Chapter 3 The appearance of the vampire at their cell took them by surprise. “How long has that been there?” Carter asked. Paul shrugged his shoulders. The beast looked in at the captives, its top lip curling in a snarl which revealed its long fangs. It raked its talons along the metal bars that comprised the small cell while its cold black eyes scoured the shadowy figures on the other side. Further down there was a scuffle. Carter noticed the corridor was thick with vampires and they were reaching into the cells and pulling men out, one by one. His blood ran cold. A sudden and overwhelming desire to vomit gripped him.
