Chapter 6: Approvals And Debates

1500 Words
Saturday's are Kate's "Outing" days, which means we take Kate anywhere she wants as a family. It's been that way for the last five months and I don't mind, especially since she always lets me pick the food place. (She can't eat most foods because they make her sick, so she brings her own lunches) I told Kate last night when I got home all about Ben the douchebag, and she was annoyed with him just the same. Actually she called him a cocky asshole. We spent most of the day bowling, which was her choice, and then we went to an arcade so she could play all the games. Dad and Mom actually got along for a few hours as they played a lot of the games like air hockey and some shooting game. I played dance dance revolution with Vince, kicked his ass and got my name on the top five. It felt good. "The silver and the gold one!" Kate said smiling widely at the man with all her tickets. She wanted us to have BFF necklaces and I thought that was a great idea. Only they didn't say BFF they said "Best Bitches." Which only made it better. I took the silver and she pulled on the gold one. Vince got a yo-yo and mom got candy while dad got a mug. We ended up at a small hole in the wall restaurant that I really, really wanted to try. Plus it's Mexican food and we all love Mexican food. Getting out with Kate, she eyed the menu in the front and nodded "A chicken enchilada and two carne asada tacos." She said to me thoughtfully. I nodded and ordered that while everyone else put in their orders. Paying, I stared down at my number and Vince gave my arm a small shove. I scowled at him before looking up and seeing the one face I didn't think I'd see. "Why is he everywhere? Honestly, what are the odds? I don't even run into you this much!" I said to Vince who grinned at Ben. Ben sat with that one guy who handed him the cash the other day for the fight. I watched them talking intently, hopefully he doesn't notice me. Hopefully. Kate looked to Vince "Is that Ben?" She asked eyeing Ben and then looking to me as I nodded. Her eyes ran over him "Oh he's hot Lana, like holy shit." She laughed low. I rolled my eyes "Lets just sit far from them. Please. He already thinks I'm stalking him." I said sighing and sitting at a table opposite of their side. Taking a seat, I watched Mom and Dad sit across from us while they placed the drinks down and admired the lighting. "I'll let you know if he looks at you." Kate said low as she stared in his direction. I laughed lightly "Oh god, please don't." I shook my head taking a drink of my tea. Floor please open and swallow me whole. This is a horrible coincidence I swear. As our number was called, Mom got up and gestured for me to come help her grab the food. I eyed Kate who smirked and gave me a small nudge. Oh such a wonderful loving big sister! Scowling at her, I stood and followed mom to the front counter keeping my head low. I grabbed two of the trays and mom grabbed the other while we headed back to the table. Sitting down, I stared at Kate who shook her head telling me he hadn't noticed me yet, thank God. We ate our dinner and mom tried to have Vince google the lights because she really wanted them for the kitchen. Staring up at them I laughed "Mom they're not the style of the kitchen at all. These are like Spaniard lights and our kitchens all modern." I said looking to her confused. She nodded "I'm changing my whole kitchen, and the rest of the house. I want renovate it entirely. I'm so tired of the bleak white and black. I want browns and beiges with tan!" She said smiling. Dad smirked at her and ate the last of his burrito. Sometimes they're almost, almost, perfect for one another. Other days there's no one who'd be a worse match than them. Ben's POV "I'm just saying, there's a lot of big fighters out there and I know you're good but if you want to be noticed you gotta be great." He said shaking his head at me while he bit into his stupid taquito. Who the f**k comes to a place like this and orders a damn taquito? I nodded "Like I said, I'll work up to it. I just need to know who and how. You set up the dates and places and I'll go." I said taking a bite of the carne asada taco. His eyes moved over me "I'm trusting you kid, you gotta be willing to work with me. If I set a time and a place and you don't show, it'll look real bad on me. Alright?" He asked as if I haven't had coaches before. I've done this twice before, this will be my third time. I know the routine like the back of my hand but he thinks I don't. Sighing, I looked up to see the family in the back get up. The girl, a tall and sweet smiling one laughed a familiar laugh, she had no hair and no brows, reminded me a bit of Heath. She's probably sick too. Dropping my eyes to the girl who turned carrying a tray of trash, I eyed her familiar face. Those big green eyes, nice t**s and her dark hair pulled back. I watched her smile with the other girl, their laughter mimicking one another's. The older version of her rolling her eyes and telling them to shut up. I watched her look back at her table and then over at her family leaving out the door. Her ass looked nice in those jeans. "She's quite the beauty." I pulled my attention back to Johnny, watching him turn his stare from the girl to me. His smirk telling me he liked what he saw, I'd imagine he did. Sitting back I stared at my empty plate, "She's everywhere I go. Her and her friend are hot but they're completely psychotic." I said leaning forward and pushing my plate forward while staring at the spot she was in only minutes ago. Johnny laughed "The psychos are the best in bed. Does she sleep around?" He asked staring back and then noticing she was gone. His eyes moving to me in amusement. I'm sure she does, her friends always talking about getting f****d by new guys every day. She's probably just quiet about her conquests. "She thinks I'm gay." I said eyeing Johnny who was laughing hard. Johnny shook his head "You're the most straight-looking man I've ever met." He said calming his laughter. It's great though, keeps her off me. At least I think, I'm really not sure since she's everywhere I f*****g go in this town. Honestly, what are the odds? I don't even run into Johnny this much. Next thing I know, I'll walk into my damn house and see her on the couch. I don't doubt the possibility. Johnny eyed me "So you know this girl? You two talk?" He asked wiping his side of the table with a napkin. I shrugged "She's in most of my classes. Smart too, I thought she'd be dumb but she's probably an honors student." I stared at Johnny who grinned "Bang her." He smirked. Staring at the guy across from me, I wondered if he ever listened to anything I said about females. "I'm not sleeping with another woman so long as they're insane. Marley was enough for a lifetime." I said shaking my head and receiving a chill down my spine at just the thought of her. Johnny laughed "She really tried to cut your d**k off?" He asked me watching me carefully almost like I'd lie about that. Marley was a crazy b***h, one night she thought I had cheated on her after I called the hospital here for Heath. A woman called back and asked for me, she went off, tried to castrate me. I've got a restraining order on the psycho but I doubt that would stop her. Shes the reason I don't trust females anymore, currently uninterested in woman until I get Heath back on his feet and I can find a decent girl with some sense. "I know your brothers your main priority but maybe you should just give yourself a day to be a teenager. Go to a party, just enjoy a girl for a night, one that isn't psychotic." Johnny said laughing. Yeah, that's so easy to find here...I'm being sarcastic. They're all psychotic here. Especially that quiet girl and her blonde friend. Especially them.
