Teagan
I was a little surprised when Tamara's voice came through our mind link asking me to open the front door for her. As soon as I did, her wolf darted into the house, up the stairs, and straight to our bedroom.
I was quick to close the door and sprint up the stairs behind her, and that's when I noticed she had a little bit of blood on the back of her neck. Instantly, I was filled with concern and felt the need to inspect her wound.
As soon as we got to our bedroom, I sternly stated, "Tamara, lie your ass down and let me look at that wound."
She immediately whimpered at me, but she did what I said and lied down. I moved her fur around to see a small puncture that was already starting to heal, but there was a little bit of blood still oozing out of it.
Since she was already in her wolf form, I knew it would heal faster if she stayed in that form, so I instructed her not to shift back until told otherwise. She lied on the floor whimpering for a few minutes, then she fell asleep and our room went silent.
I had no clue how she got that wound, but I wasn't gonna let her leave our bedroom without telling me. I sat on the edge of the bed and watched her sleep in her wolf form for almost an hour before I reached my foot down and gave her wolf a little nudge.
At first she growled at me, but she stopped as soon as I snapped, "Knock that s**t off."
A few seconds later, she stretched out her limbs, then she stood up and rubbed the side of her body against my bare legs that were dangling over the edge of the bed. It always tickled whenever she did that, and there was no stopping me from giggling.
Once I got my giggling under control, I checked the wound on her neck to see that it had fully healed. As soon as I let her know, Tamara didn't waste any time shifting back to her human form, then she took off to the bathroom.
The second I heard the shower turn on, I hopped off the bed and walked to the bathroom. When I got there, she was already in the shower, but that didn't stop me from asking, "What happened to your neck? Did you and Dustin get in a fight?"
Tamara chuckled on the other side of the lime green shower curtain, then she cheekily answered, "Nah, we just had some fun in our wolf forms, if you know what I mean."
"Fun that causes you to get injured like that?" I asked in disbelief.
"If you ever have s*x in your wolf form, you will understand. Just know that we didn't get in a fight, and Dustin didn't purposely hurt me. He was actually surprisingly sweet. He begged me to stay and be his chosen mate," she calmly informed me.
"Did you agree?" I immediately asked.
"No, I told him to go search for his fated mate. He is adamant that he won't leave to search for her until mum and dad return," she answered with indifference.
"Do you think you'll miss him enough to return?" I curiously asked.
"I'll miss him to some extent, but not enough to return. It's a sweet gesture, but I don't want a mate right now, especially one that's not even my fated mate," she stated with honesty.
I stayed in the bathroom and leaned against the sink's counter while we talked. I didn't make any attempt to leave until I heard the water turn off, then I walked back into our bedroom.
Tamara emerged from the bathroom a minute or so later with a towel wrapped her body. She looked genuinely happy at that moment, and I couldn't help but to wonder if she was happy about Dustin asking her to be his mate, or if she was happy about leaving in the morning.
The answer to that was revealed as she pulled on a pair of black, satin pajamas and excitedly mumbled, "I can't wait to get on the road in the morning. I have a strong feeling that this trip is going to be epic."
"I hope you're right. I'm so ready for more excitement in our lives," I replied with enthusiasm.
"You and me both, sis," Tamara agreed with a smirk on her face.
After Tamara was done getting dressed, we hung out with our younger siblings and played card games with them for a few hours. They loved to get large games of War going, and we could pass days worth of time doing that, if our parents would have let us all skip a night or two of sleep.
I was going to miss my family if we didn't return with our parents, but it was one of those things that was bound to happen eventually. That being said, we might as well start getting used to it sooner than later.
When it became obvious that the game of War was going to continue for awhile, Tamara and I both purposely lost, so we could head to bed. However, I still needed to take a shower, so I did that first.
I didn't realize just how much tension I was carrying in my muscles until that hot water hit my back and started soothing them. I wasn't surprised by it, since I was feeling a little nervous about leaving in the morning. Don't get me wrong. I was still super excited, but I couldn't help being a wee bit nervous, too.
After I got out of the shower, I pulled my hair back in a braid, then I went to the closet and pulled on a pair of red booty shorts and a white tank top. It was one of my favorite types of sleeping attire.
As soon as I climbed under the blanket on my bed, I turned off the lamp that Tamara had left on for me. A second later, I heard Tamara drowsily ask, "Do you think Dustin was being serious? He said he was, but it seems so unbelievable."
"I think that he thinks he wants to be with you right now. However, I also think that if his mate showed up before you two marked each other, he would end up kicking you to the curb," I warily answered.
"I was thinking the same thing. Thanks for being honest with your opinion about it," she mumbled in response.
"Anytime, sis. I love you. Goodnight," I immediately replied, as I made sure my alarm was set on my cellphone.
"Love you, too. Goodnight," she whispered followed by complete silence.
I lied there for a little bit and thought about the situation with Tamara and Dustin. As tough and thick-skinned as she acted, she was still a she-wolf with feelings and emotions.
Tamara could act like Dustin didn't have an effect on her all she wanted, but I knew her well enough to know that wasn't the case. She cared about him more than she would ever admit, and I was concerned that all of this was going to be harder on her than she expects.
