Mila I shared one more smile with Lorraine as I stepped out the door. It closed, cutting off the sounds and smells of her house. The evening's chill seeped through my sweater. Still wet from the shower, I shivered. Oliver's soft eyes darted over to me. “Are you cold? I think I have a jacket in my Jeep." “Oh, I'll be fine. It's not that bad." “Are you sure?" He asked again, causing me to hesitate. Am I? What's the harm in letting him warm me up, anyway? “Well, okay, I guess I am a bit chilly." Oliver led me over to his Jeep and deposited Dottie in the back seat. She curled up into a ball and sighed, eyes falling shut. She looked so peaceful and cute, I wanted to melt. “You take such good care of her." He smiled in response. “I do my best. Here's that jacket I was talking about."
