CHAPTER ONE REED’S POV “Are f*****g kidding me?” I snapped the moment I walked into Dominic’s office, not caring I was intruding.   “Gentlemen, will you excuse me for a few minutes?” He nodded politely at the two men sitting before him. They nodded back, walking out Dominic following them.    I watched him lock the door before he made his way towards me,” Do you have any idea who those were?”   “I don’t care Dominic. Look, if this is your way of punishing me, can you please quit? I thought we were finally in a good place again,” I breathed out but his expression remained unperturbed as he resumed his seat.    “What happened?” He questioned, pacing his hnads on the table as he watched me with the same neutral expression.   “You hired a f*****g CMO for me,” I spat in rage and frustratingly enough, his expression did not change.   “Yes. Well, if you are going to succeed, then you need a good CMO and trust me, Scarlett is the top prize in this. If you hadn’t fired the last, let me see, fourteen CMO’s then maybe we would not be here,”   The last fourteen CMO’s. Well, I may have broken my own rule about not screwing my employees about…fourteen times and in the end I had to fire them because they thought they could climb their way up the ladder of success by sleeping with me. f**k! I really needed to have my grip with women.   “See, I did an evaluation on all of the CMO’s you hired before and they were all the same. They were beautiful, leggy, blonde, probably slept their way to get their degrees and so definitely dumb. Scarlett on the other hand, came highly recommended because she has worked with several top companies. For her internship, she worked with Victoria’s secret and then was picked by Calvin Klein right after. So not only has she got brains, but she will get you to the top like you’ve always wanted. You’ll thank me later, brother. Now if you may, I still have a meeting to get through,” he states dismissively.   “You know I can fire her, since that company is mine,” I stood my ground. There was no way I was putting up with that woman.   “How about we make a deal then? You tolerate her for a month and if by the end of those four weeks, you haven’t tried getting into her panties, I’ll cancel her contract with you, get her back to Calvin Klein and you can hire your own CMO,”   “That’s a deal I can make. After all, she is not even my type and so definitely, the last thing in my mind would be thinking about her panties,” I answered confidently. There was no way some nerdy grim looking woman like Scarlett could attract any man.   “Great. See you for family dinner on Sunday then,” Dominic said and I nodded before making my way out of his office.   I placed a call to Jade on my way back to my company. Her voice coming through barely a second after the first ring.   “What’s up Reed?” She questioned.   “You wanna hang out later? My work day is pretty shitty,”   “You know I’d never say no to a free drink. You called the guys already?” She questioned. Jade, Blake, Collins and I were a pretty closely knit group. With Jade working as a designer for my company line, I was even closer to her. Blake worked as a manager in a bank and Collins owned a very popular mall chain.   “Not yet but I will. Can you believe that Dominic hired a CMO for me?” I raged.   “Not really. I mean, you’ve f****d the last fourteen. It was high time someone did the hiring for you,” she chuckled lightly.   “Ugh! Don’t you ever stop being so annoying? Anyway, I’ll meet you later,” I cut off the call.   The past few years had been pretty hectic, especially how I had managed to convince everyone that I was over my brother’s wife but in reality all I did was f**k around to get it to sink in my head that she will never be mine. Maybe I had grown selfish when I choose to fall for Nicole but who would not when she was the full package? Beautiful, go-getter and surprisingly the first brunette I had ever gotten that immensely attracted to. Pushing Nicole to the back of my brain, I walked into the company, my gaze falling on Scarlett. Great way to make my mood go sour.   “Now that you’ve gotten your confirmation, I would like to get that coffee,” she said the first thing she reached me and decidedly enough, I did not like her; not even in the least.   “If we are going to work together, Miss Simpson,” I seethed, leaning in to whisper,” you better get your boundaries right. I’m the CEO, not you. So I dictate on what is to be done around here, not you,”   She pushed her glasses up her face, her expression neutral,” Then start acting like one Mr. Valiente,”
