress.
"Ah, sorry!" I rushed to help wipe it with a handkerchief, but the red wine had already penetrated into the fabric and couldn't be wiped clean.
"It's okay, it's just a dress. Wait for me, I'll go and change it."
I subconsciously pulled Lsabella's arm, she looked back at me in confusion.
I stood up and made a haphazard excuse: "Take a hot bath, by the way, to relieve fatigue."
Lsabella thought briefly for two seconds: "Makes sense."
"I'll wait until you've finished your shower before we talk."
"Won't it be too late? Let's talk tomorrow otherwise."
"No," I smiled tenderly at Lsabella, "I'll always wait for you, always."
