Chapter 6

{Dorian’s P.O.V.}           “Allie, you can’t keep this to yourself either,” I tell her. Her knowing the mate to Bernie’s eldest daughter was important information, and she couldn’t just hide the fact that she knew, all because we didn’t know if Deacon wanted a mate yet.           “Well, it’s not like I can walk back in there and tell Heather I know who her mate is,” Allie says throwing her hands up.           “You know who my mate is?” we heard a voice and turned around. f*****g Heather was standing about ten feet away, which is more than close enough for her to hear us. “Allie, did I hear you right?” she asks coming closer with a big smile on her face.           “Heather…I…” Allie tries to explain, but Heather turned around and ran back into the house. “f**k!” Allie shouted and we ran after her before she could tell her father. But we were too late, by the time we made back in the house, Heather had already told her parents and the other ranked members, including Amber and Ronnie.           Amber and Ronnie knew of Allie’s different abilities, but they always kept it a secret for Allie’s sake. We made eye contact with Bernie, he was staring at Allie with confusion and what almost seemed like anger,           “Allie why is my daughter telling me you know who her mate is?” he asked while standing and coming towards Allie. Heather had a huge grin on her face. “How would you know who her mate is if she hasn’t even met him yet?” This wasn’t good.           “Bernie…” he put his hand up to cut me off.           “Please Dorian, I am speaking to your wife,” his attitude and tone were starting to piss me off. Alpha to Alpha, his hand gesture to cut me off was more than rude, it was downright disrespectful. “I asked you a question, Luna,” he said with more attitude.           “It’s a long story, perhaps we can speak in your office along with the other ranked members,” Allie said softly and respectfully. I could tell Allie was getting irritated with Bernie’s tone, but she knew better than to step on his toes. I on the other hand was about five seconds from starting s**t. Allie held my hand and gently rubbed my knuckles with her thumb indicating me to calm down.           “Follow me,” Bernie said, and everyone followed him out of the kitchen to his office. Amber came up next to me and mind linked me,           Little brother, do you realize how bad this is?           I can guess.           Heather has been dying to find her mate. She has been depressed because she hasn’t found him. If Allie knows who he is, she is going to have to make the introduction.           The problem is, is that the person Allie thinks is Heather’s mate doesn’t seem to want one right now.           What? Are you serious?!           Yeah. If Allie makes the introduction before he wants his mate, he may reject her.           Who is this guy anyway?           His name is Deacon Brown. He’s the Alpha of the Yellow Moon pack in California.           f**k, he’s an Alpha?           Yeah, he’s also the one that killed Hank.             Amber looked at me with wide eyes and I just nodded. When we got to Bernie’s office, Allie was just standing in the middle of the floor not knowing what to do. I came up next to her and held her hand interlocking our fingers.           “Now that we are in private, please explain to me why you claim do know who my daughter’s mate is,” Bernie said again with Corinne, Heather, and Lacie by this side. Everyone else was sitting at the round table.           “Bernie, I am a blessed wolf,” Allie says. Bernie just looks at her. “The ranked females of our pack have all been blessed by the mother goddess herself, and each of us has abilities and powers,” his eyes widened in surprise, as well his family and Henry and Melanie.           “Please explain,” he said sternly. His tone was commanding, and I did not like it at all. Bandit was coming to surface because he could feel Bernie was disrespecting Allie.           “Our Beta female Leah is able to see future events right before they occur. Events of imminent danger. The more danger, the faster she gets the vision. It also gives us time to change the outcome. Our female Gamma Sin is able to read the minds of other wolves without having to use mind linking, and it can be any wolf, not necessarily part of our pack. She used to be able to do it in wolf form only, but now she can do it in human form as well,” Allie paused for a minute and then continued. “I have multiple abilities, one is the power to sense souls, that ability allows me to see the soul of any person I meet. I can tell if they are good, evil, burdened, questionable, etc. It also allows me to sense when a female is pregnant as soon as the embryo is implanted,” that one statement about her abilities made the entire room gasp. “I also have the ability to project lust onto my mate, it’s a personal ability between the two of us, but if I was to use that ability on another man, I can drain their energy, cause them to become delirious, and even render them unconscious,”           “That still doesn’t tell us how you know who Heather’s mate is,” Henry said.           “My soul sensing ability comes into play on that. You see, I am able to sense one’s mate or even partner for other supernaturals when I create a bond with either party. Used to be I had to build a bond with both parties, but I have found that if I have strong enough bond with one side, and I meet their potential mate later, I am able to feel the same essence. Which is why I think I know who Heather’s potential mate is,”           “Why do you keep saying potential? If he’s my mate, then he’s my mate right?” Heather asked.           “Not necessarily,” I chime in and everyone looks to me. “The reason why Allie keeps saying ‘potential’ is because as of right now, the person we believe is your mate doesn’t seem to want one,” when I say this. Corinne taps Bernie on the shoulders and starts to sign quickly.           “Corinne is asking why he wouldn’t be interested in our daughter. Heather is a beautiful young woman,” Bernie translated.           “It’s not we don’t think he wouldn’t be interested in Heather, because she is a beautiful young woman, that I do not deny, but unfortunately, this person doesn’t appear to want a mate in general, regardless of what she looks like,” I explain to them.           “I don’t understand why you can’t just call him and ask Allie,” Melanie said.           “The thing is, it’s not my place to call and ask him,” Allie replies.           “You made it your place when you told my daughter…” Bernie started to say but Allie cut him off.           “I didn’t tell Heather anything! She eves dropped on my private conversation with my husband!” one of the many things Allie hated the most was being accused of anything when she did nothing wrong. Allie didn’t take s**t from anyone especially if she’s innocent.           “Daughter, is that true? You eves dropped on them?” Bernie asked Heather. She lowered her head and didn’t say anything. “ANSWER ME!” Bernie boomed in his Alpha tone.           “Yes, daddy. I was curious as to why they ran out so suddenly, especially after Allie stared at me the way she did. So, I used the excuse to use the restroom and followed them, and heard the tail end of their conversation,”           “Heather, how many times have your mother and I told you to stop doing that!?”           “I’m sorry daddy, my curiosity just got the best of me. It was worth it; I have a mate now!” she got excited. She didn’t hear a word I said.           “Heather, did you not hear what Dorian just said?” Henry asks.           “So! I’m sure once Allie calls him and tells him about me, he will be excited too. What man doesn’t want to find his mate?”           “Heather…” Allie grabs her attention. “The thing about this person is that he’s not affectionate with anyone, especially females. He’s been celibate for the last year because he is concentrating on himself, and the wellbeing of his brothers,”           “What does that mean?” she asked.           “A year and a half ago, he and his brothers found out their entire life was a lie, and that their father had killed their birth mother after they were born and married another woman. I won’t go into details because it is not my place, but that kind of information can scar someone, badly,” Allie explains.           “But maybe I can help him heal. There is no greater love than the love from your destined mate. I mean, other than your parents,” Heather was just too anxious she wasn’t getting the picture.           “Heather, if Allie introduces you to him too soon, and he isn’t ready for a mate, he will not hesitate to reject you, and he is not the type that would regret it,” I tell her firmly and bluntly. She flinches at my words, and I can see the hurt in her eyes.           “We obviously don’t want that to happen,” Allie says kindly. “I can make the call, but you need to think the worst before you think the best,”           “Does he know what you can do?” Henry asked Allie.           “Yes, I told him about ten months ago, and he said he would call me when he was ready, but he hasn’t. The only time he calls is just to chat, check-in on our twins or talk business with Dorian. We have a good friendship, but he never brings up the topic of finding his mate. Neither do his brothers,”           “How can a Luna have such a close friendship with a male Omega?” Bernie said.           “Who said anything about him being an Omega?” Allie replied and that got everyone’s attention, except for Amber since I had already told her about Deacon.           “Are you saying that he is a ranked member? But all of your ranked members have mates,” Bernie said.           “We never said he was part of our pack,” I told him.           “Dorian, you allow your wife to have friendships with males outside of your pack?” Bernie asked with disgust in his voice.           “Why wouldn’t I? I trust my wife, and I trust our allies. He saved my wife’s life last year and his brothers kept her safe, I have no grievances with them,” I tell him.           “Allie, will you please call, I need to know, please,” Heather begged on the brink of tears. This was getting to be too much           “Dorian, perhaps you should call and speak with their Alpha first,” Henry said.           “That won’t be necessary, Allie is good friends with him,”           “But, speaking to an Alpha is required,” he protested.           “Again, not necessary,” I repeated. I looked down at Allie who had already pulled up Deacon’s number and hesitated a bit. She looked up at me and I nodded my head. The hit call, and we waited.             {Allie’s P.O.V.}           I pulled up Deacon’s number and once I got the okay from Dorian, I press the call button and put the phone to my ear. It rang a few times before he answered,           “What’s up, Shorty!”                 “Hi D, how are you?”           “Good good! How are you doing baby girl, everything with the twins good?”          “Yeah everything is great, but listen, I need to talk to you about something and it’s important,”           “What’s up?”           “D, remember when I told you about my abilities to find mates?”           “Yeah,”           “Well, I kind of accidentally might have found yours,” there was silence and I thought he hung up on me. I looked back at the phone and the line was still open. “D?”          “What do you mean by accidentally?”           “Well…Dorian and I are in Florida right now visiting his sister and our new nephew and I met a girl a few years younger than me, and I could the feel essence from her soul and it’s the same I feel from you,”           “In Florida?”           “Yeah…Look, I know you never bring it up, and I honestly wasn’t going to tell you until you were ready, but the girl eves dropped on my conversation with Dorian about it, and now…”           “I get it, but I don’t know what to say to all of this, baby girl. I’m sure you figured that my not bringing it up during our calls or visits is because I’m not ready, nor do I want one right now,”           “Would telling you she’s an Alpha’s daughter change your mind?”           “Not really, if anything that makes it worse,”           “Oh, sorry,”           “Don’t be. Look, I’m grateful for you telling me all of this, but I need you to tell her that I’m not ready and I don’t want her right now. I’m not rejecting her, because obviously that can’t be done over the phone, but if she can wait for me to get my s**t together, then I’ll gladly go and find her, with your help obviously. But if she doesn’t want to wait, tell her that she is more than welcome to reject me, and we can meet face to face for that,”           “D, are you sure? Like, you’re 100% positive this what you want?”           “I’m 1000% positive. Look, in all honesty, I don’t think any woman could compare to you. Dorian and I have talked about this, and he knows my feelings for you, Allie. But he allows us to be friends, and I’m grateful for that. I can’t be with another girl, regardless if she is my mate if I still have feelings for you. That wouldn’t be fair to her. Don’t tell her that obviously,”           “D,”           “I know, baby girl. We’re only good friends, best friends even. I am 100% cool with that. Just having you in you my life is what matters. I’m not ready to let go of my feelings for you, and I need to concentrate on rebuilding my pack. Having a mate would be a burden right now,”           “I understand. I’ll let you go then, just remember, I’m always here for you,”           “I know, Shorty. Talk to you again soon,”           “Bye,”                     I hang up the phone and let out a big sigh. I look at everyone and lock eyes with Heather who has her hopes up. Dammit, I told her to think the worst and here she was hoping for good news,           “I’m sorry, Heather, but he doesn’t want a mate right now,” I tell her.           “He’s rejecting me!?”           “No, he’s not. He says that if you’re willing to wait, he will come to find you when he is ready, but he also said that if you don’t want to wait, you can reject him and that he would be willing to face you when you do it,”           “How long will that take!?” Heather was starting to cry hysterically.           “I don’t know,” I tell her apologetically. I got a sudden mind link from Dorian,           Deacon is still in love with you, isn’t he?           He is. He said that he can’t be with his mate if his heart still belongs to me, because it wouldn’t fair to Heather.           Understandable. Although I wish he would move on already. We were already married before he even met us.           Dorian, he will never disrespect us. He just needs time to figure it out. Plus, he’s more than happy with just being friends. And he had enough respect for you to tell you to your face how he felt about me.           I know. That was big of him. He’s a good man and a good Alpha.             “Allie, who is this person?” Bernie asked.           “Is that important?” I asked back           “It is if he is a ranked member and is rejecting my daughter, perhaps I should have a talk with his Alpha,” he said.           “And what you plan to say to him?” Dorian asked.           “That he should get his ranked members in line. Having a mate is crucial to any member of any pack. Every Alpha knows this. Perhaps he can convince his pack member to accept my daughter,” Bernie was going to s**t himself.           “That will be kind of hard since he is the Alpha of his pack,” Dorian replied. The silence that filled the room was loud. I saw Corinne wave at me,           Allie is this true!? My daughter’s mate is an Alpha? I nod my head and just give her a sad look. I could tell that she was disappointed.           I’m sorry Corinne, but Dorian and I did warn you all that he may not accept her yet. He has been through a lot in recent years, and he needs time to heal. For him, having a mate is too much of a burden. I signed back. She let out a deep sigh, and I could see tears in her eyes. I felt bad. As a mother myself, I don’t know how I would react if Daisy or Demarco’s mates ever put them through this. Thank the moon goddess that Keegan is already obsessed with Daisy and vice versa.           “I don’t care what his reasonings are, but I want to speak with him Alpha to Alpha! How dare he reject my daughter!?”           “Bernie, I told you he’s not rejecting her. He’s just…placing this on a temporary hold,” I tell him           “But why?! Why doesn’t he want a mate!? I don’t understand!” Heather was full-on crying.           “I told you, he has been through a lot. In his words, having a mate a is a burden right now. And as I said, if you don’t want to wait for him, you can reject him, and he will come here to face you in person for it. But he won’t come for anything else. He knows that asking you to wait is unfair to you, so he will accept your rejection if that’s what you choose,”           “I don’t want to reject my mate! I want to love him! I want him to love me!” I felt so bad for her.           “What about me?” Lacie finally said something. “Do you feel anything when you look at me?” she asked.           “I don’t, I’m sorry,”           “It’s okay. I’m not in any hurry honestly, I was just curious,” she smiled sweetly, and I smiled back. I could tell she was telling the truth. She wasn’t in any hurry, not like Heather was.           “I think we should leave Bernie and his family to handle this together. We should all get back to the party. Allie and Dorian, you two haven’t even eaten anything,” Ronnie said to us. We all nodded and left the office.   This was probably the first time that my ability was more of a hindrance than a gift.
