Jefar’s POV
Tedros and I were sitting in my office when my phone rang. I checked the screen, and it was an unknown number.
“Hello.”
The person kept silent, but when I was about to hang up, he spoke. “Alpha King Adakna.”
I did not recognize the voice. “Who wants to know?” I clenched my jaws.
“So it’s true that you are rude. Unfortunately, I cannot reveal that information over the phone. If the hidden realm means anything to you, meet me at the restaurant, at the corner of the spicy stall, in 30 minutes.” He chuckled and hung up without giving me a chance to respond.
I glanced at the dark screen of my cell phone, thinking. This person is brave enough to call and invite me. “Tedros, I need us to go somewhere in 30 minutes, and no, I do not know who the caller was. I am just curious about what he said. So come, let’s go meet this mystery caller.” I told him while wearing my formal jacket and sliding my cell phone into the pocket.
We drove to the meeting place. It is a secluded place, but I took the necessary measures for this because it could be an ambush.
Walking into the oil-smelling restaurant, I narrowed my eyes, searching for a person who did not belong here, but there was none. I turned to Tedros in annoyance, “Let’s go back, I don’t have time for...” a medium height man cut me off. His muscular dark frame was hidden underneath a tan cloak.
“Alpha King Adakna, please let’s sit in the corner over there so we can talk without interference.” He whispered, then walked to the back seats.
My gut feeling told me to find out what the old man had to say. I followed him behind, alongside Tedros.
We took our seats, and he lowered his cloak.
I narrowed my eyes, studying his light brown iris, reminding me of my great grandfather with his lips pursed as if he was deep in thoughts and I realised now that I had never seen him before.
“Since you refused to tell me over the phone who you were, just get on with it. I am a busy man,” I told him in irritation.
“My name is Abasi Malak. I am the Alpha of Arimor's pack from the hidden realm of Egyptian wolves.” He replied with a smile.
I glared at him, not believing what my ears had caught. I did what anyone could do in such a situation. I burst into serious laughter. After having fun, I scowled at him.
“What makes you think I would believe you because those wolves went extinct many centuries ago?” I lied. My great grandfather told me that some survived, but no one knew where they were hiding.
“Well, I need your help. That place protected my people, and they have been living there for so long. However, I am tired of the limited resources we have. I want my people to live in this realm, and I believe your kingdom is the right place for them. The younger generation needs education, and they need to gain knowledge from the real realm to survive.” He took an exasperated breath.
I looked at him and all I could see was his desperation. “I can help you, but I will have to see the place you are talking about and your people, then we can negotiate terms. But I need to know… will you be willing to submit to me given that you know ancient ways and are physically and mentally older than me?” I enquired smugly.
“I just want to live a normal life like everyone else, and I also want the same for my people. Our realm has deprived them of many things for so long.” He averted his gaze.
“Okay, so where exactly is this realm?” I scratched my chin in a thinking way.
He explained to me where to find the place and also that there would be a few of his men waiting for us at the mouth of the cave. Well, one thing he did not know was, I am royal, and I do not need permission to do anything.
We agreed to meet by the end of the week when they have their shift as a pack. And that will also give me the knowledge of their kind.
“Oh! One more thing, once you get in the realm, you won’t be able to communicate with your wolf as you do out here, but you will easily shift into it.” He added as he hurried out of the restaurant.
Tedros and I went back to the palace.
“Do you believe him?” Tedros raised his brows in confusion.
“Yes, but we will see once I confirm if it's the place I think it is,” I answered, thinking about my great-grandpa. I entered my office in a gust of ideas concerning what happened earlier today. “Tedros, go call my parents. I need to talk to them,” I ordered, and he quickly left.
I took out my tablet and inserted the coordinates by viewing the layout beforehand, but to my disappointment, there was nothing. I will help him, but I would have to take his first daughter as my chosen mate if he has one.
There was a knock on the door. I sighed and yelled, “Come in.”
Tedros and my parents walked in and sat in front of me. He took a seat on the sofa and observed me.
“Mom, dad. How have you been?” I was grinning like a child who was about to get sweets. Normally, they know when something is up. I ask about their well-being.
Dad looked at me with his arms crossed over his chest. “We are fine, since we are in front of you. What do you want?” He asked nonchalantly.
“We taught you to speak your mind not to bite about the bushes,” Mom added in her jaded voice.
“Okay, can you two please take care of things while I am away? I need to go somewhere urgently.” I asked, while brushing my hair back with my fingers.
“Of course, son. You know we are available when you need our help. When are you leaving?” Dad is always the one jumping in, unlike my mother, who cares about her long nails.
