Chapter Fifteen
“I’m going to take a shower,” Taryn announced as soon as they walked back into the house. “I might as well go into the shop early.”
She didn’t wait for a response. She showered and dressed in record time, refusing to slow down enough to let her brain work. She didn’t want to think about what had just happened. Or what could have just happened.
Moving quickly, she gathered her purse from the living room and stuck her head into the kitchen where Caleb and Richard were offering more coffee to the officers.
“Off to work, see you later.” She was out the door before they had a chance to respond, as long as she didn’t take Caleb’s eyes narrowing dangerously at her or Richard’s look of surprise as a response.
She had to enter the code on the alarm twice to get it right. Finall
