Chapter Six

2414 Words
-Harley's POV- I crawl behind a tree unable to get up. I am concerned. This mysterious guy is about to get himself killed. For a few moments, all I can hear is the thunder in the distance. I know I need to get away. If this man can't top them, they'll come after me. What was he doing all alone out here anyway? Am I in his pack's territory? If so, then there should be a whole pack arriving soon to help him. But minutes pass and I hear nothing except for the rain starting to pick up again. With very little strength, I get up, leaning my back against the tree but I can't take even one step. I fall back down. "Damn it!" I suddenly hear noises coming from behind the tree from the direction where the strange man left. From behind the tree I am at, I peek my head out but I see nothing until suddenly a big body of fur comes flying at me and hits the tree. The werewolf falls to the ground as the strange man from before comes out of the cluster of trees that the flying wolf came from. He has scratches on his arm but other than that, he does not look hurt at all. "Stay down." The man says to the werewolf. His voice is low and commanding, giving me chills. The werewolf tries to get up but suddenly collapses and falls unconscious. "You... you did it..." I whisper, surprised. The man walks in my direction. "You are... an Alpha." I say, realizing this. Not many people could have taken that many men and werewolves down as he just did. He doesn't answer. "And you, little fairy, are not a werewolf... so how is it that you know what I am?" He asks. He looks me up and down. "Not a vampire either. You smell normal." Thankfully my kind doesn't have a specific smell so we tend to smell like humans. He kneels in front of me, his eyes studying me and I notice that they are blue now. Beautiful light blue eyes. "Uh..." I am stupified at this moment. I really wasn't prepared to have to lie about who I am and also it is hard to think of something when I am distracted by him. There is something about his presence and it is not that he is an Alpha or that he is incredibly handsome. I have been around Alpha werewolves before and this is different. Could it be?...No, if we were mates I am sure we would know for sure. He is well over eighteen, which is when werewolves can sense their mates. But... there is just something about him and I just can't put my finger on it. He squints his eyes. "What are you?" I laugh nervously. "I guess I am a fairy after all... yeah... that's it?" He keeps his eyes squinted for a few more seconds but then to my surprise, he smiles. "I knew it." I am taken aback. He suddenly seems so different than that scary guy I first met. I am very surprised that he doesn't push to really find out more about who I am. He just lets it go giving me the impression that he has a very laid-back character even though he was kind of intense when we first met. He continues to look at me for a few more seconds and my eyes unwillingly go to his mouth. I feel butterflies in my stomach and I have a strong urge to lean in and feel his lips against mine. Of course, I don't give in but I catch him looking at my lips too. My lips part feeling it a bit harder to breathe and my breath feels much warmer now. He looks away and sighs, then looks behind him and then back at me again. "I guess I'll have to take you to my pack." "Oh...so this is your territory?" I ask. "No, we are not in anyone's territory." He says. He gets up and puts a hand out for me to take and I immediately take it. I have no choice so there is no point in debating it. I have no idea where I am but he seems to know this place. As he lifts me up, my legs give out immediately and I fall clinging to him. Seriously, I look like a cat clinging for dear life with one hand pulling on his shirt and the other on his pants. Not romantic or attractive at all like in those Korean dramas and I swear I am about to leave him naked. I can hear him smirk and then he just lifts me up over his shoulder and places me on his back, like a piggyback ride. My arms cling to him but my legs fall ready to dangle because I have no strength to hold them up. He immediately puts his hands under my thighs, holding them, and I am able to stay up. But his touch makes me shiver. It brings a pleasurable sensation to my skin which surprises me since that has never happened to me before. Living in a pack house with werewolves, I have seen many attractive men but there is just something about this guy that is different or I feel different about. Maybe it is because he is someone I don't know. Someone new. Unlike the males in my pack which I grew up with. "By the way, what is your name?" I ask him. "I'm Noah." He says. "Noah..." I mumble and for no reason, I smile. "And how far is your pack house?" "We'll get there in about five hours." He responds. "Five hours?!" This guy was not just out for a run. Why was he all the way out here? "Yeah." He says. "What were you doing out here anyway?" I ask. "That is my business, little fairy." He responds. I guess that's fair. It is his business. I yawn and I feel my eyes closing. "Can I... sleep?" I ask. He turns his head to me and smiles. "Yeah, do that." His breath tickles my cheeks and my stomach does summersaults again. My eyes flutter and I close them but then wake up when I feel the warmth that I was feeling with him leaving me. "Noah don't leave me!" I shout, opening my eyes. I see him just a few feet away. He suddenly stops and looks back, startled. And honestly so am I. I felt this desperation build inside of me when I felt him walking away from me and the thought of being alone out here. "I'm not... leaving you. I'm going to get some water." He says and now I realize that he was walking toward a small stream of water falling from a huge rock. "Oh... sorry." I feel embarrassed now. Once he is done, he comes back. "Are you thirsty?" He asks. I shake my head. "No." I've had my fill of water because luckily I have found water while making my way