CHAPTER 5

1035 Words
Panic welled all through Teresa's body, her eyes searched the whole room as she kept opening the wardrobe and cupboard just in case the little girl was hiding around. She moved close to the window as she noticed Rose sauntering towards the gate. She was already dressed in a pink gown and a flowery ribbon. Teresa couldn't afford to be sacked on the first day. She had been in charge of the little girl just a few minutes ago and now she was losing her sight. She ran downstairs as Ms. Clinton followed from behind. “Rose?” she called, moving to hug her tightly. “Where do you think you are going to?” she asked the girl who kept describing things with her hand. “She wants to go to the hospital to see her mother, ” Ms.Clinton explained, making Teresa clasped Rose's tiny hands into her huge ones. “I thought her mother was Late, Nanny?” Teresa asked Ms. Clinton. “Rose was together with her mother when the accident happened, the accident affected her, she thinks her mother isn't dead yet and she still expects her mother to come back to her every day, ” Ms. Clinton explained, fiddling with her wrinkled hands. “The doctor says she will heal but she needs all the love and care to come out of such trauma! Perhaps they mean she was shocked by the incident, ” Nanny explained more, making Teresa nod affirmatively. Teresa bent down to Rose's level. “Ice cream treat, let‘s get some ice cream,” she said, making the girl nod with a grin. ********************************** Hector rubbed his temple and ruffled his hair before groaning aloud. He had many files to sort out and a company meeting to attend but he wasn't focusing, he had been on his desk for hours. He looked at the family picture dropped on his table, they all had a smile plastered to their face. They all looked happy with a complete family but all that was shattered by death, death had taken the woman he loved and the mother of his lovely kids. His gaze flickered to the expensive watch wrapped around his wrist. 7hours to be exact, he stared at his Bestfriend who sat opposite him but all his attention wasn't on what he was saying, rather all his thought was wandering around that lady with dirty brown hair. What was she doing right now? Had she met Maria? Would she be okay taking care of Rose? He almost cursed out loud with frustration. Hector cared so much for his children and wouldn't want anything that would hurt them. That was the main reason he had sacked other maids and had refused to hire anyone not until his mother and his best friend here had made him change his mind. Even with much doubt about this new Maid he had nothing else to do, he had already hired her, and there was no going back on his words. How could he leave his children in the hands of someone he didn't know of her background? He was always doing a background check to be on the safer side. He knew Ms.Clinton was too old to protect herself or the children which made him curse out. “What is going on with you man? The company hasn't been doing so well since Susan died, you don't even look like you bother, ” Scott said, his hand waving Hector's face as he spoke. “Don't forget that this company didn't do anything that caused you any personal pain, this is business! Why don't you leave all personal things aside?” Hector smirks as he stares at his Best Friend. “I have money, I can just cover up any issue the company is facing, I have another company, hotel, speak to me about something else, ” Hector let out. He knew Scott was only trying to make him feel bad for neglecting work but with the problem and issues going on in the company it was something small that Scott could handle in a blink of an eye. Hector and his best friend had partnered their business together even with the long age gap their friendship was nearly perfect. Scott sat down dressed with a casual outfit, the one that didn't signify that he was coming to an office. “Who said I was doing this personally?” Hector asked as the door of his office plunged open showing his Secretary who dropped two cups of coffee before leaving. “Well, look at you! You look miserable, you should quit drinking and focus more on your daughters, ” Scott advised as he sipped from his coffee. “According to chemistry. Alcohol is a solution, ” Hector said, sipping from his coffee. “Alcohol won't solve your problem, Hector, ” Scott said, wiggling his head. Hector tried to defend himself but he was pinned to what to say. “Don't argue with me. You have to move on Hector, for you and for your daughters, ” Scott said, sipping from the coffee. “The meeting would commence soon, you need to strive, I know it isn't easy for you but Hector trust me when I say you need to act more like yourself, ” Scott said standing up from his seat but Hector stopped him. “My mom got a maid for the girls, she came in this morning, ” Hector said as a wide grin appeared on Scott's face. “That great news, at least some progress! Rose and Maria have someone to watch over them when you are here, ” Scott explained as Hector nodded in agreement. The sound of a phone bopping was heard as Scott looked at his phone. “I have a date with Lily, I wouldn't want to keep her waiting, I trust you with the board meeting! We would talk later, ” Scott said standing up from his seat. Hector stood up as they side hugged. “Tell Lily I said hi, ” Hector said, earning a nod from Scott. Scott walked out of the office as Hector plunged on his seat before breathing heavily.
