Aliza's Point of View
"I am sorry for Catherine's behavior. She is only trying to be helpful," my dad said as he drove us to the house. My mom was in the passenger seat while I was in the backseat.
"Sure she is," My mom said
"She really means well, Tina," My dad said as he touched her hand, causing her to look at him for a moment before removing her hand from his.
"Just make sure she understands that I am Aliza's mom," My mom said
Once we made it to the two-story brick house that had a fence, three bedrooms, living room, dining room, big kitchen, huge fenced-in backyard with deck, and four bathrooms, my dad opened the door, and my mom gasped at what she saw.
"DO you like it?" My dad asked
"Yes, it is beautiful. We have never lived in a house this beautiful before," My mom said truthfully. We had a two-bedroom house my grandmother left for us when she passed away. It wasn't as big and nice as the house we were in now, but it was our home.
"I made sure the kitchen was fully stocked, but if there is anything you need, you can tell me, and I will get it for you," My dad said
"That is fine, Michael. I can go to the store and get it myself," My mom said, and my dad stared at her for a moment. He looked like he wanted to argue, but instead, he closed his eyes and shook his head before replying. "Okay, but if you ever need anything, just let me know," My dad said
"I will," Tina replied, and he shocked my mom by hugging her. "I have missed you, Tina," my dad said before pulling away and looking at me.
"I am so happy that you are here, Aliza," my dad said, and he hugged me
"So and I," I replied as I hugged him back.
"I will see you at dinner. I will send someone to pick you up since your car is still at the packhouse." my dad said
"Okay," My mom said, and my dad left.
"Let's pick out our rooms and then get ready for dinner," My mom said
Okay," I replied
we went upstairs and picked out our room. I had never stayed the night in the house because I refused to stay with my mom. I was a terrible daughter to my mom, and that made me feel so bad. My mom chose the master bedroom, and I chose the room that was bigger than the other. It had a bathroom and walk-in closet, as well as a balcony that faced the backyard.
I took out my suitcase and found an outfit to wear to dinner. I took out my vanilla body wash and headed to the bathroom. There were already washcloths and towels inside. Once I was finished showering, I put on the blue sundress that I had chosen, brushed my teeth, and combed my hair. I decided to let my hair hand loose. I looked at myself in the mirror before heading back to my room.
I sat on my bed and thought about how I was going to beat Catherine. I knew I would have to play nice and act like I didn't know anything. That way, she would have no idea that I knew what she was doing. Her not knowing that I was on to her gave me an advantage over her. I would also have to find out If Josh or anyone else was on her side. I only knew of five pack members that were on her side. The rest were rogues she had teamed up with. I got out a notebook and a pen and started writing down everyone's name I knew would betray my father. I wrote down that five warriors I knew were traitors, and then I wrote down the name of the man who shocked me the most, my mate Cain Smith.
Cain and I were supposed to become fully mated the day everything happened. I still couldn't believe Cain would do that to me. I loved him, and I thought he loved me, too, but I was wrong. When we first met, I instantly knew he was my mate. He treated me like I was the only woman in the world. He would take me out on dates and give me gifts. He wanted to complete the mate bond as soon as we met, but I told him I wasn't ready. He told me he would wait until I was ready, no matter how long it took. I thought he was the perfect man in the world, but I was wrong. He played me because he wanted to become the Alpha of the pack. He used me to get what he wanted, but the funny thing was that Catherine was playing him, too.
There was a knock on my door, and my mom walked inside.
"Hey, Sweety. Your dad sent a limo to pick us up. They are here now. Are you ready?" My mom asked.
"Yeah, let me get my shoes," I said
"Okay, I will be in the family room waiting," my mom said before leaving my room.
I put my notebook in the drawer that was attached to the nightstand that was by my bed, put on my sandals, and walked out of the room.
I knew dinner was going to be interesting.
