Chapter 2
Aliza's Point of View
I woke up and saw that I was in a car. I looked over and was so happy to see my mom driving while I was sitting in the passenger seat.
"Mom, you're alive," I said happily.
"Of course, I am alive, sweetheart. Are you okay?" My mom asked, concerned.
"Yeah, I just had a bad dream," I replied. I couldn't help the tears that were coming to my eyes. My mom was killed over a month ago by rogues. I know now that Catherine hired the rogues to kill my mom.
"Look, Sweetheart, I know you're upset because I lied to you about your father, but I wasn't trying to. I thought I was doing what was best for you. I was trying to protect you. Now I know I was wrong, and I am sorry," My mom said
I shifted into a werewolf for the first time on my eighteenth birthday. I was so scared and confused when it happened. I had no idea werewolves existed. I woke up in the woods naked and afraid. I went home and told my mom what happened. That was when she told me the truth about who my father really was.
I was so upset with her because she had told me that my father had died in a car crash when I was younger. I couldn't believe she had lied to me. After we made it to my father's Pack, I was still upset with her. I even moved into the packhouse when Catherine asked me to. I should have known she was up to no good. She wanted me to stay mad at my mom. She even told me that she would never have lied to me if she were my real mom. I was so stupid. I should have known Catherine wanted me to stay mad at my mom. I shouldn't have fallen for her trap.
After my mom was killed, I wished I could go back and change the way I had been treating her. I wouldn't even talk to her because I was so upset she lied to me about my father. Because of my actions, I missed so much time with her. I wanted to apologize to her, and now I could.
I wrapped my arms around her and hugged her tightly. My actions caused her to lose control of the car for a moment, and she swerved into the other lane.
"Aliza," My mom said worriedly, and a car honked at us. She pulled over to the side of the road and put the car in park. "Aliza, what is wrong with you? You could have gotten us killed," My mom said. I couldn't stop the tears that were coming from my eyes, and I hugged her again.
"Mom, I am so sorry about how I have been treating you. I know you were only doing what was best for me. I am so lucky to have a mom like you. I love you so much," I cried.
"Oh, sweetheart. I love you, too. I am so happy you are talking to me again," My mom said as she hugged me back. "We should get back on the road. We only have about thirty minutes to go before we get to your father's Pack," My mom said.
That was when I realized Selene had sent me back to the day we moved to my father's Pack. This was the day I met my father and Catherine. The day I met my mate. The day my life changed was the worst.
***************
"Are you sure you are okay, Sweetheart?" My mom asked worriedly as she drove.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Can we stop somewhere and get something to eat? I'm hungry," I said. I wasn't really hungry. In fact, my stomach was in knots.
"Sure," My mom said.
"If there is something wrong, you can tell me. Are you nervous about moving into your father's Pack?" My mom asked. We ended up stopping at a buffet. I needed to think about what I should do. I wasn't sure if it was a good idea to let my mom move us to a place where we were betrayed and killed. I was almost sure we shouldn't move there. Selene told me I could change the past and save everyone, but what if I failed? Selene said I was stronger than I knew, but what if she was wrong? I would be leading my mom and me to our deaths.
"If this is too much for you, we don't have to move there, Aliza. I will call your father and tell him you changed your mind. It is your decision," My mom said. That didn't sound like a bad idea. Selene did say I could run, and she wouldn't stop me. The problem with that was my dad, Kayla, and most of the Pack would die. I couldn't let that happen. I knew I needed to be strong and believe in what Selene had told me. She was the Moon Goddess.
"No, mom. I am fine; I'm just a little nervous. I am sure I will be okay," I said, and she smiled.
"You sure?" Mom asked
"Yeah," I replied with a smile.
"Just know that I am here for you," Mom said.
"I know."
