Lane didn’t realize the cabin’s heat was on until he followed Remy outside again and felt the cold night pierce through his coat. He shivered and rubbed his hands together. “Let’s make this fast,” he said. The comfort of the bed they had left behind was looking better every second. He unlocked the Jeep with the key fob, then skirted around behind the SUV to open the trunk. Remy helped. Taking in the box of ornaments and Christmas decorations, Lane deposited them by the tree skirt to the left of the front door.