here. What I am is hungry. I haven't eaten anything in days. "Okay..." He says. "We have just one more hour to go and we'll make it to my pack." We've already made it this far?! I must have been knocked out then but I feel like I haven't slept at all. He helps me back on his back and I start to fall asleep again though I fight it a bit. My clothes are still a bit wet and I am cold but I can feel the warmth of his body against mine keeping me warm and it feels nice. "Noah... are you good?" I whisper. "Am I... good? "Please... don't hurt me..." I whisper as my eyes close. I hear him saying something but I fall asleep unable to make out what he says. I wake up disoriented and see that I am in a room. I slowly lift myself up. I am alone on a big bed. Light creeps through the window. The room is bright and nicely decorated. I still feel so tired but I am also a bit rested and now I can think straight. Now I realize that it didn't occur to me to ask Noah questions. Like, what is the name of your pack? Where is it located? and who is your Alpha? I am such an i***t and not that I know who attacked my pack but I might have just walked right into the enemy's hands. Yet... I felt like I could trust Noah. He went out of his way to help me and now thinking of him... I kind of wish he was here. Somehow I felt safe with him. ("Where are we?") Archion suddenly speaks. "Oh!... I forgot about you." He stays quiet and I know he didn't like that. "Uhm... we are... I... I don't know where we are. We are in a pack house but I don't know where." ("How did we get here?") "I... met a man in the woods." I explain but I kind of feel stupid now saying that. ("You met a man in the woods... and then what?") "He brought me here." ("And you... just came with him?) "Well... what else was I supposed to do? I was lost in the woods, and by the way, those men caught up to me and he fought them." ("Okay, but you didn't ask who he was? You just, went with him?") I sigh. "Well, I asked him his name, Noah." He stays quiet. "Cut me some slack, I was exhausted!" I shout. ("Okay fine, well now... figure out where we are and who are these people. You need to find out if we can trust them.") "Okay... okay." I get up from the bed and stretch. I spot an open door and I can see it leads to the bathroom. I start walking in, closing the door behind me. "Uhm... I have to pee, you're not going to watch me... are you?" There is silence. "Archion?-" ("Why on earth would I want to watch you?! If I do it's because I have no choice! I see the same as you.") I slide my underwear down and sit on the toilet staring straight at the wall. "Great! Just great! A perverted dragon!" He gasps and I have to hold my laugh. ("I am not! How dare you soil my name!") We both stop and stay quiet and all we hear is the sound of me peeing. ... ... "Why do you have to make this soooo awkward?!" I whine. ("Me?! How am I making this awkward?!") "Because you stopped talking when I started peeing!" ("For the god's sake, woman!") I giggle. I know I have to get used to having him in my head. Mom lived with him for years so it can't be that bad. Plus, I have someone to perpetually tease. I finish and come out of the bathroom still giggling but I soon quiet down when I am met by Noah. "Noah!" I am surprised. Yesterday when we met, he was all wet because of the rain but even as dry as he is now, he still looks hot and sexy. ("Oooh I see. So this is Noah?) Archion says. ("The way your body is reacting I am guessing you are attracted to this man or as they say now, you have the hots for him.") "Shut up." I mumble. Noah has a tray of food in his hands but he looks at me confused. "You... were talking to yourself?" He asks. "Uh... uhm... yeah? It's something I tend to do... I guess." I nervously laugh. ("You know, you can talk to me in your head.") Archion says. ... ("Oh.") I say to him in my head. Noah smiles. "Are fairies crazy now?" He hands me the tray of food as he says this and I take it. "Why do you keep calling me that?" "Seemed appropriate?" He says. "How so?" "I found you in the woods. What else do you think when you find a beautiful girl in the middle of the woods? Plus you don't tell me what you are, so I am going to label you as a fairy." He smiles but his eyes rake up and down my body and then go back to looking back into my eyes. I've had many guys say I am beautiful. But coming from him, it seems different or it just feels different. But why? Suddenly I realize that we are both staring into each other's eyes. "Uhm... so where exactly are we?" I ask. "In my pack." He says still staring and he almost feels like he is in a daze. "Yeah, I figured that. I meant what pack?" I ask now ungluing my eyes away from his. "Crimson Crescent... do you know it?" He asks. I nod. Now I know I'm definitely south of my pack but unfortionetly, I don't really know much about this pack or their Alpha. I only know of my uncle's pack, Archer. I have lived a sheltered life in a way. Home-schooled and mostly kept to the pack. Never really went out unless it was to go shopping or to restaurants. "How do you know of my kind?" Noah asks. Oh boy, how do I explain that? I stay quiet. I am not used to this. Mom always told me to keep who I was a secret from the outsiders of our pack but I have never had to, so I have no practice with this. Most packs know that there were draconians in our pack but they have never seen me or my brother. He stares at me and after a few seconds of holding my breath and not responding, he smiles. "I put clean clothes for you there." He points to the bed and then looks me up and down, almost as if I was naked and he was distracted. "I also changed the bandages on your arm and you have clean ones along with your clothes. I'll come back when you are done with your food, the Alpha wants to speak with you." I nod. "Okay... thanks." He closes the door behind him. I stare at it for a bit until Archion takes me out of my stupor. ("I can feel a draft... you are almost naked.") "Whaaaat?!"
