Crystal Halls. The trip out of the valley and to Sergei’s home was bumpy but uneventful. Shannon sat in the back of Sergei’s truck while Trevor drove. He was sure she would have done a much better job of missing the potholes or driving fast enough to skim the tops of the washboards, but Bill’s mother needed to be with him. There was space for him in an air conditioned SUV, but the doctors thought it better for him to remain flat. At least the gurney took up most of the jolts.
