CHAPTER NINETEEN When they got back to the station, Knudsen’s lawyer had still not arrived. Knudsen looked irritated and a bit bored when Kate and DeMarco entered the room. After a few seconds, though, he looked hopeful—like he hoped their return might mean that he could go free. As far as Kate was concerned, it was yet another sign of his innocence. “Mr. Knudsen,” Kate said, “I can understand that you are not happy with your situation.
