Chapter 4:
Helena followed behind Doyle. He hadn’t said a word since she told him the truth. The wonders of the land of immortals wore thin on her mind. If she’d never gotten involved with finding Missy, she would be home, oblivious to the world as she knew it now.
What good would that do? If Alexei and Ludmila were correct, the world would end in a few months, and all would be lost. If she had a role in stopping that or finding her parents and stopping that, she needed to be where she was now, no matter how painful it might be.
She wanted to curl up in a ball and cry, but she couldn’t, not now. Her friend, Doyle, was in pain and her… rival, Tsang Mei, might be trapped here or worse. They needed to find her and do what they could to save her. Even if it means giving up on your quest?
