CHAPTER 2- Scenes Of The Past

1208 Words
The scenes of the past flooded Aloida’s mind. She was with Alexus at that time. They were walking hand in hand following the path leading to Aloida’s home. The moon was shy as it was hiding in the foggy clouds, but they were not aware of it. All they were aware of was the thought of their forthcoming wedding . . . just two days away. As they were walking hand in hand, three armed men from nowhere appeared. Like a flash of lightning, Alexus’ head has been hit by the gun’s handle of one of the men. Milliseconds and she heard the sound of two gunshots. Her grieving scream echoed all over the night when she saw Alexus lying on the ground, wounded and dying. Thereafter, those unknown men punched her stomach, which caused her to faint. What happened next was already beyond her knowledge. Aloida woke up not even remembering how many minutes or hours she had been sleeping or unconscious. She woke up under the unfathomable look of two haunting eyes. She automatically stood up, but she was so shocked to discover that her body was already naked. She was like a newborn baby in her complete nudity. She quivered as she realized the implications of her condition. “Señor Agustus, what did you do to me? Why did you do this?!” Aloida’s voice was shaking as her tears spluttered like rivulets. Her body, which she intended to be taken only by Alexus was now being violated by this nasty man. How could she face Alexus now? Her heart was torn, more than her body. “Get up, we will be married by this afternoon,” answered Señor Agustus with a voice of so much authority. His expression was even unfathomable. “How dare you! You are a bastard!” she yelled at him. Her anger was overwhelming her whole being. “I will not marry you Agustus!” “After what happened, I doubt it,” answered Agustus with sarcasm. A mocking grin lined up on his lips. His devilish smile angered Aloida more. “You are a monster! You can’t have me because I love Alexus, and I’ll marry no one except Alexus! You were not the one who got me first, it was Alexus! Are you not going to be pissed off always every time the truth would slap your face that it was Alexus who took my body first before you had me?” Aloida shouted mockingly and almost hysterically. “Shut up, Aloida, your beloved Alexus is nowhere to be found, and if I see him again walking in the city, I swear, I will kill him,” Agustus’ eyes were dancing in amusement and triumph as he watched Aloida’s face shining with hatred. Agustus left the room after looking at Aloida with an arrogant smile. He tried to buy Aloida before by offering her a million, but she refused. She even returned every gift that he sent her. He could not take such a rejection. No one had ever rejected him. He is Señor Agustus! Aloida could do nothing to stop the wedding. She waited for Alexus to save her, but even Alexus’s shadow never appeared to rescue her. Alexus was gone. Aloida grieved for her misfortune. He lost Alexus, and she was married to a man like Agustus . . . evil Agustus! Aloida felt like dying as she signed the contract that would bind her to a man she never loved and a marriage she never dreamed of. For three years, Aloida heard nothing about Alexus. One day, while she was walking alone at Agustus’s Hacienda, a boy approached her and gave her a piece of paper. Aloida’s heart tumbled. That night Aloida became restless. She waited for Agustus to sleep, and then she walked briskly through the forest where no one ever dared to go. It was the instructions written on that piece of paper. This forest was famous and, for so long, people believed that it was inhabited by hundreds of wolves. This forest was haunted and according to myth, no one, even the boldest, had ever tried to enter. That night was the night after three years when she saw Alexus again. That night was the start of their rekindled love and secret affair. Until Aloida agreed to Alexus’ pleading for her to leave Señor Agustus and live with him forever. ... The long-awaited night for Aloida came. This is her last night with Agustus! Her last night at Agustus’s mansion, which four walls thereof served as her prison cell and made her endure for a long time. Her last night’s sorrow with Agustus! Her night of sweet surrender to a long happy life with Alexus. Her last night with her daughter Aaly . . . She suddenly stiffened as she remembered her daughter with Agustus. Aloida’s heart was shattered by such a realization. She hurriedly walked to her daughter’s room. Tears were running down her cheeks as she watched her daughter’s innocent and placid face while sleeping. Aloida cannot control her feelings. She hugged her daughter so tightly. Aalyna was then awakened. “Why Mommy?” asked the child in a confused voice. Aloida’s strength slowly melted as she looked into her daughter’s innocent eyes. She had mixed emotions. She loves Alexus. She wants to be with Alexus. Most of all, she hated Agustus all her life. But, as she looked again into her daughter’s confused eyes, and as she felt the fragile frame succumb onto her bosom, Aloida’s heart suddenly broke down. How could she hurt her daughter? How will she live in peace with Alexus if she will be haunted by her daughter’s innocence? She thought wearily. As Aloida walked her way to the forest that night, she tried to bear the pain she was carrying and suffering. She would try to be happy once more for one night with Alexus. Just once more… Alexus was already waiting for her at the waterfalls. They savored the coldness of the night while they walked to the cave; the home of Alexus. And then again, Aloida permitted herself to relish happiness while within the warm embraces of Alexus. She let her senses be soothed by the manly scent of him and let that scent be imprinted in the deepest part of her soul, never to be forgotten until such time, which she could never tell when. The twilight was coming; Aloida was awakened by the embrace of Alexus’ arms. She hurriedly stood up and looked for her belongings. “I need to go, Alexus,” Aloida’s voice was breaking down. Alexus felt surprised. “But . . . I thought we would be together starting last night?” his voice was with tremor. “I’m sorry Alexus, I do love you and I wanted to be with you, but…” “No buts Aloida. I love you and I need you. I will bring you to my world and will let you live a happy life,” Alexus’s voice was in a pleading tone already. Aloida faced Alexus and cupped his chin. How could she be able to leave him, if all she could feel right now was her love for him?
