Kimberly
"Wake up, Kim! Happy birthday!" A bubbly voice rang in my head, penetrating through my sleeping mind.
I sighed in frustration.
No one else could disturb my sleep so early in the morning. It can only be my younger sister, Clarabelle.
I opened my eyes slowly to see who it was but my eyes were attacked by the bright ray of sunlight that seep through the window and I immediately closed my eyes.
Clarabelle jumped on the bed and tickled me. "It's your birthday sleepyhead, wake up!"
My eyes popped open immediately and I sat up and tapped myself in the head.
How could I forget my own birthday?
"Happy birthday, honey." My mother's came In with a smile. In her hand was my favorite velvet cake.
"Good morning, mama," I jumped out of bed and hurried towards my mother.
She kissed my cheek and I took the cake.
"Won't you make a wish before you guzzle it," she cautioned, hand outstretched.
"Oh," I chuckled as I realized that I should make a wish before eating the cake.
"Don't blame me, I can't control myself when I see a velvet cake." I muttered before closing my eyes.
I made my wish short and quick. After all, I only ask for the same thing every year. All I want is to find my mate and fall in love and that is all I want from the goddess.
"What did you wish for?" Clarabelle whisked her brow jokingly.
"Not your business," I replied with a mouthful of cake.
I looked around and noticed that we were short on one family member. My father wasn't there to wish me.
He never missed my morning birthday wishes.
"Where's father?" I asked, still looking around.
"He's....." Mother began but paused as another voice was heard from the door.
"Right here," my father stepped in with his arms wide open.
I ran straight into his open arms and hugged him.
"Happy birthday, princess," he placed a kiss on my head and rubbed my hair.
"Thank you, father," I clung on to him.
"I can't believe you've grown so big," he sighed heavily. "How time flies," he shook his head.
"I can't believe it too," mother chimed in and wiped tears from the corner of eyes.
"Oh mama, papa," I hugged them both and Clarabelle joined us too.
I raised my head as soon as I remembered that my father was yet to present my gift. He never forget to get me a gift on my birthday every year.
"Father," I blinked and took a step away. "Where is my gift?"
He chuckled and shook his head. "I would never forget." He smiled and raised a glittery box for me to see.
I giggled happily as I hugged him again. I knew he'd never forget my birthday gift. Excited to see what was in the glittering box I opened it and my jaw dropped at the content.
In it was a single key and a Barbie doll key ring. I took it out in amazement and wonderment.
Amazed at the beauty of the keyring, yet I couldn't help but wonder what key it was.
"Papa, what...."
He knew what I wanted to ask and smiled. "It's waiting outside."
I rushed to go find out what it was but my parents stood in the way and stopped me. "Freshen up first," my father replied as he went out of my room.
"Then you can find out," my mother completed as she ambled after him.
"Urghh..." I grunted.
Why won't they let me find out? It's my birthday after all, and the gift is mine as well. So why won't they just let me see it then freshen up.
"Take a quick bath and we'll check it out," Clarabelle also stated before running after our parents.
Begrudgingly, I sauntered towards the bathroom and took a quick bath. I got dressed in a simple jean trouser and a crop top before hurrying out to the the living room.
I noticed that we had a guest, but I didn't dwell on it. He was probably one of my father's business partners.
"Here comes the birthday girl," my father announced.
I wonder why that sounded more like an introduction. However, my focus was on finding out what my secret present was.
"Papa, where is it?" I queried impatiently.
"Go outside and click the button on the keyring."
I did as told and found a red Ferrari California right outside. I clicked the button again just to be sure that I was imagining and the car was really beeping at the click of the button on the keyring.
As if to assure me that it wasn't a dream, my father appeared along with the others. "Congrats Kim!" Clarabelle squealed.
"Thank you!" I squealed as I raised the dangling key for her to see.
"It's your dream car!" My wolf, Zara screamed in my head.
Owning a Ferrari was a dream I've nurtured since a long time. So seeing it right now was a dream come true and I can't thank my father enough for making this dream a reality.
Unable to contain our happiness I ran to my father and hugged him before lifting him in the air. "Thank you so much, papa."
"You only turn twenty once," he chuckled.
My parents went back in, leaving me to celebrate in my car and test run it. When I returned, I figured that there was something about the ambience in the living room and I immediately knew that something was wrong. To confirm that, I heard my parents bickering.
"You tell her," my mother spoke first. Then father interjected.
"No, you tell her."
I have never seen or heard them argue before so I wondered what this was about. I made an appearance, yet neither of them noticed my presence.
"Tell me what?" I asked and this brought an abrupt stop to their bickering.
"Um....Kim darling, I... Uh...." Father started.
I've never seen my father stutter before. What could be going on?
I looked towards my mother for an explanation but she looked away, seemingly embarrassed.
"What is it Papa? please tell me," I took his hands in mine.
What could be so heavy for my dearest father to say? What could it be that has my brave man like Alpha Collins, Alpha of North moon pack so crestfallen?
"I'm sorry dear, I've failed you."
The faces of everyone in the room assured me that something huge was about to happen, yet it seemed like I was the only one who wasn't aware.
"What do you mean, Papa?" I couldn't understand what he meant by failed me when he just gave me the car of my dreams as my birthday gift.
Out of nowhere, an unfamiliar voice came and dropped the worse news I've ever heard.
"You're getting married, Kim."
