Chapter 2

1721 Words
Something isn't right. I can feel it in my bones. I have trained myself to be aware of my surroundings and I was most definitely being followed. I didn't find anyone after leaving the cottage but somehow I could tell that they were definitely around here somewhere. Think fast. Where is the safest spot to lose them? My eyes search the woods ferociously for a place to beat them at their own game. I couldn't remember the last time I've been followed. Whoever it was, they'd definitely come here for me. I had many enemies, specifically people I'd stolen from over the years. Which can be anyone right now. My eyes widen as something like a whip wraps around my ankle. An involuntary cry escapes my mouth as I'm suddenly pulled a few feet into the air. Everything happens so fast after that it takes a moment for me to realize what's going on. My hands are now tied behind my back and there are two men behind of me, the both of them grip my arms and start pulling me with them. "Let me go!" I shout while trying to break free of their strong hold. Neither men speak to me and it frightens me. They were too worked up to be normal men. Whoever sent them must have a lot of connections. "Who sent you?" I demand as I try to find some way to escape them. I wasn't like others who had people that would fight for them. I didn't have anyone that would realize that I was missing. There was no one that would look for me. If these people took me and it was someone that wanted me dead . . . That would be it for me. No one would come to my rescue. I was all that I had. "Listen to me." I whisper. "Whatever they're paying you, I will pay you double to just set me free." Again the men's expressions were like stone. Damn it. What was I going to do? Getting through to these stone like creatures was not going to help me. I struggle against them some more but it's already too late. They stop walking and I slowly turn to see whether or not they'd reached their destination. My eyes widen when I see the wall in front of me. It doesn't take long for my mind to recognize the amazing structure. It can't be. There's only one place with a wall like this one and it belonged to the home of the . . . Blackners. Suddenly I'm more frightened than before. These aren't just regular werewolves. These men hated their mates. God, these people were insane.   I needed to escape before they could carry me inside of there. What the hell would the Blackners want with someone like me? I didn't have anything to offer them. Was I stupid enough to steal from one of their men? I didn't think so. They usually had a signature tattoo in their chests; I can't remember ambushing anyone with a tattoo on their chest. I don't have time to react as one of the men wrap something around my waist. "Wai— I don't even get to finish my sentence as I'm being pulled over the wall by some kind of gadget.   The Blackners were known to always be manufacturing weird gadgets amongst other things. It was how they made a lot of money to create this massive structure out in the middle of nowhere. "I can carry myself!" I scream when one of the men throw me over their shoulder. Obviously, he still doesn't listen to me. I can see many eyes on me as they transport me throughout the place. Weirdly enough, there were only men here. So where did they keep the women? Were men and women kept separately? I don't know how long he's carrying me for but we eventually stop in front of a large black, glass door and after a few seconds the men are granted access into the gigantic room. If my hands weren't tied behind my back I would have surely punched both men. I look at them again; neither of them shows any emotion. I was beginning to think that they were robots. That wouldn't be surprising considering that I was now in the Blackners’ residence. I soon realize that they're looking at something to the front of them and I follow their gazes. The first thing I notice is an expensive white suit and then I'm faced with a cold glare. My gaze falls on the neck tattoo and I know who I’m looking at now. Gideon Blackner. I've never seen him before but I've heard of him, the description fit him perfectly. "It's nice to finally meet you Gabriella Sawyer." He greets me after taking in my features. I would have been creeped out if it didn't seem as though he was looking for something from me. What was he looking for? Did I steal any jewelry recently? I didn't think I'd done that. "What do you want from me?" I demand. "The last I checked, Blackners don't like outsiders in their home. So why am I here?" He smiles at me, a smile that does not meet his eyes. "It just happens that you have plenty to offer my family Gabriella. There is something that you can offer to us that no one else can . . . At least not much people can offer what it is I'm looking for." His words surprise me. What could I possibly offer that no one else could? "You're not making any sense!" I hiss. "There is nothing that I can offer you. I have nothing. I'm sure that you already know this since you already know my name when I’m positive I’ve never met you before." He takes a seat next and looks at some papers on his desk, it's like he's telling me that he's finished talking to me. "You'll see soon enough why I want you. In the meantime, my men will take you to your new room." My new room? Why the hell would I need a room? Clearly I was in a lot more trouble than I'd originally thought I was . . . . . . . . . . . . . .  ~ARTHUR~ "Did all of you already know this?" I demand from my brothers. I felt like I'd just been betrayed by every person that I knew. Ace looks at me but he doesn't answer. His bluish grey eyes flash with guilt but still he faces me, just like he always does. Tyson doesn't even look at me; instead he's looking out the window and ignoring my angry glare. Blaze looks at Ace like he usually does when he's wondering what to say next. He's waiting for Ace to lead; he doesn't want to say something that would make the situation worse. "Father did not want us to tell you." Ace finally answers. His jaw is tight and I can see just how hard it is for him to admit that he'd kept this truth from me. "If father had asked me to keep something like this from any of you— "You would have kept it from us." Ace says sharply. My jaw clenches but I don't disagree with his words. It was true. We'd all been grown up like this. We answered to our father first before anyone else. We were taught to respect him at all times. We always did everything he asked of us and that was not about to change anytime soon. We all stop talking when Nathan, my other brother walks in through the door with a grim look on his face. "She's here." Those two words are enough to make me stop talking. The woman that was about to bring problems into my life was finally here. "Father asked that you go see her now. He doesn't want any time to be wasted." I should be shocked by his words but I'm not, not even a little bit. My father was persistent when it came to anything that he wanted. He would not let me rest until the woman was pregnant. My men walk in next to inform me that they’d completed their mission. Something catches my attention then. There is a scent on the men that makes me weak; so weak that I have to grip the desk next to me for support. I pause and take a second to calm my wolf. He's pacing in me and he desperately wants to get free. He's sensing someone and it's the first time he's ever acted this way. My feet starts moving before I can stop it and I'm walking towards the scent that somehow has already managed to send all of my senses into a frenzy. "Arthur— I ignore my brother's call and continue to follow the only thing on my mind right now. It has my attention and nothing can break the hold that's on my body. It's like I'm under a spell and I have no control over myself. I know I’m close when I reach the room door . . . the room that she’s supposed to be in. I slam the door open and it makes a banging noise as it hits the wall. I don't hesitate as I make my way into the room. The scent is stronger here and it takes me a second to control my urges. I'm hungry. I want something . . . Or someone. I don’t know anything anymore. All I know is that I need to find the person behind the smell. And then I spot her. She has long black hair that shines as though it’s covered in oil and diamonds. Her knees are pressed up against her chest and she looks both scared and determined to break free. Her eyes are closed but the tension in her body lets me know that she knows of my presence . . . she’s just refusing to believe that I’m here. But why? My breathing is hard and my chest puffs up and down as I continue to stare at her. There is a need to take the woman in the corner of the room, a need so strong that I have to clench my fists and dig my shoes into the ground to keep from going to her. What is she? Why does my body react like this to her? And then it clicks . . . something that should have clicked a lot sooner than this. “Mine.” The word escapes my mouth before I have a chance to stop it. Mine? FUCK NO!
