Prologue
"O hail King Azarus!"
"Long live Queen Nidani"
The whole market place emerges with glories as King Azarus and his beloved Queen Nidani strolled through the surrounding area. One look at the people and you'll know how happy and pleased they are with the presence of their ruler. The black horse charged majestically through the lush green lawn caressing the sand. It's ornament stirking through the eye. King Azarus held up his hands, his mere presence behold power. A power to alleviate. A powerful aura that need not to be questioned and the Queen, she held the key to grace. She is a perfectionist. A beauty of the nation. She is the Queen of elegance.
A unbeknownst stillness fell within the surrounding, the wind getting steady with each passing time. The horse charged elegantly, the successor reciprocating it's action. King Azarus held up his hands mid air, his eyes scanning through the heap of people sending praises to him and his beloved. Joy overpower him at their mere presence. It shows his people are with him, supporting him and cheering him on.
King Azarus cleared out his throat and began speaking with strong aura lurking around him and his queen. "My heart is filled with joy and satisfaction as I stand before you my people..." He paused to take a look around his surroundings again.
"It's an honor for me to be able to stand before you my people. Your support and encouragement is what keeps the Azudra Village lively and also the best of the best. I hope my people will continue to offer it's support to the betterness of the Village"
Praises and chatters began formulating once again. King Azarus takes the gesture as a heads on. As the king and his queen embark on their way, the praises of the people kept echoing into their eardrums. The King felt a sense of power engulfing him. Indeed, he knows how to hold on to his people like the back of his palms.
The journey back to the palace was in silence. Nevertheless, the sound of the horses footsteps and that of the carriage didn't go unnoticed. Back in the carriage, Queen Nidani's eyes were fluttered shut as she rested her back on the wood plank. Her palm was rested on the big bump while the other was rested on her forehead. The sudden shifting of the carriage made her snapped her eyes open, lady Josselyn was quick to her aid.
"Are you okay? My Queen?" She asserted with much respect. Queen Nidani, held up her fingers in action. Still holding onto her bump, fearing not to hurt her baby.
"I'm fine. Can you open the window" Lady Josselyn hastily did as she was told then reverse back to her seat casting her head down on the accord. She dare not to look into the eyes of her queen.
Queen Nidani slowly shifted her body towards the window, peeking through the tall trees. A heavy, yet cool wind surge through the window. Queen Nidani omit out a sigh, enjoying the sensational wind. Her mind was long drifted that she hasn't noticed the gigantic mahogany gate of the palace. She slightly shifted her face when she heard her servant calling on to her.
"My queen, we have arrived" Came Josselyn almost shaky voice. Queen Nidani's eyes darted to the window for the last time then made her way out of the carriage with Josselyn supporting her. As she set foot on the lawn, an unknown pain penetrate through her abdomen immediately making her to grip her servant tightly. "My queen!" Josselyn's noise raised an alarm. In less than what could be labeled as five seconds, she was surrounded with servants and guards.
"My queen!" Lord Cassius, the right hand man to the king proclaimed. Distress laced on their faces. "Help the queen to her chambers and call the royal physician" King Azarus commanded. His breathing rising at the condition of his queen. The King knew it was time. The time to welcome the heir to the kingdom. The time all his sorrows will be lessened. The time for him to feel at peace.
For the queen's case, the pain she was experiencing at that moment couldn't be measured. All the commotions were ignorant to her ears. Unknowingly, she graps Josselyn's wrist tightly letting out a light hiss. Without wasting time, Queen Nidani was taken to her chambers with the royal physician at her aid. A cloth was admitted over her mouth immediately and the old woman began her work.
The pain Queen Nidani was feeling down her abdomen was unbearable. She let out a scream clutching her sides tightly for support. Fear crept into Lady josselyn heart seeing her queen in that condition. It's not like she has never seen a woman giving birth. However, the pain the Queen was experiencing was too intense.
The whole room pick up with wailings of the Queen. Her voice echoing all over the chambers. The queen couldn't bear the pain. It was as if, her abdomen has been splited open. The royal physician requested lady josselyn to bring over more lukewarm water that will help in soothing the queen.
The royal physician watched as lady josselyn made her way out before turning back the Queen.
“My Queen, there's a problem”
Even in her state, the queen was able to speak up which came out as a shout. “What problem?”
“I’m afraid to annouced that you're giving birth to a girl which-” She didn't get to complete her statement when she felt a tight hold on her arm.
“How dare you say that in front of me. I'm giving birth to a boy. The heir to this kingdom. You said it yourself. Don't you dare challenge the royal family or you will be sent to the dungeon” With shaky hands, the royal physician got back to her work. Maybe if the queen give birth, she will see for herself.
“My Queen, you need to push harder. I'm seeing the baby's head” Queen Nidani wasn't able to find the strength in her to push. The pain she was feeling was unbearable. She prayed for her baby's safety.
“My Queen, you need to push harder. Push for the last time” The royal physician profound. Queen Nidani clutched the headrests that were secured by her side in a tight grip. Gathering the remaining strength in her, she pushed harder, a painful scream leaving her mouth. And that's the end of her strength.
The room took its pace with the baby’s cry. “Congratulations my Queen. The kingdom is blessed with a princess”
Queen Nidani’s breathing hitched as the words left the physician’s mouth. Maybe she heard wrong. It was supposed to be a prince. The heir to the Azura Kingdom. At that moment, Lady Josselyn rushed in with the bowl of lukewarm water she was requested to bring.
She fell flushed on her knees. “Congratulations my Queen” She cried out of joy. The Queen couldn't believe her ears. Her eyes slowly shifted to Josselyn who held the baby in her arm, a smile playing at her lips. Her eyes landed on the baby, who fell asleep almost immediately. Bile rose in her throat. With the weak position she was in, she couldn't lift a finger or bring herself to utter a word.
She was supposed to be overjoyed by the news, however, it was the other way round. Bitterness is what she felt at the pit of her stomach. The door was suddenly banged open. King Azarus walked in, the expression on his face doesn't show any slight of joy in them instead, anger graced on his face.
“My King, con-” Lady Josselyn didn't get to complete her statement when the King held up his hand. She knew not utter anything. Not in the presence of the ruler.
“I want this baby to be taken out of this palace with immediate effect” Came his powerful and emotionless voice.
Queen Nidani was quick in jolting up. The pain and weakness she felt some hours ago, long forgotten. “My King, I-” She managed to blow out. However, the voice the King used dispersed the living soul out of her.
“Excuse us” In less than what could be labeled as two seconds, the royal physician and Lady josselyn were out of the room.
As soon as they were left alone, the King started “This baby will be out of this palace immediately. Far away from this kingdom”
Queen Nidani tried to composed herself, yet, she knew that isn't coming anytime soon. Not when her baby is about to be taken from her. “My King, I just give birth to the heir of this kingdom. Aren't you supposed to be happy” She voiced out.
King Azura omit out an angry chuckle stepping forward to the Queen. “Happy? As long as this child stays alive, happiness will never come to this kingdom. She's a bad omen to this kingdom. I have to get rid of her as soon as possible”
Queen Nidani’s head spun in dizziness. She grabbed the nearest sideboard to steady herself from falling. The King’s words echo all over her head. He's trying to take away her child. Maybe the King is joking. He can't do that to his child. He can't kill his own daughter just because of a mere Shaman’s talk. She searched his face for any slight of joke, yet, she found none.
“I want a Prince not a Princess” The voice in which the King used, sent shivers down her spine. She held her head with her two hands. A sharp pain striking through her head. And just like that, she wobbles back and fell on her knees falling into a complete blackout. Darkness.
