Chapter 5

DEMI I hate clowns. I hate horror films just as much. Why would he choose this film? I leaned into him, but every time Pennywise came on, I had to hide into his chest. Fuck, this was so embarrassing. I could feel Kaleb’s hand tighten my shoulder and press me against him. His scent was calming, but the heat from him made me want to jump his bones. Fuck. Damn, mate bond. I could feel Lia’s amusement in my head as she moved slightly closer. “He chose this film to have you like this,” she murmured, “he is hot as hell.” I groaned. I wanted to take it slow, but this was not helping me. I heard a scream from the TV, which made my eyes close instantly, and I gripped Kaleb tighter. His head goes to mine, and he kisses the top. “I told you I got you,” he murmured. Fucking ass. I moved slightly but didn’t look at the TV but toward him. His eyes were on the TV, but he looked back when he realized I was looking at him. “You did this on purpose,” I muttered. Kaleb smirked. “Ass,” I murmured and moved back slightly, but Kaleb’s hand on my shoulder tightened. “I wanted to have you close,” he said, “I didn’t realize that you were still scared of horror films.” “It’s your fault I am,” I blurt out, but moved my hand to my mouth to stop myself from telling him anymore. Kaleb looked at me, confused. “What do you mean?” he asked. I shook my head and held my hand over my mouth. Kaleb moved and pulled my hand away from my mouth; he stared at me. “Tell me,” he said. I stared at him and sighed. “That Halloween night,” I muttered, “the night you scared me.” Kaleb looked at me, and realization set in. He gave me a slight nod but didn’t say anything. “Well, jackass, I was supposed to do something with my Dad, and he wanted to watch one of his films,” I said, shuddering at what had happened. “He chose one of his films, and I agreed, even though I hated it.” I pulled back slightly, letting his hand drop on my leg. Tingles erupt through me, but I ignore the feeling. I stare at him. “My Dad had a mind link to go and check out the border patrols,” I said; Kaleb’s eyes stayed on me as I continued. “While he was gone, you did that stupid prank by ringing me and not saying a word; I was alone in the house—the knocking on the door, the lights going out. I had a panic attack. I was scared out of my mind.” Kaleb stared at me. “I didn’t do…” he starts to say, but frowns. His eyes glazed over but came back after a few moments. Kaleb moved toward me, which made me jump slightly. He places a hand on my face as he stares at me. “I didn’t do that,” he murmured, “Well, the phone calls I made, but not the other things. I would never do anything that makes you panic.” I stared at him, searching his eyes. A flicker of his wolf’s eyes came and went. I could feel Lia move and come closer; she stared at him, trying to figure out whether he was telling me the truth. “What do you mean you didn’t do the rest?” I said with a slight frown. Kaleb stared at me and sighed. “I made those calls but nothing else,” he murmured, moving his thumb back to soothe my chin, “I would never have done any of those things to you.” I stared at him, confused. “Then who?” I asked. Kaleb stared at me, trying to work out who. His eyes flickered at me, and he sighed. “I know who,” he said, moving slightly closer, his eyes burning more as they bore into mine. “Emma,” he murmured. I frowned. “Why would Emma do…” I asked, but Kaleb stared at me, and the realization set in. “She was with you at the time,” I murmured, slightly hurt. Kaleb shuddered at the mere mention of Emma but gave me a slight nod. I bit my bottom lip, “But why?” I asked. Kaleb moved closer, not leaving much room between us; his breath fanned my face as he spoke, “There was no denying that I liked you back then,” he whispered, “I told all the boys, but it showed in how I acted with you. I never paid Emma attention, not even a kiss in front of people. I hated that kind of thing, but it was mainly to do with her.” I stared at him, biting harder on my bottom lip. Kaleb moved his hand from my chin and shook his head. “Stop biting that lip,” he murmured, “or I will have to kiss you.” I didn’t say anything. I wanted him to kiss me. The whole mate bond was affecting me in ways I never thought possible. Kaleb moved slightly, “I told you…” he murmured, but I couldn’t take it anymore; I moved and crashed my lips on his, taking him by surprise. I kissed Kaleb. I pulled back as realization set in and looked back at him. Lia was howling in my head. Another scream could be heard from the TV, but neither of us moved. Eyes glued to one another. Kaleb licked his lips as his eyes flickered from his wolves but back to his. Lia was close. “Mate wants to pounce on you,” she murmured with slight humor. I looked back at her and frowned. “How…” I didn’t have a chance to start the question as Kaleb moved and crashed his lips on mine, bringing me back from talking to Lia, who was laughing in my head as my eyes widened. I looked at Kaleb, who had his eyes closed as his tongue glided over my bottom, and I gave him access as his tongue slid into my mouth; his tongue fought with mine, but the kiss deepened more as I kissed back more, and I let the kiss take over me. I could feel hands on my waist, and Kaleb moved me to straddle him. I place my legs on either side of his and deepen the kiss, causing him to groan. I pull back, panting hard. “f**k,” he murmured, looking back at me. “Dem,” he said. “I didn’t mean to… I wanted…” I placed my finger on his lips, stopping him from talking. “Don’t,” I said as I smiled at him. “I wanted to kiss you more,” I said. Kaleb stared as a slow grin came across his face. His hands were drawing circles on my hips as we stayed like that. Music erupts around us, letting us know the film had finished. “Well, at least the film is over,” I muttered, causing him to chuckle. “You really don’t like clowns,” he asked. I frowned, causing him to laugh and move; his hand went to my neck, pushed me closer to his lips, and kissed me. I didn’t even put up a fight. I liked kissing him. I can feel his hand roaming into my hair, keeping me on his lips while his other hand grips tight. Kaleb pulls back slightly, his lips hovering over mine as he smiles. “I could get used to this,” he whispered. I could get used to this too. I stared but let a smile itch the corners of my mouth. “What shall we do now?” I asked. My dirty mind was taking over, mating him in my bed. Lia was all in, but his eyes went blank when I stared at Kaleb. He wasn’t thinking what I was thinking then. I moved back, but his grip tightened. “Demi, I think we should…” he started to say, but I shook my head. We were moving fast; I knew it. “It’s okay,” I whispered, moving up from his lap. Kaleb looked at me, confused. “I’m going to bed,” I said, glancing toward the window. It was dark outside. “It’s getting late,” I said, moving away and heading toward the stairs. I heard Kaleb move; his eyes were on me. “DEMI,” he called out, but I ignored him. How stupid could I be? I ran up the stairs, but I could hear footsteps following me. I ran into my room, slamming the door behind me. I move into the room, only for my bedroom door to burst open. I spun around and stared wide-eyed at Kaleb, who looked pissed. Fuck.
