The instant the door closed Teresa couldn't help but let out a frustrated groan. The door swung open again making Teresa hitch her breath, she thought it was Hector but an old woman with white hair walked inside holding her Luggage with Rose gripping her hand. The woman kept panting to catch her breath, Teresa didn't blame her because the stairs in the house were the cause. She took a few moments before raising her hand to indicate that she needed water, Teresa was confused as to where the tap was or where the cup was as she kept scanning. After a lot of twists and turns, she finally brought her a cup of water. The old lady grabbed the cup of water before gulping it down her throat. She smiled at Teresa the moment she was okay. “Oh, dear, ” she mumbled as she held the old lady by the hand to help her sit on a chair. “Thank you, ” Ms. Clinton let out as she placed her hand on her wrinkled cheeks. “I’m sorry, I just got back from my hometown, and climbing those stairs was a lot of work, ” she said as Hector walked into the kitchen. “Welcome back Nanny, ” Hector said, hugging the old lady. “I have to get to the office, this is the new maid who is going to help around! Please show her around, ” he said, kissing his daughter on the forehead as she left a warm kiss on his cheeks. “Of course, Hector, ” she let out, touching her white hair. “Thank you, I would see you at night,” he said to Ms. Clinton as he glanced at Teresa, before walking out of the door. As Hector Hidalgo's footstep slinked. Her stomach was filled with fear and reality, she knew things wouldn't be easy. A week ago she never would have imagined that she would be right here standing in this mansion staring at Rose who hardly or barely talks. Then again things had been different and she was happy in the little room that was given to her by the old lady. Two pairs of eyes were watching her intently with flour all over her hair and face. She moved towards Her before cleaning the floor stain in her face, “why did you throw flour all over your face baby?” she asked as Rose stood mute without saying anything. Teresa didn't want to be hard on the little girl since she was passing through something huge. Dragging her eyes away from Rose, her eyes landed on the older woman who was setting up breakfast for Rose, her face was pale and tiredness was written all over her face. Trying not to sound rude she moved towards her, she had been arranging her stuff in her room, she hadn't gotten the chance to introduce herself to Ms. Clinton. She didn't know anything about Ms. Clinton neither did Ms. Clinton know anything about her. “Hi, I'm Teresa Conner, ” she said, making Ms. Clinton flash her a smile. Teresa noticed the weariness of Ms. Clinton as she held the wall for support. “I’m Nita,” she retorted as she held her head. “It's nice to meet you, you don't seem that well, ” Teresa let out. “I’m not as young as I used to be, just catching my breath for a few minutes would do love!” she said, making Teresa nod as she noticed the old lady Fanning her face with her hand. Teresa took to the kitchen to get the mess cleared out but was surprised that the old lady had cleaned the mess and the kitchen was a sparkle. The kitchen was the type she had always dreamed of but she didn't know she would one day see it in person, it was a very beautiful kitchen. “WHO ARE YOU?” A voice asked, making Teresa turn. She noticed a girl who was dressed in a high school uniform, the girl was beautiful and she had a striking resemblance to her father. “Maria, she is the new Maid who is to help around.” Ms. Clinton let out. “Hello?” Teresa mumbled as she waved her hand but Maria took her phone from the pocket of her blazer without saying anything. “Mr. Hector didn't say anything about him having an elder daughter or did the woman who had given her the job, ” she paused trying to process her words. “Yes, Hector wouldn't have mentioned it to you because he is most worried about Rose's condition, she was there when her mother died. Maria is also affected by her mother‘s death but Hector needs someone who can be there for Rose as always, ” Nita let out, making Teresa move to the sink to wash the dirty items Nita had used to cook. “Unfortunately I'm too old to keep up with the two girls and their father, the Last maid left because she couldn't put up with them, ” Nita finally let out. Teresa was intrigued by this little piece of information that Nita had told her. She knew it was none of her business but yet she couldn't stop her mouth from asking questions. “What happened to his wife?” She asked but Nita shook her head as she arranged some drinks in the fridge. “That better left unsaid. I would give you a little advice, Mr. Hidalgo loves his privacy and family above anything else, the last housekeeper didn't work well and I would advise you to be on his good side, ” Nita spilled out, making Teresa swallow the Lump that had foamed in her throat. “Let's forget about this, why don't you follow me so I can show you around. We have to sort things out before Hector gets back from the office. Mind you, he loves to see everywhere sparkling clean and set in order.” Nita said, making Teresa nod. “See you when I’m back Nanny, ” Maria said pecking Nita's head before walking away.
