"Mate," Ravenna heard from both her newly engaged husband and her best friend in their wedding day. No, this can't be happening." She thought as her father's words flooded her mind. " There is nothing stronger than a fated bond mates, and as for Damien, I am sure he will leave you the moment he finds her." He had told her that afternoon as she packed her bags to leave them for him. Ravenna! Ravenna!" Alpha Damien's sister screamed as she approached her, jarring her from the thoughts and fear that were enveloping her. You need to come, something is wrong. Your pack is in trouble." She shouted as tears fell down her eyes and without another glance, Ravenna sprinted off. She got into her immediately and just as Ava, Alpha Damien's sister had told her, they were in trouble not just any trouble but a huge one. She was welcomed with her father's head on a spike in front of their gate and her mother's naked body lying beside it. Ravenna Winters had everything anyone could dream of. As the daughter of one of the richest Alphas in history, life was laid out for her. But she tore away from her family when she fell for Damien, the youngest and most troublesome Alpha around. Her father tolerated them being friends or even flings, but when he found out they were in love and planning to marry, he lost it. His biggest issue? They weren’t fated mates—they had chosen each other, and he knew the dangers of defying fate, especially with Damien. He didn't want her to go through the same thing he went through with his wife because they were chosen and not fated mates but as fate would have it, she was born for it.

Fated Mates
Ravenna's hips swayed rhythmically against Alpha Damien’s lap, grinding against his bulge in sync with their favorite song blasting through the bar. The dim lights and thick haze of alcohol made their public display seem almost private—though everyone could see them, no one dared to look their way. "Get me a drink, pookie," he whispered, his teeth grazing her earlobe. She arched her back, pushing her ass harder against him, a sly grin curling her lips. She didn’t mind being all over him in public. They were that couple—the ones young people admired and older people judged. Rumors said their families were cursed, fated never to find their true mates. But as far as Ravenna was concerned, love was about choice, not fate. And as she always said during their wild nights, “Screw fated mates.” I’ll be back," Ravenna said with a wink, sliding off Damien’s lap and making her way to the bar. Her hips swayed with the confidence of someone who knew she had the whole room's attention. "Hey, handsome," she purred at the bartender, her eyes briefly scanning him before she added, "Can I get a Midnight Whisper cocktail? Oh, and throw in a splash of whiskey." The bartender, clearly preoccupied with whatever he was scribbling, didn't seem to notice her until she tapped the counter. When his eyes finally met hers, something unexpected happened. “Mate.” The word slipped out of both their mouths at the same time, their voices a whisper drowned by the booming music. And just like that, the lights in the bar flickered and then went out. The music cut off, leaving an awkward, stunned silence. Ravenna’s heart raced. This can't be happening. A bartender? She quickly covered the glow in her eyes before anyone could notice and melted into the crowd, her mind spinning. She couldn’t believe her fated mate was some random bartender, while Damien—the Alpha, her chosen mate—was out there ready to make her Luna. This is a joke, right? she thought, her eyes narrowing at the bartender, whose eyes were still glowing. How is this my life? Suddenly, a white spotlight beamed down in the center of the crowd, stealing everyone’s attention. The bar erupted into cheers as Damien stood there, looking dapper in a white suit that Ravenna hadn’t noticed earlier due to the dim lighting. He held a small guitar in his hands and hushed the crowd with a finger to his lips. The room fell silent as he strummed the first note of their favorite love song. Tears welled up in Ravenna's eyes, not just from the romance but from the confusion gnawing at her insides. She had a fated mate now—a bartender, of all things—and yet here was Damien, serenading her like she was the only woman in the world. She pushed the thoughts aside, determined to reject her fated mate later. Damien was the man she wanted, fated mates be damned. As Damien finished the song, Ravenna moved toward him, smiling. She was about to thank him when he suddenly dropped to one knee and pulled out a small box. The bar exploded into cheers again, everyone on their feet as Damien opened the box, revealing a sparkling diamond ring. Ravenna's breath caught in her throat, but before she could react, the cheering died down abruptly. Damien’s eyes were locked on something—or someone—behind her. "She's here," Damien's wolf leaped, almost making him lose his stance. "Our mate." Ravenna who had been closing her eyes waiting for him to insert the ring into her finger noticed that the cheering had reduced and forcefully opened her eyes. She traced the direction of his eyes and saw her, his