Hearing what the HR Manager had just said, Aloida’s heart tumped so wild, and fell silent while merely looking at the woman. Suddenly, she felt such an excitement that enclosed her whole senses. She thought that God might have listened to her prayers and was now leading her on the way to finding out about the real identity of the Chairman of the Black Hotels. Her interest, therefore, in being hired as his new Executive Assistant resounded in every pore of her being.
“Yes, Ms. Jeansen? Is there something that you wanted to ask more?” It was the inquiring voice of the HR Manager that broke the deep thought of Aloida.
The HR Manager’s facial expression seemed to be in wonder while looking at Aloida.
“Oh, nothing more, Madam, my apology. I will go ahead now. Thank you,” Aloida responded abruptly, although she still had a stunned expression.
After giving her a nod, the HR Manager thereafter motioned for her to go ahead. Aloida, sheepishly smiled and then, with a hurried act, walked out of the interview room, followed by the HR personnel of the Black Hotels Corporation.
As she walked out of the building of the Black Hotels Corporation’s main office, Aloida could not help to stop and look at the front door of the building. She imagined herself getting in and out of that door from Monday to Friday or even every day. She imagined herself walking in and out of that door with Lexandro Montaro, who looked like his missing Alexus, the love of her life since then and until now.
“Hello, Miss, are you going to get inside my cab or will you just stay there looking at that building?” It was the irritated voice of the cab driver who had spoken that astounded Aloida and brought her back to reality. She immediately got inside the cab and informed the driver where she was going in a serious tone. She did not like the way he talked to her.
Not until they reached her home, did Aloida speak to the cab driver again. She noticed that he would look at her from his front view mirror most of the time during their travel but she dared not give him any attention. The man was so impertinent.
After giving him her fare, Aloida alighted from the cab without even glancing back at the cab driver, while the cab driver took his mobile phone and took a picture of her as she entered the gate of her house.
Aloida entered their home with a frown on her face, still somewhat pissed off with the cab driver. She regretted commuting rather than driving her car when he went to the Black Hotel’s office for her interview. She just thought that bringing her car would be an additional burden for her, especially if she would not be allowed to park inside the building. She still did not have much time to look for a parking lot.
She went directly to her bedroom and after changing her clothes, she went to the kitchen to have something to eat. She would just get a sandwich and juice. Anyway, her daughter will not be home until five o’clock in the afternoon, since her classes at school end at four o’clock in the afternoon. She will take their school bus to go back to their home from school.
While eating the egg and cheese sandwich that she prepared, Aloida could not help to remember about Alexus.
“Alexus, why do you look so similar to the Chairman of the Black Hotels? Where are you, Alexus? Are you still alive?” Aloida thought while chewing her sandwich.
...
Inside his office, Lexandro Montaro was looking at the photos sent to him by one of his men. His expression was unfathomable.
“The son-of-a-gun was so happy with his new wife, haha. This will just be the start of the game,” he murmured. This time, a devilish grin lined up on his lips. He threw the photos inside his desk cabinet and then reached for his phone on top of his executive table. He typed a message and then sent it to the recipient with the devilish grin still lingering on his face.
As he put down his mobile phone on his desk again, he heard a knock on his office door.
“Come in,” he said in his baritone voice. He had a hint as to who would be his visitor.
“Sir, good afternoon.”
He nodded at the woman. “Come in, Ms. Delmas. Any good news?” he asked in a serious voice. His usual tone to his employees. “Have a seat,” he added.
Ms. Delmas, the Human Resources Manager of Black Hotels, sat down on the chair. “Yes, Sir. We have two applicants for the Executive Assistant position for final interview.” She then handed him a brown folder containing the resumes and initial interview assessments of the applicants.
He accepted the brown envelope and then got the documents inside. He read the first resume and then put it down on his table. As he read the second resume, his forehead suddenly furrowed. He read the name again and then looked at the HR Manager with a smirk on his lips.
“Tell her to come tomorrow for my final interview,” he said, handing to the HR Manager the resume that he was holding.
“Ohh, it is Ms. Aloida Jeansen. The ex-wife of one of our main competitors.” The HR Manager said with no surprise at all. If she would choose someone to be hired as an Executive Assistant to the Chairman, she herself would choose the ex-wife of their number one competitor.
He smiled mysteriously and said, “Yes. Ms. Jeansen. I want her.”
"Very well, Sir. I will call her then." The HR Manager bowed her head before she exited the office of the CEO.
"Aloida Jeansen, welcome to the wolf's lair!" he murmured, with his eyes squinting and darkening with disgust.
