Chapter 5 : Growl

1058 Words
"I'll go get it." Hyungwon disappears towards the direction of the kitchen while I head to the front door. Dragging my palms down the fabric of my pants, I smooth out the invisible crease as I make a sharp turn. Something tells me Hyungwon's finding for another excuse so the next time I bring up the same question, he'll have something to answer me. I can't help but wonder what it is he's hiding honestly. All I want to know is where he disappeared off to after the birthday party and why he hasn't returned home since then. It's a simple question to answer honestly. Unless of course, he's doing illegal things that could put himself and our parents in a bad position then that would probably explain why he isn't telling me anything. But I know how Hyungwon is. He's not capable of doing something like that. Because if he was, then the same would apply to the rest of our circle of friends. I run my fingers through my hair before gliding my palm down the fabric of my shirt to get rid of the invisible creases. When I open the front door, my eyes fall to the three familiar faces standing outside. Josh sends me a soft smile as Matt does the same. Callyx on the other hand flinches when I charge at him with a hug first. "I haven't seen you in ages. I thought I wouldn't see you again. " I feel his tense muscles finally soften as I nuzzle against his warmth. The exaggeration in my words causes a smile to crawl up Callyx lips as he slowly wraps his arms around my body. Then he's lifting me up and spinning me around, erupting laughter from my mouth. It's making me dizzy though. "Okay, I get it. You missed me too. Now put me down." I'm not ready to puke my snacks out yet. A chuckle escapes his lips before my feet finally come in contact with the floor. Callyx sets my hair to the side and makes me meet his eyes with his fingers around my chin. There he shows me the smile I missed so much. "Hi." He muses in a whisper, to which I respond with a smirk. "I heard you were avoiding me." I tell him. I watch as the line of his eyebrows meet together in question. "And where'd you hear that from?" I shrug my shoulders, pulling my chin away from his grasp. "I have my ways. " A snicker meets both mine and Callyx's ears. Turning, I find Josh pouting cutely with his arms crossed over his chest causing the fabric of the white shirt he's wearing to scrunch. "How come he gets a hug and we don't? I playfully roll my eyes and step away from Callyx. I fail to notice the glare that crosses his face when I give my whole attention to Josh. "Didn't we just see each other yesterday? Matt on the other hand." I haven't seen this guy ever since Callyx disappeared too. He immediately returns the hug the moment I wrap my short arms around him. Matt's about six inches taller than me so I'm basically leveled side by side with his torso. The guy shows me his box smile causing my heart to beat widely against my chest. If this person's planning to kill me, then it's definitely working. I'm a sucker when it comes to pretty smiles. And faces. "Don't tell me you caught a cold too." I say to the boy, pinching lips into a pout. "You didn't even answer my calls." Matt pokes my cheek with a slender finger and says. "I was busy. And no. I wasn't sick." The reunion ends when Callyx decides to step in between me and Matt. He pushes me behind him and glares at the brunette thinking I can't see him. What's up with him? Scrunching my nose slightly, I'm left in the dark. Callyx takes my hand and then drags me to the living room. When I glance behind me, I'm relieved to see that Matt isn't showing any discomfort from the behavior of my best friend. But if I were him honestly, I'd have already felt bad. He's acting weird. Normally, he wouldn't be glaring at people. Especially to those close to him. "Are you okay?" I ask, pulling my hand away from his. Callyx hums. "Yeah. Why wouldn't I be?" Once I've reached the living room, he turns the tv screen on and pushes me to take a seat. "You're still into this?" He asks, referring to the show playing: Miraculous Ladybug. He's always thought the animation's just for kids but I thought otherwise. If anything, it's the only thing I'm willing to watch. "Are you complaining?" I respond with a raised eyebrow. If he has a problem with what we watch, then he can leave. Callyx glances at me with a chuckle. "Not at all." He then taps on the next episode much to my surprise. I think I caught a glimpse of Josh making his way to the kitchen. Hyungwon should be there to keep him company. The movie starts playing but I'm interrupted when Callyx suddenly lays his head on my lap. "Hey." "I'm sleepy." "And my legs are sore. Get off. " He doesn't. Instead, he makes a show and brings his fist to cover his mouth to cough. "Is this how you talk to someone who's sick?' I roll my eyes to the heavens but decide to just play along. Five minutes into the movie, Matt shows up from the hallway to ask. "Hey Eira, can I borrow your charger? My batteries dead." "Yeah, I'll go get it for you." I try to get up, but Callyx quickly grabs hold of my legs to prevent me from standing. What in the world? "Hey." I poke his arm. "Can you let go for a while?" And besides, my legs feeling numb already. He only tightens his arms around my hips when I try to get up again. "Callyx-" I stop yourself. Although his back's facing me, that doesn't stop me from feeling the vibration coming out from him. Soon followed by an animal-like sound that causes me to freeze like a stick in the north pole. Did he just growl at Matt?
