Kim suppressed a smile as Smith and Taylor gave affirmative responses, albeit muted ones. They sounded like stroppy children being forced to apologise to each other and make up after a fight. It had clearly been a rough morning. Perhaps her inadvertent lie-in had been a good thing—yes, it meant she’d missed all the action, but if it had resulted in the men being miserable, then she was better off out of it.
As for what had sparked the row, she wasn’t entirely convinced she’d been given the full story, but she had a good idea of what could prevent another one from breaking out—keeping them busy.
