CHAPTER SIX

1026 Words
The royal guards grabbed Hera's arms, and she didn't have the strength to struggle as tears streamed down her face. She had been locked down at the dungeons for weeks, and now she was going to be looked up in the royal chambers too. Was there no end to these imprisonments? Had these werewolves not done enough? First they killed her parents, turned her into a creature she didn't understand, and now they were taking her freedom away from her. How was she supposed to find the killers if she was locked up? “Please, your majesty!” She cried. “You can't keep me locked up. I am innocent. I didn't do anything wrong. I can't stay locked up, your majesty!” She finally began to struggle against the iron grips of the guards, but her efforts were indeed futile. The Alpha King simply ignored her as he majestically walked back to his throne and Hera's body shook with sobs as the guards dragged her out of the throne room and shut the door in her face. “I still have a score to settle, your majesty.” She whispered as her voice broke. The guards dragged her through the passages, but she was too distraught to notice anything happening around her. She couldn't bring herself to care about the royal guards who passed by her, giving her odd looks or the maidservants, whispering under their breaths as they lingered around. She didn't care about Blood-Stone. She just wanted her parents back. She just wanted to go home. Her tears didn't stop flowing and even when the guards flung her into an overly large room which she assumed was the left wing of the royal chambers— she couldn't stop sobbing. She cried until her vision went dark and she passed out. Hera's eyes fluttered open hours later and she noticed that she had passed out on the floor. Her entire body ached and she let out a groan as she got off the floor. Her eyes were a little blurry as she managed to locate the bathroom in the overly large quarters. She found a wash basin and splashed some water on her face before checking her reflection in the mirror. She cringed at what was staring back at her. Her red-rimmed blue eyes, which were just like her mother's, stared back at her— now lifeless and dull. Her pale skin was blotchy and the dark circles under her eyes almost looked permanent from her endless sleepless nights. Her lips were pale and chapped and her auburn hair which was just like her dad's had lost its glow. It was safe to say that Hera was now a shadow of her former self, and why wouldn't she be? She lost everything in one split second, and now she was locked up in an unknown place. She slowly sat on the bathroom floor, staring into space as multiple thoughts crossed her mind. She had no idea how much time passed, but she was brought out of her reverie by a rough knock on the door, followed by the door opening. Some footsteps echoed into the room and a female voice said, “I brought your dinner.” There were sounds of dishes being placed on the table followed by receding footsteps before the door banged shut. Hera didn't care that it was already dimmer time, and she didn't care about eating. She ignored the food and just sat in complete silence as her thoughts began to drift off and this time, she thought of the powerful-looking Alpha King. There was no doubt that he was extremely handsome. His hair was dark and silky under that golden crown and he had a face that, no doubt, men would kill for and women would die for. She would never forget how his olive skin glistened in the light and the feel of his breath against her skin when he whispered so closely to her ear. Hera couldn't help but think about how his cold, piercing eyes stared at her like he could see into her soul. She shook her head vehemently, trying to ward off those thoughts. Now was not the time to think about the king in an inappropriate manner. She had a mission and she would do whatever it took to make it happen or she would die trying. It didn't matter how handsome the Alpha King was, he was still the enemy. He was still a dangerous werewolf and three of his followers were still responsible for her parents' deaths. She wouldn't rest until she found them and gave them the gruesome punishment which they deserved. Thinking of the killers gave Hera a renewed energy and she instantly got up from the floor. It was no use sitting here when she had a revenge plan to carry out. She needed to find a way to get out of the chamber. She began scurrying around for a way out, starting with the bathroom but unfortunately, the windows were sealed shut and were too high up to reach. She went around the chamber, trying to open the other windows and doors but they had all been sealed shut and the peculiar thing was, when she tried to touch the entrances, they burned her skin like they had been laced with something. She couldn't understand what was going on but she stayed as far away as possible from the doors and windows to avoid getting stung. Hera let out a sigh as beads of sweat ran down her brow. There was no escaping this room. The only way she could escape was through the front door which she could swear was heavily guarded by royal guards. She sighed dejectedly, slumping on to the luxurious bed and her eyes landed on her untouched food. She needed to figure out a way to trick the royal guards into making her leave. But how? They were under strict orders from the Alpha King and she could tell that they would rather die than flaunt his orders. As her eyes lingered on her untouched food, she suddenly had an idea.