mate. There, across the bar, was a stunning woman in a red floral gown that hugged every inch of her curves. Even in the dim lighting, her beauty was undeniable. Ravenna's stomach twisted. She didn’t need to see the woman's face to know exactly what was happening. Oh come on! How can his mate look like someone who just escaped the runway, screaming luxury and beauty while mine is just a bartender?” She thought feeling cheated. He won't take her, he won't break our promise?” She thought as she turned back at him and felt something cold in between her fingers. He had inserted the ring and the crowd had continued their cheering. Ravenna flaunted the ring for everyone who wanted to see. It was a diamond cataract ring, what every girl of her age would wish for. Despite her outward happiness, there was a pang in her chest, following what had happened while he wanted to give her the ring and to worsen it all, when she turned Damien was missing. No, this can't be happening.” She thought, remembering her father's warning. “ There is no happiness in having a chosen mate, when the fated mate comes, no matter what they must be together.” He had told her that day while she was leaving but she paid deaf ears to his words as she cut ties with him and moved in with Damien in his pack. Where did he go?” She asked Liam his Beta, whom she knew hated the guts out of her because of her unfinished one night stand with him. To see his mate.” He said mockingly, enjoying the look of pain on her face. It always made him happy whenever she was sad at least, she would know better than to leave a man turned on. No, that's not possible. He is just interested in her, if he is, he wouldn't have continued with the proposal.” She said, scanning the bar for the woman, she had seen walk-in and as she had dreaded too, the woman was not in the bar. Just as she was about freak out, Liam tapped her and pointed outside the garage with a smirk on his face. She left immediately and started walking outside the car, her heart beating loudly against her chest till a hand tapped her from behind. Mate," she heard herself whisper before covering her mouth immediately. Ravenna spun around, her breath catching in her throat. Standing before her was Alpha Damon, Damien’s twin brother. The rejected mute Alpha. The look in his eyes said everything—he was her second fated mate. “No. No, no, no,” she muttered, backing away as if that would undo what had just happened. She bolted, sprinting toward the garage, but as she rounded the corner, she saw something that stopped her dead in her tracks. Damien’s supposed mate was slipping into a car, and without a second glance, she sped off into the night. Before Ravenna could react, a strong hand wrapped around her mouth, pulling her into the shadows. She kicked and thrashed, but the grip was too strong. She started feeling dizzy and it wasn't long till she lost consciousness. Damien walked over to where Ravenna was pulled into with a big smile on his face. Nice one, guys.” He said as he patted the back of the man that made her unconscious. Well, we are going trash our other plan since my mate dropped by today. The new plan is that you have your way with her and do me the honors of taking pictures and videos. Make sure you get everything on camera, it's time to clear her off.” He said with a mischievous smile on his face. “ And don't forget to keep her where we normally do,” With a wink, they continued. What's with all the fuss of proposing if you had this in mind.” Liam asked as he scanned her body lustfully. Damien chuckled. "Gotta make it look like an accident. I’m a saint in everyone's eyes after tonight’s proposal. No one will ever suspect a thing.” I get it. We have to teach this spoiled brat lesson. So funny, how she must think that I have never touched her before…” Of course you have, just not with her consent.” Damien said, as he sent a text to someone and giggled at the response. Do it fast and arrange for the wedding tomorrow. My mate can't wait to have me in her arms ” He said and without any other words he left. Just as Damien left, Liam pulled away from Ravenna's body and the rest of the boys looked at him, shocked. I am tired of f*****g her, her p***y is now too wide, I think it would be best to taste his mate.” He said and with a smirk, he also left. Liam nodded, though his eyes lingered in Ravenna's unconscious body. “I am bored of her now anyways, might as well see what your mate's got.” Don't you dare, I don't want to see you anywhere around her,” Damien said angrily glaring at Liam. Liam scoffed. “ Oh, you gave her to us because she is not your mate and now you want to keep your mate? Nahh, it's not gonna work, Damien. If you try anything funny, everyone will know.” “We will see about that.” Damien said before leaving and Liam scoffed afterwards with a mischievous smile playing on his lips. I think the drugs are wearing off.” Ravenna heard as she woke up groggy, her vision blurred. Through the haze, she saw the bartender—her fated mate—standing there, blood covering his face. Did he come to save me? she wondered, just before she passed out again as someone pressed a cloth over her face.