“Tonight, I need to arrive at my destination before tomorrow afternoon,” I replied, simpering. I looked at Tedros; I guess by the look on his face, he never expected me to just leave this soon.
Once my parents walked out of the room, I turned my gaze to Tedros. “I guess you are curious why I decided to go so soon. I am very curious and impatient to wait for the day we agreed upon. Besides, a little surprise visit won’t hurt.” I waved him off.
“I know you are not a fair player sometimes, but what if we don’t find this place?” Tedros asked with care.
“Don’t worry, we will find it.” I winked at him.
“Let’s go prepare ourselves. Get 20 of our best warriors and tell Walid that we are leaving for Cairo tonight.” I told him as I walked out of the door.
We packed everything on time and met at the dining hall for a debriefing, since I did not know what to expect.
“Okay fellas, we are going to a magical place that doesn’t exist. I need all of you to be prepared for anything because I don’t know what to expect. But I assure you, it will be an adventure of a lifetime for all of us. Now let’s go.” I barked out.
At approximately 11:30 pm, we drove out of the palace and headed for my private runway. We boarded the plane, greeted my pilots and the flight attendant. I took my seat, so did everyone, and in minutes we were in the air.
It took three hours to get to our destination. As soon as we got there, I found my trusted people waiting for us in the trucks. We drove to the Iteru for approximately 2 hours to get to the outside of the place we were going to visit.
“We had better take a rest because it’s going to be a long day tomorrow. I need eight of you on guard duty. Scavengers in these parts of the world are very ruthless,” Tedros told the warriors.
The remaining went into the tents and we slept, looking forward to the unknown.
The sun had already drawn the horizon when we woke up. My men loaded everything into the trucks. It took us 45 minutes to get to the illusion cave.
As soon as we arrived, the trucks came to a stop. I grinned, rubbing my palms together in excitement. “You know Tedros, my great grandfather told me about this place when I was a pup, but I thought it was just one of those stories we were told as a bedtime story. But here we are.” I told him as we got out of the car and looked at our surroundings.
This place is magical, and I can feel the magnetic energy near us. What my men saw was an open field, but what I was seeing was the beauty of green grass on the edges of the dark cave.
I turned and looked at everyone. “I know you cannot see what I am seeing given to your facial expressions. Offload what we will need from the cars as we are walking from here. Oh! I can’t wait to see their faces when they see us.” I spoke with a wide grin.
Everything was unloaded, and we were ready to move.
“Okay, listen up; I am going to go through there." Pointing at the cave. "I know you cannot see what I am pointing at, but do not fret, just walk through and you will find Tedros and me waiting on the other side as Walid leads you through. Good luck. Oh, say goodbye to your wolves because you won't be hearing them once you go through.” I told them while disappearing with Tedros.
It looked like a cave, but it was not. It was the most beautiful place I have ever seen. There was green grass everywhere, trees were so enchanting; sparkling along the trail were yellow, pink, and purple flowers. F.uck, this realm is beautiful. Why would he want to leave? I thought to myself. Everyone came over after us with their eyes wide; they could not believe what they were seeing. I laughed and waved for them to follow us.
We appeared in front of a mud sun-dried brick double-story house, and on the far side, there were similar houses, but they were small. I believe they belonged to the other pack members. Then I saw alpha Abasi standing in his human form with different shades of brown wolves surrounding him and some were ready to pounce on us as if they would win against my men.
Next to him was the most beautiful young woman. I have seen many beautiful women, but her beauty was radiating from the sun's rays. My eyes moved back to Abasi, who did not seem happy to see my men and me, but I will deal with him when the time comes.
Immediately, a group of his pack members came into view and I quickly introduced my men and myself.
He led us to his office, which had a wooden table in the middle with three chairs surrounding it. There were two wooden sofas in the far left corner of the room.
We began our talk but failed to come to an understanding since my condition was something he never expected.
Later I felt hungry and went to the dining hall and ate. When I asked for coffee from Luna, I wanted to have a quick word with him because his behaviour agitated me, as if I had brought myself to his realm. But he realised his mistakes when I laid them out for him. Tedros came to take me to where I was to sleep.
The bed had a wooden headrest with soft linen bed covers and a nice wooden chest and wardrobe.
After Tedros left, I took off my clothes, took a nice long bath, and went to lie down on the bed facing the wooden ceiling, thinking.
He does not know who he invited to his realm and to his home. As soon as I get what I want, I am going to destroy this place like a sandstorm sweeping the desert. That is a promise I made to myself before I fell into a dreamless sleep.
