The nurse comes in the following morning with my discharge papers. "Are you ready to take your precious girl home?"
Not remotely. I'm terrified to be on my own. I have no idea what to do with a three-day old baby. Am I supposed to sit on the couch with the boppy all day and watch TV in between bouts of nursing? I text Violet in a state of panic.
Lisa: SOS, I'm getting discharged this morning. I don't know what to do...
An awful thought hits me - how am I going to shower? Or pee? How do I parent this tiny creature and take care of myself?
Violet: Don't worry! I'll be over with some freezer meals after work today. In the meantime, take it easy and get to know your baby.
