Chapter Two

We were currently driving down the long road that led to the entrance of my father's territory. To anyone outside the unknown, it looked like a normal road that led to a normal place. To anyone from the unknown especially those that weren't from The Aescula pack, it was a no-go area where many wolves warn their pups and families to avoid like a plague. My Father's cruelty and ruthlessness was known in the unknown especially the way in which he became an Alpha. A few ignorant humans who have found themselves in this territory never made it back. Instead they became food to the creatures my father captured and confined in a cavern. Dylan drove us to the end of the road, the end of our journey by a vehicle and we both dismounted from the car. Thick forest stared ahead of us, the entrance of the territory. I knew there was no way I could get to my father's house without the help a shifter seeing as the distance and the path there was not an easy place for two human feet to walk. The long distance and specific location was something only a wolf could know. "Bet you're regretting the words you said earlier huh?." Dylan smirked. I wanted nothing more than to punch the smirk off his annoying face. He was referring to when I had called him useless earlier. And even though I knew he was my only way to get in, I would never admit to him that I was wrong. "I'm not so useless after all or am I?." his smirk only got wider and that irritated me to a great extent. "Are you gonna shift already or you're gonna keep saying s**t. For all I know my bastard of a father could have ordered the decollation already. I would have you face the same fate if we get there too late." I spat. Dylan rolled his eyes. "You never cease to amaze me. You're still an arrogant prick even when we both know that I'm your only ticket to get in." "Can you f*****g stop talking already. Pen could be in pain for all I know." "Fine. Be prepared for the fastest and most adventurous ride you'd ever take in your life. Now brace yourself and hold on tight. We don't want you scream like a princess." Dylan taunted and I would have threw him a punch had the coward not quickly shifted to his wolf form. Dylan's wolf was bit, not as big as an alpha's but big enough for a beta. Unlike his brown hair, his wolf had brown and black fur and was almost reaching my waist. He had golden brown eyes just like his human eyes. I sat on it's back before kicking it's hip with my leg like you would a horse. Why did I do that? No reason, I just felt like it. And then he took off running. The cool breeze sang in my ears and blew my hair everywhere. Every image was in a blur and went by changing to another in a flash. I grabbed tighter on he's thick furs with both hands as I realized that I was sliding off. It got to a time that I had to duck my head to be on the same level as Dylan's after getting struck in the face three times. I didn't know if the animal did it on purpose but the forest trees branches had slapped me in the face one two many times as Dylan ran through the forest. At least if our head was almost at the same level, it would hit him too. I was sure I already have a cut on my face. I'll be sure to reward him handsomely if I did find out one of those branches had cut me. Ten minutes of running and we still hadn't reached halfway yet. The distance from the border to the great ol mansion was about fifty miles and that is exactly why only shifters could leave the territory to the outside world. Twelve excruciating minutes later I could already sight the enormous grey house from afar. It was built directly at the center of the whole territory. I've always hated that house. It had this eerie feeling that always gave me the chills during my entire time there. I don't remember ever having a nightmare free sleep all the years I lived there which is why I suffered from insomnia all my childhood. In fact the first real peaceful rest I had in my entire life was the first time I visited my mom back at Santa Monica. We were almost out of the forest, just a few meters was left. Dylan's wolf had now slowed down a bit as our journey was coming to a stop. Then suddenly I was thrown off with so much force I rolled down the steep slope. I quickly lifted my arms to shielding my face as I rolled down twigs and stones that will most definitely bruise my back. My precious face was everything. I couldn't let it get a scratch no matter how small as it was one of the two body part that got me popular among the female population. My endless roll finally came to a stop. With a groan I tried to get up but then I felt something push me back to the ground. I looked up and there was Dylan standing in his human form in the clothes he had on before he shifted earlier. Dylan was one of the few shifters who trained to keep their clothes on whenever they shift. One of his feet was on my back pushing me to the ground. "It's such a nice view from up here. Don't you think." "Get your nasty foot off me if you don't wanna become foo. to one of the beasts in the cavern." "Tsk tsk ohh I don't think you should be threatening me now considering the position you are in." I tried getting up but the Dylan pushed harder I almost thought my spinal cord would break. "I'm gonna f*****g kill you." I said with gritted teeth. "You still don't know how to take jokes. Do you Cassius." And then he lifted his feet stretching an arm forward to help me up. I pushed his hand away and got up on my own before punching him hard in the face. "Owww. Is this your thank you?." "f*****g shut up." We walked down towards the mansion. No wolf was in sight everywhere was empty and quiet. In the past, before my father became Alpha. Wolfs were so carefree they would hangout and play around with laughter and joy. Now it's all gloomy with no happiness. Any wolf seen doing such now would be sentenced to decollation with their entire family. We got to the huge gates and I could see the look of surprise on a few wolf guards that recognized me. I mean it had been almost seven years since I last stepped in there. The ones who seemed to recognize me whispered to the others and in a flash they all bowed down to welcome me. Little did they know I was there to make peace. The gates were opened for both Dylan and I and then we walked the long distance to the main entrance if the house. I had almost forgotten just how vast the house was. My legs were starting to kill me from the annoyingly long distance and I would have ordered two of the guards to carry me but....where is the pride in that. We went for the elevators the minute we entered the building. My father's chamber was on the last floor, the 100th floor. The sicko had chosen that place to avoid being disturbed by everyone living lower and to probably feel above everyone like he was a god. I told Dylan to wait for me outside and without knocking, I pushed the large wooden door open. The entire room was dark. All windows were sealed with curtains preventing the bright sun from penetrating in. The room felt so cold and somber I wouldn't last for up to an hour staying in there. And then suddenly something ran into me and slammed my back against the cold hard brick wall by the neck. I felt a bone snap. It was mine. It was getting harder to breath with how tight my neck was being strangled. And then I met his red eyes, his alpha eyes. A look of recognition flicked through his eyes and then there was a mixture of hatred, surprise, anger......fear. His hold on my neck loosened a bit and I smirked. "Hello Father."
