CHAPTER 7 - His Fiancée

1261 Words
“Good, at least you know the right thing to do. Now go, and I want to have that coffee now,” the Chairman said arrogantly, making Aloida almost frown in front of him. “Yes, Sir,” she said after bowing as if bowing to a king. She walked out of the Chairman’s office with her face like a crumpled sheet of paper. Mentally, she called the Chairman an ashole. “Wait. Re-type this document and make sure to finish it before you go home today.” He handed her a folder, which she accepted without any question. “Will do, Sir. I will brew your coffee now,” she replied, to which he just simply nodded and motioned for her to go. She walked out of the office and went to their office’s pantry. She brewed coffee in the pantry with a still indignant feeling. However, she could still not stop herself from hoping that the Chairman was indeed Alexus, and might just be pretending to be his way of taking revenge against her. She brought the newly brewed coffee to the Chairman’s office. After knocking three times, and no one answered, she opened the door and got inside the office. No one was sitting in the Chairman’s executive chair, and she wondered where the man was. She looked around the office, but she did not see him. Hence, she decided to just leave the cup of coffee on his executive desk. As she turned her back to leave, she almost screamed when she saw him in front of her already. “You look like you have seen a ghost. You are so clumsy, Ms. Jeansen,” he said, chuckling. He walked to his desk and there he sat like a king while looking at her with a raised eyebrow. “What, Ms. Jeansen? Do you need something? Do you want to say something? If none, you can go out now,” he said to her, as if merely driving away a cat. “None, Sir. I was about to go out when you came,” Aloida mentally rolled her eyes before walking out of the office with a sour face. She tried to relax herself as she settled on her chair and started to type the document that had been assigned to her by her boss. The document was a ten-page project proposal in a PDF format. She wondered why she had to re-type it. “Did he not keep the MS Word form of this, or did he just want to make me tired of typing?” she thought, frowning again. Nonetheless, she can do nothing but follow her boss. She still had around three hours to finish the task before the clock would tick for the staff to leave the office. Just more than an hour, and she was able to finish typing the ten-page document and even checked if she missed something or if there might be typographical errors. After making sure that everything was fine, she e-mailed the document to her boss. Before returning the hard copy of the typed document to her boss, she went to the lady’s room first and retouched her light makeup and lipstick. When she returned to her desk, she was surprised to see a tall, slender woman entering the door of the Chairman’s office. She could not yet see the woman's face since she was facing the door. In a panic, she immediately rushed beside the woman to interfere. The Chairman’s number one rule was to never allow anyone to enter his office without an appointment and prior notice. “Ahmm, Miss, I am sorry, but may I know first if you have an appointment with our Chairman? I am Aloida, his Executive Assistant by the way,” she said as she gently tapped the shoulder of the woman. Surprised, the woman looked at Aloida with an irritated expression. “You seemed to be just new here. I don’t need an appointment to see your Chairman. I am his fiancée,” the woman said, which made Aloida stiffen. “I am sorry, but I still need to know your name please,” Aloida insisted, as she tried to compose herself. Knowing that her boss, who she guessed to be Alexus, had a fiancée already, made her heart suddenly ache so badly. The woman looked at Aloida with a raised eyebrow this time. “I am Amara, what else do you want to know? Do you want to know from what family I come from? Well, let me satisfy your curiosity. I am the heiress of Jaguar Brygen, the billionaire steeling magnate in the country. I presume you know how many companies we have, right?” Shaken by what she heard, Aloida batted her eyes and then cleared her throat. “I am just following the rules given by my boss, Ms. Brygen. It does not matter if the visitor is a heiress or a pauper. I need to do my job,” she thereafter replied with firmness in her voice. “Ow, really? Don’t worry, I will tell my fiancé to increase your salary for being like a dog to her master.” Amara Brygen then immediately opened the door of the Chairman’s room and closed the door, almost hitting Aloida’s face. ... As she sat at her desk, Aloida reached for her local phone and dialed the number of her boss, but her calls were left unanswered. Frustrated, she put down the phone and focused on taking down all the requested meetings of some clients to the Chairman. She will discuss them with her boss, before she goes home today. Just a few minutes after Amara entered the Chairman’s office, Aloida saw her walking out of the door, with a salty expression. Amara’s face looked like that of a tiger, ready to assault Aloida when she looked at her. Aloida did not lower her eyes, instead, she made eye-to-eye contact with Amara. She does not want to let this woman bully her even if she is the fiancée of the Chairman. Amara did not take any violent action against Aloida, to the latter's relief. Anyhow, Aloida believed she did nothing wrong to deserve any violent reaction from the woman. Whatever the reason for Amara's madness, Aloida believed that it was probably not because of her. Aloida took a deep breath while glancing at the door of her boss. She was about to stand up to bring the hard copies of the documents she typed when her landline phone rang. "Come here," the Chairman's voice filled Aloida's ear before she could even say hello over the phone. "Right away, Sir," she said. She immediately rushed toward the Chairman's office after he cut off the call. "Take this card and buy a nice party dress. You will accompany me tomorrow to the sixtieth birthday party of the Chairman of Magnanimous Real Estate Corporation," he said as he handed a debit card to Aloida. She looked at the card and then shook her head. "I have some party dresses in my closet, and enough money to buy one, just in case those dresses might not be suited for the occasion." She did not get the card. After that, she put down the documents on the table. "I have finished typing this document, Sir, and I already sent it to your e-mail.' "Good. But, take this card, and that is an order. If you defy me on simple matters like this, then there is no room for you in my company!"
