Kimberly "It's the Blood Lord." Clarabelle's response sent me to a state of shock, but I was quick to recover. She cracks heavy jokes. I mean there's no way my parents would agree to send me off to a monster like the Blood Lord. No matter the situation, they would never do that to me. "Oh, do not mind that my dear," Mr. Simpson waved his hand in dismissal. "Blood Lord is just a name devised by the ignorant people. My master's name is Kendrick Crowley. Alpha of Crimson moon pack. The alpha of all Alphas." I looked towards my parents hoping to hear them speak. I wanted so badly to hear them say that it was a lie, but they were busy staring at their feet. "No," I muttered as tears welled up in my eyes. "That can't be true." "Tell her," Mr. Simpson urged, more like an order. Father cleared his throat and took a step closer to me. "Honey, it's true," he whispered. "You're getting married to Lord Kendrick Crowley." My jaw dropped and my feet lost its balance. How could they? How could they do that to me? Everyone knew who the Blood Lord was. So why would my parents want me to spend the rest of my life with such a man? I fell on the floor and they all rushed towards me. "Kim!" my father supported my back while my mother took both my hands. Clarabelle knelt beside me and placed her hand on my shoulder. "Are you okay, honey?" My parents asked in unison. I'm not okay! I wanted to scream in their faces but I chose silence. I needed time to understand what was happening, and how my birthday which was supposed to be my happiest day turned out to be the saddest day of my life. Father lifted me up on my feet while mother supported me on the other other side as they both helped me to my room. Clarabelle trudged after, leaving Mr. Simpson alone in the living room. "I know you are disappointed in us," Father began as he settled me on the bed. "But trust me, my dear, I wouldn't do this if I had another choice." I listened attentively at his supposed explanation. I would really like to know why he chose to send me to the land of no return. I mean, if he is known as the Blood Lord and I am married to him then I'll just be another dessert in his food. No parent in their right mind would chose such a life for their child. "Yes honey, your father only wanted to save the empire and the pack, he didn't know that Alpha Kendrick would ask to marry you in exchange for his help." Mother added. To save the empire. To save the pack. Those words kept ringing in my ears. Why do I have to be the sacrificial lamb? Why did it have to be me? Couldn't he have asked for something else? "I didn't know he'd ask to marry you, my dear. I wouldn't go ahead with the deal if I knew." Father was trying to stay strong, but I could see his unshed tears. I could feel his pain. That monster! He played on my father's desperation. Of all the people that my father could run to for help, why did he choose the Blood Lord? Why did he become so desperate that he had to fall prey to the Blood Lord's schemes? Why? I screamed in my head. "Is he that terrible?" Zara asked in my head. Oh, I wish I had words to describe how terrible this man is. Even though I haven't met him in person, I've heard news of his ruthlessness and bloodlust. "What do we do now?" She asked again. I knew my wolf was ready for a fight, and judging from how brawny Mr. Simpson looks, I'm sure Zara can take him without putting any effort. Yes, that's how strong my wolf is. Even though I choose to keep our strength a secret, my family knew how strong she is and how powerful we are together. Though, I might fight my way out of this and flee, but that monster won't let my family off so easily. "I can't see my family in pain," I replied in my mind as I wiped the tears now streaming down my face. "And I know he'd hurt them if I refuse." "What if he hurts us?" Zara asked. "With you around, I bet that wouldn't be easy." I've heard tales about the Blood Lord and I know how strong he is, but I had so much faith in my wolf and I believe that we would find a way out of this, but first I had to make sure that I don't implicate my family. It's a difficult task to pull off because I knew that I might lose my life in the process but looking at my family and how much hope they had in me, I couldn't let them down. "I'll do it," I finally let the words flow through my mouth. My mother raised her head abruptly and my father's eyes widened slightly. He probably wasn't expecting me to give in so easily. "Kim?" Clarabelle called to check if I knew what I was saying. "It's the Blood Lord," she reminded me. "I'll marry him," I repeated and my father let his tears out. "Oh honey," he crushed me in a tight hug as he wept silently. My heart melted and every anger I earlier felt dissipated. As if on cue, Mr. Simpson came in hurriedly. He was holding some papers which he immediately placed on the bed before me. "Master wants this signed right away." I looked at the papers and was able to identify it as marriage papers. I noticed that his signature was already on the papers. Without further Ado, I took the pen and signed the papers. "Congratulations," Mr. Simpson smiled as he shook my father's hand then he turned to face me. "We have to leave now," he spoke with utmost seriousness like he didn't just smile, and congratulate my father. "My master awaits you."
